    I've been going to Dr. Castro for over 10 years now. He convinced me to get braces. He redid a…read morecrown and I needed another crown for a chipped tooth. Recently, I thought I might need a root canal. He was extra careful and referred me to a specialist to be extra sure that I didn't need it at this time. I found his office on Yelp and I can say I have no complaints about the dental work. In the beginning, the front desk staff seemed to have a lot of turnover but recently it runs like a well oiled machine. They're popular so I suggest you make appointments in advance unless you have an emergency.

My son sees Dr Castro and he is an excellent dentist for the kiddos. My son recognized him as a dentist who made a visit to his school to talk about teeth and it's very easy to see why he's so popular with the little ones. But I've never had such a difficult time to schedule/reschedule an appointment before. I always feel like I have to take time off work or pull my son out of school or wait another month or more. Their hours are terrible. The 7am Fridays would be great if we lived closer but we'd have to leave even earlier to get through traffic and then there's no guarantee we'd be finished in an hour to get to school on time. 2pm closure on Fridays is crazy. And they close at 3pm on Tuesdays and 5pm on the other days. They are always booked solid so good luck if your child gets sick.

A few weeks ago I started having some pain in my molar and I couldn't hold it off any longer. I decided to try Maria T Rodriguez because a coworker recommended it - they've been going for years. Now, I was hesitant to try a new place in Richmond, but it's actually right off the freeway and just a couple blocks from Target, so super convenient for me. I called and the receptionist was just the right balance of business and bubbly. She answered my questions about my insurance and found a time that worked for me to come in. Two weeks later, I went in for my appointment. Again, friendly and welcoming reception upon arrival. Pretty standard waiting room and equipment from what I could tell. The dentist and assistant were both professional, super friendly and gentle. Luckily it was just an abscess that was bothering me, so they worked their magic and I was in and out with no need for a follow up. I scheduled my next cleaning for 6 months down the road and that was that. My friend gave me a good recommendation and I will gladly make the same recommendation for anyone looking for a new dentist office in the area.

I have been very loyal, on time, a happy customer & paid on time. Even when dentists would often leave, I would stay and be given another dentist. During COVID, I was faithful and kept coming and paying for my visits. Front of house is excellent! Dental assistants are all excellent! Lots of dentist turnover, over the years but I was loyal through their changes. Just recently I have had the opportunity to get some crown work done. My implant specialist sent me to a dr, who was not Maria R's office. I still needed Dr. R's office for cleanings, fillings etc. Today I got a call from the front of house, that the Dr. said, "we cannot service you anymore." There was no reasoning, no discussion, no conversation. They didn't take the time to have a discussion with me. I know it had something to do with me going to a specialist for my crowns. But that is what we do. We go to specialists for specialty work. And the general dentist for our general work. It is very sad to be treated in such an uncaring and inconsiderate way after I was so faithful and happy there for so long. The lack of caring from the Dr. is high. It's VERY sad to see a dr who is unable to have a conversation to understand more. The dr should have asked me questions and had a discussion with me to figure out what I thought or asked my specialist questions. Or explained to me "why" they don't want me back at their office. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal. But I am SO EXHAUSTED from working/life/COVID and wanted to be at Dr. R's office for as long as they were there; because it's so close to my home and in my local community and how much I loved the dental assistants and front of house. How clients are treated is very much a part of being in business. Perhaps this is why Dr R has had so much turnover with her dentists. Lack of ability to have a conversation and get the other persons point of view and come to a united conclusion. I am very fortunate that my specialist was very happy to take my business immediately. Dr. Sibhatu is in Oakland and his office is looking forward to having me there. Thank you for reading!!
