After my dentist of over 20+ years retired and closed his office about a year ago, I'd been putting off trying to find a new dentist. A few weeks ago I started having some pain in my molar and I couldn't hold it off any longer. I decided to try Maria T Rodriguez because a coworker recommended it - they've been going for years. Now, I was hesitant to try a new place in Richmond, but it's actually right off the freeway and just a couple blocks from Target, so super convenient for me. I called and the receptionist was just the right balance of business and bubbly. She answered my questions about my insurance and found a time that worked for me to come in. Two weeks later, I went in for my appointment. Again, friendly and welcoming reception upon arrival. Pretty standard waiting room and equipment from what I could tell. The dentist and assistant were both professional, super friendly and gentle. Luckily it was just an abscess that was bothering me, so they worked their magic and I was in and out with no need for a follow up. I scheduled my next cleaning for 6 months down the road and that was that. My friend gave me a good recommendation and I will gladly make the same recommendation for anyone looking for a new dentist office in the area. read more

Questionable establishment! My Mom took me here for years. Am no dentist but something wasn't right! I was told to change my filling as I had insurance money available, if I didn't use it I would loose it. So I trusted and excepted a cosmetic work to be done. Next thing I knew, I needed a root canal, they try to fix for a second time and failed. Being that they couldn't get it right, I went on to another establishment and ended up loosing my tooth. I ended up paying 6,000 for a implant at the second establishment. This was years ago.... Years later, few weeks ago, my regular dentist not being available for a chip repair I called and schedule a appointment requesting my chip to be repaired. Upon arrival I was told I was getting a cleaning! So I explained again exactly what I needed twice to two employees and proceed with appointment, the doctor said he didn't have time and it would only be a consultation as he didn't have time. ( I excepted as I wanted to be understanding) before I walked out I was told I needed a root canal and the chip wasn't just a chip? Wow memories! I went to see my regular Dentist the next day and got my chip repaired, been just fine since! I want to trust all establishment working on me! I am very surprised to have to be writing this negative review. I have been going to Dr. R's dental office for many years. I have been very loyal, on time, a happy customer & paid on time. Even when dentists would often leave, I would stay and be given another dentist. During COVID, I was faithful and kept coming and paying for my visits. Front of house is excellent! Dental assistants are all excellent! Lots of dentist turnover, over the years but I was loyal through their changes. Just recently I have had the opportunity to get some crown work done. My implant specialist sent me to a dr, who was not Maria R's office. I still needed Dr. R's office for cleanings, fillings etc. Today I got a call from the front of house, that the Dr. said, "we cannot service you anymore." There was no reasoning, no discussion, no conversation. They didn't take the time to have a discussion with me. I know it had something to do with me going to a specialist for my crowns. But that is what we do. We go to specialists for specialty work. And the general dentist for our general work. It is very sad to be treated in such an uncaring and inconsiderate way after I was so faithful and happy there for so long. The lack of caring from the Dr. is high. It's VERY sad to see a dr who is unable to have a conversation to understand more. The dr should have asked me questions and had a discussion with me to figure out what I thought or asked my specialist questions. Or explained to me "why" they don't want me back at their office. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal. But I am SO EXHAUSTED from working/life/COVID and wanted to be at Dr. R's office for as long as they were there; because it's so close to my home and in my local community and how much I loved the dental assistants and front of house. How clients are treated is very much a part of being in business. Perhaps this is why Dr R has had so much turnover with her dentists. Lack of ability to have a conversation and get the other persons point of view and come to a united conclusion. I am very fortunate that my specialist was very happy to take my business immediately. I've been coming here since I was about five years old, and let me tell you, the service has not changed. They are professional, hard working, and very kind. They always take care of all the paper work. They make it extremely easy and stress free when you come in for an appointment. I would definitely give them a try! read more

Never come here. These people are all about ripping you off and your insurance. Will literally bill for services not needed and will practically tell you your teeth are about to fall out of your head if you don't follow their treatment. Do yourself a favor and don't make an appointment at this office ! I've been coming to this office my whole life. I am 20 years old now. 3 years ago I lost my insurance and couldn't come here anymore so I didn't get checked up for this whole time. 2 weeks ago I make an appointment. I show up and realize it's not the same doctor that was there 3 years ago. I've only ever been seen by dr. Niko (best you'll ever find ) but I was told he moved to another office. I proceeded with my X rays and cleaning to be told I needed cavities filled. I also had a chipped tooth dr niko filled in when I was like 10 and asked if if I could get it replaced because it was old and yellow. The current dr that was attending me told me "it might fall out if she replaces it" I told her they put it in when I was 10 and it's stayed ever since she said "wow he must have been a really good dr" red flag right there. So I decided to located dr Niko. I tried asking the front office if they knew where he might have moved to and they were acting like they didn't wanna tell me but okay cool I found him myself on Google. Dr nikos receptionist tells me to ask them to send him my X-rays. I called this office and they pretty much told me they couldn't send it individually (which no dental office has said EVER ) legally they have to be able to send it . I paid 200$ for my X-rays and cleaning since I didn't have insurance. She told me she'll call back the next day after she asks the lady who knows more than her. I called the next day and Angelina answers with a stank ass attitude saying legally she doesn't have to send it that, and I quote , "we don't have the man power " and it's really frustrating because if they don't send it I have to pay to get them done again. I kept trying to call after to ask for their names so I can deal with this legally and they didn't want to answer so I showed up in person . FINALLY after going through all this one lady, I guess she's the manager, finally told me she can send it through email but it's a 50$ charge like WHAT a 50$ charge to send X rays that I already paid for. If you go hear the work won't be good at all and you'll most likely have to go get it fixed by another office after. read more

Worst dentist ever my life of good teeth was ended by this woman got into a fight she said to nerve was dead had to have root canal then when I went in for the procedure after the procedure was done they tell me they did it on the wrong tooth now I have a fake tooth where that tooth used to be after the filling fell out from the root canal tooth broke in half and was subsequently ate by myself never had any problems with my teeth until I visited this woman she is the worst dentist in the history of Dentistry and deserves to have her license revoked I am 29 years old now I seen her when I was a teenager since the day she admitted she did the wrong root canal I have hated dentist to not go near a dentist office without having anxiety and panic attacks and now in days with the economy the way it is I wouldn't think this woman is being any more honest I would bet that she is telling people they need work that is not necessary after I seen this dentist I went to a family dentist and they told me that it was shoddy a work I hope one day this woman gets her license taken away and her teeth knocked out of her mouth read more

I have been coming to this office for years now. the entire staff here goes above and beyond when it comes to getting me what i need for any dental work. I have never had to wait more than a few minutes to be seen by one of the hygienists and they are always extremely friendly and gentle while working on my teeth.
