Unbelievably bad experience…read more Went to Magic Moments to get measured for a bridesmaid dress. You walk in and it's like a time warp - back to the 90s with with bags of tacky dresses. It's so crowded that it's almost difficult to walk through, but i mean, fine... its a dress store, no big deal. The dresses weren't in stock so we pretty much went to get measured for the gown. I get measured by a salesperson who is seriously slow. First she's confused there are two Amanda's in the bridal party and actually crosses out the other Amanda's name when taking my measurements. I had to tell her I'm Amanda P and that was Amanda R. P and R, terribly confusing I know. In life, I am a size 2/4. I get measured and the measurements (bust, waist, hip) are 2, 12, 8, making me the candidate for a size 10. I ask them to measure me again - I get that these dresses run big but a 10 is pretty ridiculous. Especially the fact that my hips are larger than my waist, which is not the case in real life. After asking multiple times, I finally get remeasured and they're adamant that I'm a 10. So, I am stuck paying and hoping I'm a 10. It's time to get our payments processed. Six girls and it took over an hour to do that. They wrote everything by hand, making mistakes with their painfully slow writing. I finally had to ask to write it myself because their method of asking, repeating, writing incorrectly and having me correct it was just insane. Fast forward a few months later and I was right. All of the bridesmaid dresses are HUGE. I can fit another person in my 10. I just called and the woman at the store could find no record of any name - not the bride or any of the bridesmaids. It's not shocking that they lost a yellow slip receipt floating around in their overpacked store but it's disappointing that I can't find a single redeeming aspect of this place. Bottom line: Skip this store - there are plenty other dress stores in Long Island with an actual concept of size, fit, reality and customer service. They probably even have electronic payment methods too.

I found Aida's on a whim and went in immediately in the morning as they open at 7 am. I noted the stains on my coat and they paid special attention to them. They have super fast service and got my coat done in 2 days for under $20! I was thrilled I could spend the rest of my work trip wearing my nice coat. The staff here is also so friendly and extremely knowledgeable and have been in the business for over 20 years! I also recommended this place to my friend recently during COVID and she let me know they also do delivery and pickup which is really nice especially during this pandemic where it's not really safe to go outside. HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE - NEVER BRING ANYTHING YOU CARE ABOUT TO HALLAK CLEANERS!!!!…read more I brought my satin Armani evening dress to Hallak. The dress was over $5,000 and this was the first time it was dry cleaned. They didn't protect the zipper pull and the paint was completely ruined on the zipper pull as rubbed off. Then, I called to speak with Leah who informed me that my dress wasn't ruined even though the zipper looked terrible and the zipper could just be re-painted to match the green dress. I called Armani in NY and in Milan to try to replace the piece, as well as Bergdorf Goodman but it was unfortunately not possible. When I called Leah to tell her to ask her how they were going to handle it, she said Mr. Hallak wanted to see the dress so I dropped it off. Armani said "DO NOT PAINT THE ZIPPER" as you may further ruin the dress and the paint could rub off on the dress. I told this to Leah and was very explicit that I was bringing the dress back only for Mr. Hallak to look at it but I DID NOT authorize them to try to fix it. When I didn't hear back after 5 days from Mr. Hallak, I called again and was told by Leah that Mr. Hallak "didn't want to call me but was taking care of it." I reiterated that they were not authorized to paint the zipper and that Mr. Hallak should call me before touching my dress. I didn't hear back for another few days only to receive an email from Leah that the zipper had been painted and was being returned to me. The zipper was painted but they got paint on my dress and then damaged the fabric in a second spot - probably trying to rub the paint off of it. I am so upset and disgusted with this situation. DO NOT EVER USE THEM FOR ANYTHING AS THEY HAVE NO CARE AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRENDOUS. GO TO JEEVES OR YOUR LOCAL CLEANER AS YOU WILL GET A BETTER OUTCOME. We have been to Estelles, Davids bridal and even the dress section for juniors at Macy's and Bloomingdales. Sizing was difficult if your dress size is bigger than a size 8, colors are limited as most places will only have few color choices and fabrics. So my daughter would end up trying the dress she that was most close to her ideal dress. Pricing was another issue, by far Estelles was the most expensive to find a custom fitted dress. With all of that we were lucky to find this dress shop that has dresses, tuxedos and limousine rentals. We could have have saved a few more dollars if we had ordered directly from the dress makers but to avoid headaches we had my daughter measured with a dress that was form fitting to what she was looking for. We saw color samples of the different choice materials and of course she wanted lots of bling for the occasion. The dress was ordered in Late July and we just received the call a week ago that it finally has arrived. Today we went for a fitting and to make sure that the fabric and bling are exactly what we had envision. I am happy to report that we are all very happy so far with what we have experienced. Be aware if you decided to pay cash, you can save on the tax. The price of the dress does not include the pressing or the petty coat ring skirt. We are actually 2 weeks away from the final delivery date as there are some alterations that the dress requires. Stay tuned for the reveal... I was looking for a custom made tuxedo as well for my self. However, they only rent tuxedos; so i will stick to buying one at century 21.
