Staff person who handles patient questions does everything on speaker phone next to reception area so you hear everyone else's personal medical business. The support staff do the actual eye tests and don't bother to listen to any responses during the vision tests. They seem to have minimal training. The doctor presents as caring, speaks very little, sends in the prescriptions and leaves the receptionist to tell you medication procedures and dosages. A mixed bag type of experience.

My opthalmologist Dr. Elias Aliprandis was very professional, patient and extremely understanding concerning my anxiety for the cataract surgery. He spend time explaining the procedure for and answering all my questions. He was very supportive and reassuring. That evening Dr.Elias phoned to see how I was feeling and again answered more questions. My cataract surgery was very successful. I now have perfect 20/20 vision in my right eye. I'm excited to schedule cataract surgery for my left eye. Thank you very much Dr. Elias for your superb precision in my cataract surgery. I had an appointment with Dr. Feig, and the entire experience was very pleasant. The location is spacious and clean; the waiting room is very large, so that there were no issues with social distancing. The people at the front desk were courteous and professional, and all COVID-related safety measures were being enforced: Everybody was wearing a mask, there were plexiglass screens on top of the front desk, and they were checking temperature. Since this was my first visit here, I had to fill the usual forms, but the wait time was overall very short, just a few minutes. I was then taken to one of the examination rooms where two technicians took basic measurements; both technicians were courteous and professional, and took time to explain exactly what they were measuring and why. I was then taken to another examination room, where I was seen first by Dr. Sally Chetrit, and then Dr. Robert Feig joined us a few minutes later. I liked how both doctors were friendly and professional, and took time to explain what happened, different options as far as treatment, lenses, pros and cons, etc... They answered all the questions I had very thoroughly, and at no point I felt that I was being rushed. Overall I was impressed. Everybody from the doctors, to the technicians, to the front desk personnel were very professional, very pleasant, and very thorough. During the procedure, her assistant gave me stress balls to squeeze. Moreover, she rubbed my arm while the doctor operated. The next day, I received a call from the assistant asking if I am ok. So these people tried to rip me off. So I have a condition called keratoconus. Its an eye condition…read moreand required an operation to halt the disease. Which require hard contacts called scleral lenses. My original contacts broke, so I needed new ones since I can't see without them. I contacted my insurance to see who was in network. They gave me a list and this place was on it. So I go and they seem very nice then they tell me the contacts will cost 2k and then every year I'll need a new pair at 1k for new ones. I was shocked and they said my insurance won't cover it. So it's either pay or be legally blind. So I pay them and I later contacted my insurance to see what they cover. Turns out they cover it all 100%. I contact them thinking it must have been an error and they can put the order in and also get my money back. The receptionist then tell me it's not covered. I tell her that she's mistaken that my insurance said it was then she says "well it's cosmetic" I tell her that's not true I had an operation for it and everything so it can't possibly be cosmetic. She got nervous because I called her bluff and tells me the office manger will call me in two days. Three days later I call back and the receptionist tells me that it's office policy to NOT charge insurance for those lenses. I was shocked. They are in network, they take my insurance l, and they will charge my insurance for standard contacts or glasses fine but for the expensive stuff they won't. So they get to pick and chose what to charge insurance. Which makes it seem like they will chose to charge insurance Baer on profit. I told her that is unacceptable and will file a complaint with my insurance (which I did) suddenly the office manager magically appears in the office. She tells me I have two options I can either cancel the order OR they can charge my insurance and if they cover 100% then I get my full 2k back and if it's 50% I get the difference you know like HOW INSURANCE WORKS. I tell her I want them to put in the order. She then says it could take up to 8 weeks for me to get reimbursed after the contacts. We then have the following conversation Me: so 8 weeks? Her: yes Me: okay put the order in, I'll mark in my calendar that in 8 weeks I should have the 2k back or else we'll have to have a conversation Her You dont have to threaten me Me: I'm sorry what did you say Her:you don't have to threaten me, I know what I'm doing Me: well you've lied to me twice so far so I don't trust you Her: I got this Me:okay put the order in Her:it could take 2 weeks for the contacts Me: ok 5 days later I get a call from my insurance asking me if I got back my 2k because they said that I cancelled my order and requested a refund. I never did that. I filed another complaint for insurance fraud. I call to speak to the office manager and she's not in and it's unknown when she will be in. Then i get a call from their Manhattan office who tell my insurance covers the contacts and asked me when I would like to come in. So even with that they still don't know what they are doing. So please PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE. They will lie and try to rip you off. Call your insurance and educate yourself. Spread the word because we need to stop this fraud
