I'm a bit surprised by the negative reviews for Brooklyn Eye Center, as my experience was nothing short of stellar. I had an appointment with Dr. Feig, and the entire experience was very pleasant. The location is spacious and clean; the waiting room is very large, so that there were no issues with social distancing. The people at the front desk were courteous and professional, and all COVID-related safety measures were being enforced: Everybody was wearing a mask, there were plexiglass screens on top of the front desk, and they were checking temperature. Since this was my first visit here, I had to fill the usual forms, but the wait time was overall very short, just a few minutes. I was then taken to one of the examination rooms where two technicians took basic measurements; both technicians were courteous and professional, and took time to explain exactly what they were measuring and why. I was then taken to another examination room, where I was seen first by Dr. Sally Chetrit, and then Dr. Robert Feig joined us a few minutes later. I liked how both doctors were friendly and professional, and took time to explain what happened, different options as far as treatment, lenses, pros and cons, etc... They answered all the questions I had very thoroughly, and at no point I felt that I was being rushed. Overall I was impressed. Everybody from the doctors, to the technicians, to the front desk personnel were very professional, very pleasant, and very thorough. My only complaint: Why did I not come to Brooklyn Eye Center sooner?! read more

Dr Feig is great and so is everyone that works in his office. I was there 4 times in a month for a retina check, surgery, and follow ups. Timely, efficient, and a friendly helpful attitude by all. And I dare say the surgery itself was almost pleasant. Dr Feig set me at ease with a confident demeanor and relaxing environment. Church Av office.... My first time there and it was great. Kimberly greeted me with a smile and was very professional at the front desk. Ms. Lydia continued the trend as she made me feel relaxed while she explained the preliminary procedures she performed before she began my eye examination. The doctor at the 4th ave location was 40 minutes late for my appt before I walked out. They rescheduled me, and when I arrived I was able to walk straight in. They let me know at that point that they would be dilating my eyes. It was 3pm on a very sunny afternoon. They provided no disposable sunglasses and now my eyes hurt more than ever. Not sure they respect the hippocratic oath here. Now I have an appt scheduled at the actual hospital because I don't trust their practice. The facility is clean and looks pretty. Prior to coming to The Brooklyn Eye Center, I went from doctor to doctor trying to fix the floaters in my eye. The Brooklyn Eye Center was a God send for me. After reading some recent YELP reviews for Brooklyn Eye Center practice and specific derogatory and negative comments to the skilled doctors and support staff, I felt compelled to write a review of my own experience with them. I had cataract surgery with corrective lens replacement two years ago with Dr. Feig. I have been a patient for many years as a breast cancer survivor with compromised vision. I have consistently been treated with the utmost care and consideration which could not be more important for someone who has gone through a medical trauma like cancer. The office experience was very professional, and you can tell by sitting in the waiting room that it is a well respected practice. Why else would so many people be there and trust them considering we all have choices to make for our important vision care. Each part of the experience is important for the overall determination of our respective issues, so you do have to see technicians that preform screenings before you the actual doctor. I felt confident at each step that I was receiving thorough precise tests that would help in my final diagnosis. When Dr. Feig came into my room, he made me feel comfortable immediately. His demeanor, although very professional, put me at ease. He addressed every single concern I had and gave me plenty of time to speak. He was thorough, careful and confident. He also made me laugh which helped relieve my anxiety. And I had the same exact experience when it came time for my cataract surgery. My results were amazing, and now I have nearly 20/20 vision without having to wear glasses at 63 years old! in my opinion, I was so fortunate to have found a practice that absolutely conveys to you as a patient your importance. I have continued to see them now for aftercare and all my eye concerns. They always ask about my general health and celebrate my remission status. From the front desk staff, to the surgical coordinator, to the doctors...thank-you for the empathy and respect that has ALWAYS been shown to me at your practice. I had a terrible experience with the Brooklyn Eye Center. I had an appointment to get lasik lens cleaning done today 8/17. They called me the day before to confirm my appointment for 9:10 am. When I arrived I waited 20 mins. I was called in and was informed that they didn't have approval from my provider. They gave me a lame excuse that they didn't ask for the approval in a proper manner. I asked what was the proper manner? He couldn't explain. I called my provider and found out they never asked for the approval. So they confirmed an appointment for a procedure that was never sent In and waited until I came in to tell me that the procedure was not going to happen. I found that to be very unprofessional and irresponsible on the staffs part. Upon being upset I told them nevermind and the tech said ok. Never offered any comfort. read more

This is a review of their 4th Ave location, there isn't a Yelp page of that one. Stay away. I've been there a few times and I regret it. The first time I went I had a 9:30am apt I got there at 9:15 and by 11:00 i was still in the waiting room. I had asked multiple times when I would be seen and I was always told soon. I had told the front desk I had work and I needed to be leave but there was nothing they could do so I just left. I made another apt for an afternoon a few weeks later at 11:00am. This day I also had work at 5pm. I was taken back until almost 2pm and didn't see the doctor until 3:30pm. I went again and had an apt at 9:45am 6 months later. I thought maybe I wasn't lucky and this time would be fine. I got there 5 mins late and I had called the day before to tell them I changed my insurance and that I had to leave by 11:00. They took my info the day of and told me someone would be with me soon. I was in the waiting room for an hour and told the front desk I have to go I have to be at the disability office at 11:30. She said she'll tell the next assistant to take me. I waited another 15 mins and someone brought me back. She did the eye pressure test and I explained I needed to leave soon. She brought me to sit in the back waiting room and told someone to do another test for me next Bc I had to leave. I waiting 25 more mins and just walked out. Sorry this isn't worth my time there's thousands of eye drs in NYC. They overbook and let people wait and you only see the actual dr for about 5 mins if that. I admit when I first came here I was a little nervous. I had gone to their location on President Street and had a pretty good experience but this was my first time visiting this location and the front desk staff was a little rude plus I was passing time reading the awful yelp reviews on them. But to my surprise, I didn't have to wait long to be seen. And unlike the front desk staff, the technicians in the back where friendly and helpful. And Dr. Sally Chetrit is amazing. She was so great. I definitely recommend if you go there, you see her. She really listens to you, takes your eye problens seriously, and does a thorough exam with the help of the technicians. read more

Avoid this place!!! My appointment ended up being close to 3 hours. I left the room being infuriated at the incompetent staff. To the point where they were laughing and saying "she's still here, she's still here" like it was amusing to them. When Brooklyn businesses realize how much it hurts their businesses by tolerating this type of behaviors from staff, they'll fix it quick. Across the bridge in Manhattan you would NEVER have these type of behaviors from a staff because they know once a client complains there are serious consequences. Yet these staffs were so comfortable doing it like it didn't phase them. Awful, incompetent front desk staff! They have failed to tell my 79 year old sick grandmother that the Optometrist she usually sees has switched locations and her appointment was at the President street location rather than the Bedford Avenue location she usually is in. After her Access-a-Ride took her to the Bedford Ave location, we had to pay a cab to go to the President Street location (which would have been more convenient in the first place being that it's closer). Then when we got there it turns out that her reservation was not even set up. So we had to wait forever to be seen. My grandmother (who cannot walk well & has heart problems) was absolutely exhausted and frustrated from the inconvenience. read more

For the past 4 years, this is the place I have come to for medically necessary contacts. Dr Chetrit is very smart and efficient. The same does not go for the offical management. They can go weeks without placing my order or calling to say the contacts have arrived. I had an appointment on 11/2 and just got my contacts today, 12/14. Insurance approved it on the 19th (the day they faxed the info) but the office says my insurance never told them it was approved (which I dont believe) and they did not think to call and check. They never accept responsibility for mistakes or huge delays which affect me greatly because again, my contacts are medically necessary. The frustration cannot be put into words. Currently working with a non-profit to help me find a doctor with a more professional office. read more

On my very first visit to the center, after an initial examination of my eye, Dr. Feig demonstrated confidence as he assured me that my problem is fixable. He was very straightforward, humorous, and kind. He made sure that I understood that I was in good care at all times. All the technicians were cautious and helpful, and in my overall experience, they all demonstrated excellent customer service professionalism. Had cataracts surgery done on both of my eyes, and it goes without saying, I was pretty scared to get eye surgery. Dr. Feig and his crew were awesome - they reassured me every step of the way and I am happy to report that I now have 20/20 vision in both eyes after a lifetime of bad eyesight. I did research and asked an optometrist in Buffalo for the best eye surgeon in Brooklyn and Dr. Feig was quickly recommended. I am so glad I scheduled my surgery with his amazing team! Shout out to Dr. Hanson for her excellent post-op advice and for her amazing bedside manner. As for the negative reviews, I really do not understand them - everyone at Brooklyn Eye Center from the desk crew to the surgical coordinators to the doctors themselves were top notch. Started off great - got me in for an emergency when I got conjunctivitis. I was/am in terrible pain and I'm trying to prevent my one year old from getting infected. The doctor was nice enough and told me she would write me a prescription that would help. If things had gone well from there I would give them 5 stars. But it's now been 24 hours and the office has not called in the prescription to my pharmacy - probably because the woman at the desk picked up a phone call and rushed me out before I could make sure she had the prescription at the end of my appt. I called first thing when the office opened this morning to again request that they call it in. I was told that they would do it "by the end of the day." After I pushed back and reiterated how much pain I'm in, the receptionist told me that someone would call me once they called it in. Called again an hour later and was told it "wasn't in the system." Still hasn't happened. Totally unacceptable - I will not be back. read more

I had a very rare reaction to a common medication that made my eyesight go from perfect, to not being able to see my own hand... After 2 days of doctors/ER/PANIC etc... Went to see Doctor Irene Rusu, and everything changed! She not only diagnosed me quickly, but made sure I knew I was going to be ok, and that I could breath again :) She has the most amazing bed side manner, really listens to everything you have to say and cares. The staff at both these locations where so nice and understanding. I really can't recommend this office and Dr. Rusu enough!!! read more

Kudos and my personal gratitude to Dr. Rastogi for his dedication, consistence, professionalism and empathy in taking me through very complicated and serious glaucoma issues. I found Dr. Rastogi to be extremely reassuring, as he utilized his humorous nature which always decreased my intense stress level during a visit. Staff is very receptive and responsive to the needs and concerns of the patients, and do their best to accommodate those unexpected emergency visits. Administrative staff should learn to smile and answer to patients!! They look like the typical staff doing their nails at the desk!!! Also, we had an appointment at 8am. 8.20am i asked if the doctor was here she said "no he should be coming by soon. Anyway you have to wait 9am for me to call your insurance to check if you are insured!!" What an organisation!! You have to take a whole day off just for an appointment that should take 10min!!it would have been logical if they let us know this while taking the appointment!! The wait was over an hour, the administrative staff was extremely rude. The doctor himself, Dr Feig, was excellent but the practice over schedules and the staff could use a class in social skills. If a doctor doesn't know how to manage a staff or a schedule, or bad behavior, Its hard for me to fell comfortable managing my medical care.
