Raymond came to our condo to give us an estimate, He spent close to 1/2 hour talking to us about his services. He took measurements and said he would email a quote. I never heard from him again. Before moving into my condo, I had Raymond refinish my floors to get rid of the traffic patterns left by the various dogs that lived here before me. He and his team did an AWESOME job, it looked like new. Sadly, a leaky radiator buckled a portion of my living room floor just a few weeks ago, and since Raymond did such a great job before, I called him again. I must say, it looks perfect! I am so impressed, he relaid the panels in a portion of the floor and finished it, and I honestly cannot tell the difference from the rest of the floor. Ray's Hardwood Flooring was the company that put the original floors into our condo 5 years ago; knowing this, I thought I'd use him to replace a few cracked boards. I'm very disappointed that he failed to deliver... anything. While he did come out to give me an estimate, that was the last I saw of him. I called him the following day to set up an appointment and I got a disconnected message from his phone; odd. The next day I tried again and actually got the voicemail so I left a message. It was two weeks until he returned my call. Since he apologized and set up an immediate appointment for the following Monday I agreed. Well, he said he was going to show up between 8 and 10... At 9:30 I called to make sure he was still coming, no answer. Here it is an hour and a half later and still no Ray and no return call. The real bummer is for him; there are 4 other units in the building that are looking to get boards replaced and floors done. Oh well, his loss. I'm always surprised to read crummy reviews after I've had an outstanding experience from a service provider. And outstanding pretty much sums up the work that Raymond and his team did replacing a portion of my vintage wood floors. They were prompt, accommodating, cleaned up everything perfectly, and there's no way you can tell where the new floor ends and the old one starts. This was the best experience of my life! My parents were out of town and they had water damage that came through the ceiling and ruined the flooring.So I called Raymond floors and he came to the rescue. He repaired the ceiling on 2 floors and put in new flooring. Not only did he do a perfect job he also cleaned everything! He put back all the furniture and hung up all the paintings! Such a nice man! Raymond was on time to the estimate appointment. I called back to schedule and he said he would call back the next morning and that was the last I heard from him. I left several messages and no calls back. I called because a friend had a great flooring experience, but this guy is bad business. I guess he is too busy to accept any new business. Raymond was a referral from a friend who was happy with his work. While I think he did a great job refinishing my floors, he was the classic example of the tradesman who disappears once he cashes your check. His team got stain on my doors that I thought was fair for him to do what he could to fix. He said it would be no problem, a little paint thinner, etc. But it took a month for him to return my emails/voicemails and then he blew off 2 appointments. Not worth the hassle. read more

Actually, I wish I could give more than five stars. "Five stars" classifies "as good as it gets!" yet, Raymond and his crew delivered far more than I could have imagined. We purchased a house that had been badly treated and had initially planned on removing some soiled carpet and installing hardwood in it's place. My very savy father-in-law had been using Raymond for all of his flooring needs in numerous properties that he owns around the North Shore and indeed, when I saw the recent bamboo floors Raymond had laid down in their Wilmette home, I was extremely impressed with the quality and workmanship. After several other quotes, I called Raymond Flooring to see how they would compare. Contrary to other companies, Raymond came in, assessed the situation, rightly pointed out the need to refinish what was there (kitchen/foyer), the best way to blend in the new floors with the existing, ect. With his Old World European accent, Raymond patiently explained the process, gave great insights on flooring in the overall design of the house, and experimented with the different stain colors until the perfect stain was determined. When his bid came back, it was unbelievably reasonable..I mean, seriously!!!! substantially lower than the Big Guys who came in and quoted a bid that only installed the new floors without refinishing the old. The work was done promptly with a crew that were some of the hardest working guys I have ever come across. Perhaps most importantly, the floors turned out far better than I even imagined...they are truly a work of art and have completely transformed the look of the house. I cannot more highly recommend this company...it truly is a gem that I doubt will remain hidden for very long. read more

Raymond did a fantastic job sanding down our existing dining room floor and adding a hardwood floor in our dining room. There was virtually no dust from the sanding and he was able to mix two stains together to come up with the exact color I wanted for my floors.
