I love the vibes here! It's beautifully decorated throughout and there's more seating in the back as well. We really wanted to sit in the back because it was stunning but it was a really hot day and it was like a greenhouse back there. The front is equally beautiful though. :) We came for brunch. They offer set brunches (Moroccan Breakfast, French Breakfast) or you can order things a la carte. I thought the menu was great. There are just enough items so that you have different options, yet it's not too much where the indecisiveness kicks in. We tried both breakfasts and got the taboulé. I have nothing else to say other than everything was SO good. I wish I lived closer so I could come here more often! I loved the sauce that they served with the taboule and the breakfast. I don't remember what it's called but I do recall them saying that it's made in-house. The servers were also very friendly and made sure to come by to see how we were doing and how we liked the food. Would definitely come back again!

Rayah located along Parliament near Carlton is a Moroccan cafe/patisserie by day and restaurant at night. The restaurant has had a warm welcome to the neighbourhood where it has gotten busier as more people hear about this place. There is indoor as well as outdoor seating on their patio. The space is beautifully decorated bringing you to Morocco. This review is only for the cafe as I visited during the morning. I stopped by Rayah on a Thurs morning right after they shortly opened. To my surprise the place already had some customers enjoying their coffees on their patio and several customers inside purchasing pastries (which are made in house) and morning beverages. I opted to get a cappuccino where I enjoyed the space. There were only some pastries on display and staff mentioned that more savoury pastries would be on the way. I decided to drink my coffee first and wait to see what other pastries would be available. Coffee was made well. After about 5-10 min some more pastries came out and I opted to get a brioche with egg and kemia. The pastry was delicious! The brioche was fluffy and not heavy and the savoury ingredients in the middle complemented the whole brioche well. I wish I could tell you what was in the brioche but I'm not 100% sure. All I know is that it was really delicious and I would get it again!! Staff were also friendly despite being busy as they were also trying to open up the shop and get the restaurant ready for the day. Overall, a great new addition to the Cabbagetown neighbourhood. It sounds like it's already a huge hit for the locals. The pastries were great and the coffee was good. Their dinner menu looks amazing and they will soon have brunch as well. Can't wait to return to try more from Rayah!

Happy I got to try this place. Reservations are a must if you don't want to risk waiting. Fortunately they have a front dining area and a back dining area. It was very busy but our server did his best to service the table and check-in on us. At the end of the evening we were one of the last few tables left. The manager came by to talk to us about the restaurant and even showed us the back dining areas. The food was delicious and very flavourful. Our favourite dish was the Moroccan sausage and mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, they had sold out of the desserts that we wanted so we will definitely have to try those the next time we go back.

I was pretty decent and the breakfast was nice. Was expecting butter and honey for the baghrir and msemmen but it was OK. I would go back

Ok folks so on a nicer days decided to walk to Rayah. I have lower expectations for Moroccan food in Toronto and save it for my trips to Ottawa (Gatineau spot I tried last visit is decent) This one hasn't improved that opinion. The service while courteous has growing pains. We arrived not knowing what to expect as opening hours also include the cafe so it says 8 am-10 pm. They mentioned the kitchen isn't open get so we have to wait a few min fine I guess. The setup is pleasant though I didn't realize has a lot of seating in the back. Some things aren't pleasant such as flies in the front dining area which is enclosed. We got the dip trio and I went for the lamb tajine (oddly was first told that it might be sold out even though the kitchen had just opened) and friend ordered the chicken cordon blu. We were offered a bread before the meal that I didn't try as the bakery items looked meh. Dips trio oh boy small portions and with such a lack of seasoning that I would say baby food anyone! The tajine didn't improve my opinion much either. I would describe it as lamb meatloaf topped with prunes and apricot. Completely unexpected level of bland taste which I would equate to cafeteria level. Side of potato are ok but otherwise not one expects. Friend's chicken cordon blu got poor feedback as well. Comment being that this might as well be from a frozen box. Oh boy the odd thing is they might do well in this area IMO!

The food tasted great and was fair in portions, tables are closed together and I love the fact that the two dining room have different decors and ambiance. Was very very disappointed in the service, it took forever to get services and I had to chase the bill after having waiting 15 minutes approximately for the bill. Even getting water was a challenge not sure why! The place was packed but that does not excuse the lack of caring. Once you got service it was friendly but good luck getting it. There is no official opening hours for Marjane Cafe... no where in the front of the stores or online. The sole owner, cashier, food server just opens whenever there are customers?! But on weekend he keeps the cafe opens till past midnight. Moroccan Mint Tea ($5) served in a large tea pot with just a taste of honey was quite good, wish there are more minty though! The little puppet like tea pot handle cover was just so too cute!! I couldn't stop playing with it! For food.. we just asked the owner to serve us whatever he recommended...so we ended up having: Chicken Lemon Tajine with Frittata ($12.95) My Yelp friend was served this chicken thigh..maybe he knows that he is a leg person and he was looking for belly dancer?? The potato frittata was a little too heavy for me... but he finished everything... I guess it was not Ok? But he finishes everything usually... Chicken Pastilla with Couscous Salad ($8.99) I love my Chicken Pastilla which is really savoury with taste of both sweetness and saltiness. I love the mixture of almond, pistachio and powder sugar! Couscous Salad with a nice cumin dressing was refreshing for a hot summer day! Marjane Cafe is also a Hookah Bar if you are into Shisha... I wish they have some day beds so I can enjoy a shisha/sipping mint tea while lounging around!

It's a good thing there's no Moroccan Dessert Heat for sale here as we were already overcooked from the Toronto weather. It's almost like a Turnkey operation as the semi-Kitchen is pretty much right behind the counter similar in scale and equipment as a Starbucks. The Gentleman(+0.5 *star*) working there was absolutely great with HOSPITALITY as if you're a guest at his home rather than a customer. Chicken Lemon Tajine with Frittata ($12.95) Now understand, I don't have too much Tagine experience under my belt however I have had one that exceeded my imagination of the cuisine. That's probably why I felt underwhelmed by the non-Tagine'd Chicken Lemon Tajine. I was expecting sauciness and bread to soak. I believe the price is slightly high for what this dish offers. Chicken Pastilla with Couscous Salad ($8.99) Pastilla, Bastilla. Toemato, Tomaato. It's another one of those dishes I fell was unique and happy to discover somewhere else. This version was slightly smaller and would be nice if it was warmed slightly more. The Coucous Salad seemed overly sour from vinegar which depends on individual taste I guess, since Amy Pataki found it stand-out worthy.

Our server was so nice and friendly. We got the tabule salad with falafel, fried eggplant, and lamb grill. The salad is kind of a small portion but very tasty. The falafel was the perfect ratio of crispy to stuffing. However, they were mini falafels and I believe the regular order of falafels is bigger. The eggplant was the least enjoyable dish because it was so greasy and had no flavor to it. The lamb was cooked to perfection and so tender and flavorful. The grills are also served with veggies and rice. The portion size was perfect. We'd go back again and try some other hot mezzes.

The hummus was good, definitely above average for hummus, a very classic hummus. Also got some falafel which were also good. Not overly fried, good flavor and consistency to them. Paired well with some hot sauce. The lamb banadura was good too, the lamb itself was perhaps a bit dry and could've been more heavily spiced/seasoned, but the tomato garlic sauce in which it was served was absolutely delicious as were the heavily-seasoned tomatoes in the dish. Everything was well packaged for delivery and it was all pretty good.

I walked into the store and it's pretty decent size, bright with a lot of large windows. There is seating at the side and windows. I regret not grabbing any pictures of this but I was taking my order to go. After scanning the menu pretty quickly, I saw I could grab a soup from here. I placed an order for a soup and decided to get some falafel as well. You have a choice of a few dipping sauces and I went with the harissa one. They told me it'd be a couple of minutes before it'd be ready. I stood by the windows to see what was happening on Yonge St but it was a pretty quiet night. They gave me a call out and I was off with my soup and falafel in no time. After getting back to my place, I popped the lids for my orders. The soup smelled great and the falafel looked alright. I started with the soup. It was nice and packed with a lot of flavour. It was also pretty light and what I was looking for. I took a bite of the falafel. I'm unsure how to feel about it as it felt really when chewing through it. I dipped it into the sauce and it still felt a little dry. I finished this during the hockey game and I'm glad it was close. Would grab the soup again and try other things on the menu but would skip the falafel as it wasn't my favourite thing even though the dipping sauce was nice.
