We enjoyed our stay and appreciated the friendly staff and amenities like a loaner vehicle, etc. Our most recent stay was a different story. There are new owners who recently acquired the facility from some careless previous owners who had let the place go downhill. Many of the fun things we enjoyed before were in bad shape or just not working. The new owners apologized for the "mess" and assured campers that they are working on restoring the campground to it's former glory. They were working on several items that we noted, like the mini golf, and the abundance of sticker weeds throughout the park area. One thing I regretted about our stay was that the office chose to park someone directly next to us for our single night stay when there were very few occupants and many many sites to choose from. At the very least, they could have separated each camper with an empty space in between. I understand if they were super busy and had most sites occupied, but there was hardly anyone there and we suddenly had a direct neighbor. I'm hopeful that they will be able to turn things around. I plan to check back in with them when I pass through the area. Their pricing was less than the adjacent RV park, that did not seem to offer much more.

High winds forced a road closure that made it impossible for us to keep a previously scheduled stay, so we called to explain the situation. The representative acknowledged the closure but told us we would not be reimbursed because we did not have "insurance protection." At no time during our many years with KOA were we required to purchase insurance, nor have we ever been denied reimbursement for circumstances beyond our control--especially when the company was already aware of the closure. Being told we were "outta luck" was unprofessional and unacceptable. We will not be returning to this KOA and will share this poor experience with other travelers.

If we are talking about silver linings, I can say at least we mostly couldn't tell the difference... Oh wait. Yes, we could tell the difference. K-O-A should be an acronym for Killer Odor Alert. I can tell you K-O-A does not stand for Keep On Apologizing because the manager couldn't have cared less about what happened next. We got hooked back up and ready to traverse the labyrinth of rust buckets and budget chariots, got back on the highway. Forty miles in, I glanced down at my gas gauge. I was nearly empty. We filled up the DAY BEFORE. Someone had siphoned the gas out of my truck that was hooked to the trailer. I called Kevin, the supposed manager who also handled the booking, and explained our experience. He asked me what I was looking to get out of the conversation, I said how about $100 to offset the cost of the fuel? Reasonable, right? He responded with "I can't do that." So I hung up. There is a small sign with orange reflectors on it, on the North side of the highway. The campground is about a mile up a gravel road, North of the highway. There are RV spots with 50 amp service and water, sewer. Pull thru or back in sites on gravel pads. No trees. Tent camping sites, shaded by trees. Vault toilets. It's a nice quiet place to camp. Lots of cattle and antelope around. Great place to watch those afternoon lightening storms that Wyoming is famous for! This site is on a working cattle ranch owned by the Latter Day Saints church. There are residences near by that house Missionary's from the church. They all work at Martins Cove, which has significant historical value to the church. The campground is $20.00 a night for RV's and $10.00 for tent camping. Go check out Independence Rock, Devils Gate and Martins Cove. They all have great historical value to the Westward expansion of our Country.

Each site has a picnic table. A lot of local attractions, if you are staying longer than one night. Sinclair gas station is across the street.
