AWARENESS: Red Desert Rose Campground was a overnight stay while traveling to and from South Dakota. One overnight in June 2022 and the other night was a few weeks later in July 2022. NARRATIVE: In June of 2022, we arrived at Red Desert Rose Campground around 6 pm. After setting up the 5th wheel and grabbing a cocktail, the wife and I went for a walk around the grounds. The park is an older one as you can see by the photos I took of the play area. Not much to do at the park itself but, the town just outside of the campground seems quaint and quiet. SCENE: Red Desert Rose Campground is located just off the I80 Freeway. The freeway sounds of cars and trucks wizzing can be heard and may interfere with your sleep. The park and its sites are gravel with very little grass or shade. RECOMMENDATION(S): For an overnight stop, this park will do. read more

We stayed here several years ago when the owners were engaged, attentive, and cared about their facilities. We enjoyed our stay and appreciated the friendly staff and amenities like a loaner vehicle, etc. Our most recent stay was a different story. There are new owners who recently acquired the facility from some careless previous owners who had let the place go downhill. Many of the fun things we enjoyed before were in bad shape or just not working. The new owners apologized for the "mess" and assured campers that they are working on restoring the campground to it's former glory. They were working on several items that we noted, like the mini golf, and the abundance of sticker weeds throughout the park area. One thing I regretted about our stay was that the office chose to park someone directly next to us for our single night stay when there were very few occupants and many many sites to choose from. At the very least, they could have separated each camper with an empty space in between. I understand if they were super busy and had most sites occupied, but there was hardly anyone there and we suddenly had a direct neighbor. I'm hopeful that they will be able to turn things around. I plan to check back in with them when I pass through the area. Their pricing was less than the adjacent RV park, that did not seem to offer much more. read more

This property needs a lot of work, and the new owners are working to upgrade the grounds and amenities. The restrooms and showers are very nice, clean, roomy, and well appointed. The staff is more than accommodating and works hard to provide good service. One thing I would recommend to them, though, is to keep the office open more. read more

This place is a wreck! Spaces are tight! Management appears to have a second job in a math lab. This place has changed hands a few times, and this one may be the worse. This place has potential, but unless someone unlocks it, it will just suck. We were placed immediately next to another camper even tho there were 20 other spaces to choose from. We were told the park would fill up because ALL spaces were reserved. When we woke up, the park was just as empty as when we went to sleep. The Red Desert Rose Campground is conveniently right off the highway, with large entrances/exits and pull through sites which make it easy to get in your site after a long day of driving. But, you will hear the highway as it is very close. The online check-in system was very easy to make a reservation, check-in and checkout. The staff is very friendly. Restroom/shower was very nice, and definitely made up for the lack of other facilities. However, the sites are very dry and dusty, no grass, and the wind blows the dirt around making it hard to sit outside and relax. There are plenty of places to eat within 1-2 miles, or if you don't want to unhook your rig (we stayed hooked up so we could leave early the next morning to get on the road), you can order delivery and it will come right to your site! Overall it was a welcoming place for these weary travelers, but I would not stay for more than an overnight. read more

Red Desert Rose Campground and RV Park is off I-80 in Rawlins, Wyoming. It's was the only park that answered the phone and had a pull-thru site large enough for our truck and trailer to pull in and not unhook (53' overall). Abbie is an absolute gem. She was so nice when we talked to her on the phone to book the site. The park is easy to find following her directions-although it was a quarter mile farther, it is worth it. We pulled in, exhausted from driving against a heavy wind and horrible roads before we hit I-80. Abbie and another (Sara?) greeted us so warmly as we entered they brought a smile. Check-in was smooth and easy. They even told us about the Wyo Lunch Box Comfort food truck that serves burgers, cheesesteaks, French Fries, onion rings and spritzers (an amazing looking drink that they said was so good!) and other things. See the menu photo I posted. The food was really good and so nice to no cook when we got in. The site was plenty long enough for us and quite level. We had a good nights rest. Service is excellent, the store has all sorts of snacks and RV items, they have a mini-golf course, playground, horseshoes, dog park, Rally room, laundry room, bathrooms and showers. Oh, and they sell propane! We only stayed one night but I recommend Red Desert Rose Campground and RV Park and would come back happily!! Thanks for the wonderful service! So there is a downfall to this place! If your staying long term yes the price is good BUT CHECK YOUR TRAILER FOR NICKS IN THW WINDOWS AND BODY! They mow the weeds which kicks up rocks! So we now have knicks in our windows and on the trailer paint! She knew she hit us because she looked up. read more

Very run down park. Looks like it was nice some time ago. Weeds everywhere. 7 piles of dog crap in our site. This is the most unmaintained park we have been in. It's way over priced at $50 a night. Very narrow pull through site that does not fit my truck and 35' 5th wheel hooked up. read more

We stayed here four nights. Wonderful staff/management. Our site was a graveled, mostly level, pull-through with full hookups, wi-fi, and cable. Their rest rooms/showers are the nicest and cleanest we have encountered. It looked like what you'd find in a nice hotel, not a campground. The only negative is that the sites are VERY close together. We had other fifth wheels on both sides of us and where or slide outs were extended we only had 2-3 get between us. (Also be aware that there is a train nearby that goes through 3-4 times between 2-4 a.m. Not really the campground fault, but something to be aware of.) read more

Total confusion upon check in, we paid for higher priced site, and was not available. Took several minutes to work that out. RV park is very outdated at best. Cable does not work, open sewer ditch (awful smell), restrooms filthy, sites all dirt. If you are out in the middle of Wyoming, save your money and stay in the local Walmart! It is a rough RV park, with rough characters roaming around. I suppose you get what you paid for. Will not return. read more

This was an overnight stay for us on a cross-country trip. Even with the pandemic, the rest rooms and showers are open and very well maintained/cleaned. All sites are gravel/dirt but very level. We had a full hookup, pull-through site. The fenced pet area is a bit rough and many owners unfortunately don't pick up after their pets. Be aware of that. The staff is fantastic and we're glad we made this a stop. Tip: it's very close to the interstate, so expect quite a bit of road noise. Also, the trains go all night long; there's no escaping that. We stayed here two nights. The first night was every rv owner's worst nightmare: the toilet backed up--for no obviously apparent reason! Ugh! The next day, we asked if the staff had any recommendations on how to fix this. They immediately got on the radio to their maintenance guy, Bill. Bill came right over with a hose and flushed our clog right own the drain. Bill was a godsend, and all of the staff here have given us absolutely the best customer service we have ever experienced at any rv park around the country. This place may not be that much to look at, and the pull through spaces are pretty tightly sandwiched together, but they make up for the ho-hum appearance and close proximity to your neighbors by going the extra mile with everything they offer here: laundry was great; community restrooms were outstanding; WiFi worked well; propane service (again, Bill) was rapid with a courtesy golf cart ride back to my rig; etc. read more

The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is, we simply weren't there long enough to make full use of the long list of amenities. But our brief overnight was an absolute pleasure. We were about 3 hours away when we called to secure a spot and had the joy of speaking with Samantha who cheerfully took our info and gave us our instructions. We arrived after hours picked up our paperwork and headed to our site. Clean, clear and well marked we were hooked up and settled in quick as you please. The facility is clean in all aspects and the faces are friendly. The Red Desert Rose is the only place to consider if you're stopping in Rawlins. And if you happen to be coming up from New Mexico, bring Samantha some Hatch Chillies! read more

Good location for an overnight stop. Agree with previous poster about the friendly staff. The difference maker between 4 vs 3 stars. Agree about really slow internet. The park is 90% gravel so it is dusty and noisy due to the crunching gravel and regular trains. Sites are tight but ok for an overnight stop. laundry room was clean and well functioning. Didn't use the showers here. Had a pull thru site that wasn't level at the front. This is a problem for us because our jack leveling system doesn't have left-to-right control on the front so we had to employ a 2x6 under our front right tire to level our DP. read more

The staff is very nice and accommodating. The camp ground had large pull through sites with full hookups, Internet and even cable. They even have a courtesy car if needed. My only suggestion would be to get rid of all the weeds and growth, it detracts from all of the positive things this park offers. Keep up the good work!!! read more

Great place to camp. Clean, flat and really friendly and helpful staff. There's a nice store with lots of items you may need. Of course overpriced. Clean laundry. Didn't use the restrooms so can't comment there. However please note their water pressure is extremely high and could affect your hot water supply. I would definitely recommend this camp site. The facility is a bit dated but the staff is awesome. I understand there are new owners and are doing their best to improve the facility. Background info: we are a 42 foot grand design solitude 5th wheel that has 7 people in it at the time of this visit. I'm gonna start with the good things because honestly there were a lot. 1. The restrooms were spotless. One of probably my favorite parts here. My family currently has 7 people in our rv with only 1 bathroom so we had to use their's a couple of times. It was nice walking into a completely clean bathroom and they even provided magazines to read when you're taking a number 2. 2. Our spot was completely clean too. We came in at about 9:30 and it was very easy to pull though despite a giant rock that was on our right rear side. 3. The water, sewage, electrical and cable hook ups were relatively close to us so we didn't have to use extenders on our sewage or even use our long hose 4. Their wifi was actually pretty good. I used to it to watch boss baby on and download some apps. It worked well for me and while it wasn't the fastest it was good for what I wanted. Now for the negatives 1. The spots while they were clean were really cramped. Meaning that if you wanted to go sit at your picnic table then you're probably next to your neighbors sewage line. You really couldn't open your awning or you'd hit your neighbor. 2. Their mini golf course was closed. I don't exactly know why, but when we passed it it had caution tape over the entrance. Wasn't that bummed about this as my family only stayed one night and left at about 11 in the morning, but if I was staying longer I'd be pretty bummed. All in all, this place is great for a short stop, but not one that I would've stayed at if it was more than 2 days. read more

Stopped here for one night on our way cross- country. I agree with the first reviewer- Very nice staff, even called me right away when I forgot something at our site, but... VERY depressing place. Broken down vehicles in the surrounding properties, Huge craters in the narrow gravel "roads", weeds everywhere. Dog park is a great addition, almost worth another star, but it was filthy. Full of dog waste and tall weeds. I popped in with my boys but left right away. Ladies room was very humid and had a slight mildew smell, although it was pretty clean. Shower was a bit slimy and had a disposible shelf-paper type liner that should have been changed a few patrons before. With a dog park, mini golf center, and playground, this place could be a lot more appealing if it was cleaned up. Sites are fairly roomy, though, and the park is reasonably quiet. read more

This campground is TOP NOTCH . The owners Dave & Rose take pride in it & in great customer satisfaction. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. They have a putt putt golf course, and scenic views. The hwy noise isn't bad at all . They sell propane and lots of rv supplies in store, along with milk, bread, perishables, fresh yard eggs, hygiene products, ice, ect. They have pedal carts for rent. They will loan you a bbq grill, or a water pressure regulator. Their staff live onsite and are available for after hour emergencies or problems. The give Vets 15% discount! Most sites are pull thru and almost all are 50 and 30 amp. They have very clean restrooms and showers, a great laundrymat. 4 washers $1.50 XL load, 6 dryers $1.25 Go for 45 minutes. Great playground for kids and next to it, a fenced in doggie play park! Hot coffee in the mornings, check out time 11am. Oh best of all, a FREE LOANER VEHICLE, if you don't want to unhook ! Don't waste your time anywhere else. read more

Spaces were plenty long enough for our 35' 5th wheel plus the truck. Staff was extremely nice. However the spaces are very tight. When you walk out your door you feel like you are walking into the next rig over. Cable cost extra but worked well. WiFi is horrible. No internet connection at least 50% of the time. read more

Stopped for the night and VERY impressed. Staff was very friendly. Bathrooms have been all redone and are very nice and clean. Showers are a small but have all new tile and and very clean. Laundry is exceptional. Has many washers and dryers very nice and clean. Upon checking in, which went very quickly. All paperwork was ready so spent very little time in office. We have two dogs and we were handed doggie treats for both and even chocolate treats for my husband and I. I realize that part was unnecessary however it's all those unnecessary things that makes a place great. They also have a car we could use if we needed to go into town and didn't want to unhook out 5th wheel. We have NEVER had that before. The only negative thing I have to say is there are no trees however there aren't any anywhere else. It's kind of a desert here (thus the name). The staff and cleanliness makes up for the lack of trees. I highly recommend Red Desert Rose. We will definitely stop here when traveling through again. read more

Agree with other descriptions of this park. It is just a big gravel lot with hookups; ugly and quite dumpy. On a positive note, the roads in and out of it are adequately roomy and the site was level. It was also very inexpensive. Wifi and cable were available and staff was friendly. it served us in a pinch since it was right off the freeway and the only thing we could find after a long day of travel. read more

The RV sites are in a featureless gravel lot, but I give this place 4* for the amenities. The laundry room was spotless, 4 washers and dryers, a long shelf for folding, and wheeled baskets. Also, a book exchange shelf--one of my favorite things. The restroom/showers were equally clean and well-thought out, with towel bars and lots of hooks, and lively decor. The staff I saw were pleasant, helpful and cheerful. There's also a nice mini golf and playground, which we didn't use, and a fenced dog run, which our dog enjoyed. The people here make this a five star park! The park itself is older and you can tell they are doing their best to make improvements, it is a work in progress. The sites are a bit tight, and they are not real level, but the folks here do their best to help you with that. The office and facilities are clean and comfortable. Fun stuff for passing the time includes a miniature golf course, horse shoe pits, pedal cars and playground right at the park. They have a nice dog park. The loaner car made a trip to the local museums and restaurants much easier. Other reviewers have talked about the trains and freeway traffic, but they are easily disguised with white noise and it is a trade off for the easy to get to location. My biggest issue, as with many places I have stayed, is the intermittent internet connection, and they are working on that. I will stay here again, and plan to do so next year! read more

Although the campground lacks shade, it's due to the region it's in! It's also a very windy area. The most negative things are the continual trains running all day and night and s-l-o-w internet. So crank up a fan or white noise machine. The grounds and buildings are well maintained. What makes this campground 5 stars in my review are the owners/operators. The campground has a courtesy vehicle which we had to borrow due to a emergency hospital trip and to the Walmart pharmacy after for prescription fills. They were concerned about my welfare upon return from the hospital and were understanding of our predicament, which included an extra day's stay for motor home starter issues as well as health issues. This was a great stop! The staff was super friendly!!! We arrived right at close and they still we're so friendly. We even left our house regulator at last park and they gave us one to borrow!!! Large dog park for dogs and very clean restrooms. It is gravel parking but it was even and very clean. Yes you are by the freeway but it I never had problems with noise it actually was pretty quiet. read more

You will love this charming full service campground. The friendly staff is your first great impression. That, followed by a very organized place. We don't have kids, but there are a lot of activities for them to do and they activities are away from the general camping area. Very clean and efficient laundry area. Wifi is even offered and is actually pretty good! The setting is quite nice being on the edge of town. Mountain views, nice sunset and dark enough at night to star gaze. read more

We arrived very late, around 11 pm, and our check in packet was waiting for us inside the first door. The tent site was basic, but nice. The bathrooms were immaculate and I was highly impressed. The next day, the staff answered questions about some things to do (we toured the Wyoming Frontier Prison--highly recommended!). The campsite is cute with a mini golf course, and fun things to take pictures with. This campsite is near the freeway. If you're staying in a tent, bring earplugs. It was convenient, inexpensive and clean. Would definitely recommend. read more
