This butcher shop is a MUST stop on our way to our family cabin AND home. We like to grab sausages to cook for everyone as appetizers then on our way back home we stop to stock up our fridge and freezer. The prices are great and the quality is excellent! We really enjoy the chili cheese sausages, but they have a ton of variety's. They also sell some rubs, sauces, cheesecakes. It's really a cool place to check out for sure, worth the stop!! read more

This meat market is a cooperative of local ranchers from around the area. They have a particular slaughterhouse they use. I don't know if it is part of the cooperative or just a contracted arrangement. I contacted them because I wanted a whole beef tenderloin for Thanksgiving. The market had me call the slaughterhouse directly and talk with the purveyor directly. My tenderloin came from animal processed just before Thanksgiving and delivered to the market in Jamestown for me to pick up. They also will process your game if you are a hunter. They also make their own sausages which are very good. I was told that a fair amount of customers want prime rib for the holiday season. They have a special additional refrigerator in back they use for the holidays. The storefront was clean and orderly. The gentleman at the counter was knowledgeable and friendly. This was my first visit to this shop, and I was impressed. Very wide variety of options. Beef, pork, chicken, and various different marinated meat options as well. The place is tiny, and they pack a ton into a small shop. I was dying to smoke some ribs, and I got the Hawaiian marinated pork ribs. When I smoke them up, the marinade was not great. It was okay, but it was my mistake. I knew better than to get a rack of ribs that were marinated, and I shouldn't have. I also picked up 2 red wagyu ribeye, and I don't wanna say what I think the red might stand for. Anyway, I grilled those up and they were delicious. I would definitely buy them again. I also picked up some beef jerky, and I ate it in the car on the way to my friends house. It was the flat, thin, over dehydrated kind of jerky. Flavors were good, but I prefer a meaty jerky, not the paper thin variety. I also bought myself some BBQ sauce, which I never do. I generally like to either make my own, or go with a brand I am familiar with. I was feeling froggy, so I just grabbed a jar. Turns out, it has sliced cranberries in it! I though they were olives, but my friend looked on the back to see it. Not terrible, but also, kinda weird. Overall, I really like this shop. Good variety, excellent pricing, and freshness was on point. I'll be back when I am down this way. read more

Their staff members are friendly and they offer a wide variety of different cuts & types of meat & poultry including exotic meats you won't find at the grocery store. They offer seasonings, marinaded meats to simplify those work day meals, beef jerky, even a section for pets - our dogs love the ground beef hearts and one of our favorites, is the Bloody Mary marinaded Tri-tip. Amazing! Got the baby back ribs ( can't remember the rub) and a Tri tip. They both where so amazing and juicy. The ribs had so much meat on them I could not get enough. To the saleswoman who was on the phone when I drove up today at about 1:00p.m. The door to the shop was open and no other customers were there. I had a mask and gloves on, waiting outside until you were off the phone. When you finished your call, I asked if you had a mask, you went to get it and put it on below your nose. Seriously? I just go back in my car and left. I've always had a good experience at this shop. But this is the second time I've had to ask the salesperson to put a mask on. I mean how much can you really expect from Sonora? (no offense) The lady at the counter was nice and the meats were organized well. It seemed promising until I realized it was a freezer and not a refrigerator. The meat was surprisingly good though. I give this a three star rating because it's not fresh. It's frozen and we have no idea how long the meats have been frozen for. I get that this isn't a busy place, but at the same time why would I come here when I can get meat that's not frozen at Safeway? Also, the prices are steep for meat that is not fresh. Stopped in here while we were up in Jamestown and picked up a variety of different types of sausage. They advertise having goat meat but they were out of it when we came in. I was a little disappointed with that but things happen apparently it is a popular item for Easter dinner. I picked up about seven or eight different varieties of sausage and I also picked up some beef jerky. We had some of the maple sausage last night with our dinner and it was very good. This is definitely a place I would stop in again. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and courteous and very informative. The majority of what they have is frozen. I recommend buying the economy box as it comes with an array of different grass fed beefs and other non chemical meat products. On our first visit we were taken for a counter-by-counter tour of the products and families that produced them. Mrs. Hurst even invited us to join her at church if we hadn't found a new church home. The quality of meat and other products at Rawhide is unrivaled. There is no such thing as "customer service" because you are treated like a friend and neighbor. Amazing meat here! We buy our pork belly here, as I think they are the only place in the area that carries it. Everything they have is really high quality. Can't beat buying local! They also make their own sausage and marinate meat. I've never had access to a butcher before, so finding Rawhide Quality Meats was particularly exciting. The prices here and not bad considering the quality of the meet and the ability to support a local business. The Korean short ribs cooked well on the BBQ after marinating in bulgogi sauce. The smoked bacon was hands-down the BEST bacon that I've ever had. The flavor was so fresh and clean - better than any store bought bacon. Their sausages are also superb. I'm a sucker for anything with cheese or jalapeños and the ones at Rawhide are excellent. Lastly, a hidden gem here is the beef jerky. I loved eating Slim Jims as a child and these are seriously gourmet - not greasy, great beefy flavor, no artificial nastiness like Slim Jims! Next on my list to try is the smoked chicken. It's only a few dollars more than the cost of a rotisserie chicken without the hassle of smoking it myself! read more

I love this place! The meat is outstanding and so is the service. We have tried the tri-tip, chicken, sausage, bacon, and steaks, all top notch. I can also get great bones for soup and bone broth that I make for our dogs. It is so good to know that we are not ingesting the steroids and other things that are pumped into the grocery store meat.
