He exited the freeway and took the side streets which saved quite a bit on time as I found out later there was a major accident at the 101/405 split. Historic significance lays in the fact that famous DC-3 & military aircraft was produced by Douglas Aircraft Co in Santa Monica at the airport before it had moved to Long Beach.
