This is a very lowkey bar on the basement level. As a result, it can get a bit stuffy since there's not much ventilation. On the plus side, the bartenders are great and the drinks are cheap. During the summertime, they have a small beer garden outside. read more

I'm really not sure how to rate this place. If you're looking for a place to finish off your night after 2am and you're already plenty drunk, it's about a 4. If you go in there stone-sober anytime before midnight, it's one star if you're lucky. So I'll try to be fair and toss it a 2. I might have been able to go up to a 3, but the inch of standing water in the bathroom was a bit of a turn off. There are definitely better options in the late-night scene. read more

4AM BAR! 4AM BAR! An oasis in the otherwise post-collegiate fratbars of LP. Small, has a beer garden, and usually pretty tame. This is right around the corner from my place, and it is the last stop on the trail usually. I read some reviews about the bathrooms and the popcorn being unfavorable. I've never attempted to eat the popcorn, so I cannot report firsthand information on that. However, I can confirm that the bathrooms are forbiddingly small. Are they ADA compliant? I don't know. I am throwing out terms like that. But other than that, not too bad. Here's the takeaway though: nice bar tenders, not so cheap drinks, and jukebox. Best of all, eclectic crowd: something rare to find in LP. I enjoy this bar very much. read more

The place is fine overall for a late night dive bar, but the red headed bartender we had, Claire seemed very neurotic. She kept talking about how she was rude bitch to some girl and got off on it. She just looked crazy and unstable. I came to drink with my buddies, not hear about your messed up life. This review is specifically about one the most embarrassing and ridiculous employee (bartender) who works at this great place. Being a bartender myself I was shocked by this unprofessional flip out without any particular reason. Me and my co-workers usually come to this place on Fridays after long day of work for couple drinks and amazing fun and friendly bartenders. This week we stopped by on Wednesday unfortunately non of the Friday staff was there and a place was surprisingly slow, soon I figured out why its only 10 ppl in there out of my own horrible experience. We had 2-3 rounds of drinks, bartender (hipster-looking man with a bushy beard) calls last call at 3-35 am. Right after i politely ask for last round of shots letting him know we are leaving after. Respond was rude: "Well you will have fireball ! ' me: "I'm sorry I can have that (coz i'm allergic to cinnamon by the way) can we please have vodka with splash of cranberry? You totally don't have to chill it or anything" bartender: "Are you Fuck**g kidding me? It's 3-40am I'm not mixing you sh*t! Get a F*ck out here! all of you!" me: "Excuse me, why are you yelling at me when you just said it's 3-40am and a bar closes at 4am!?" After that I got even more ridiculous reaction, he was throwing things around and yelling as if he is about to physically fight with me (i'm a tiny looking woman). Next day out of curiosity I asked couple customers and co-workers if they ever had such an issue, turns out that this particular man being rude and obnoxious towards every each of them and no one else but him. So they simply stopped coming to this place at all. Which explains why this place is so dead during week days. This man is an embarassment and a big shame for the whole service industry and this establishment in particular! If you can't handle working with people, stay friendly and professional THIS JOB IS NOT FOR YOU!!!! People, please don't think we are all the same! And i can assure you Friday and Saturday team in this bar is amazing !!!! I hate yelp and I never write reviews but I had to let know people to avoid this kind of treatment! read more

This was an absolute awesome visit. As out of towners we were looking for a fun little bar and it was exactly that. Underground and a small place with lots of different types of beer, exactly what we wanted. The highlight of our experience however was the bartenders friendliness. If you happen to have Bernard, prounounced "Ber-Nerd" you are in luck. He knows a lot about the city and treats you as a regular. A great experience, fun time, with lots of great games and popcorn. This place is filthy and the bartenders are rude and unfriendly, especially the chubby one with the bushy beard. They also have a rodent problem, keep a lookout below the popcorn machine and you will likely see mice. There are plenty of other bars in Lincoln Park to visit. read more

I've gone here MANY times over years, since 96' and hung with friends and spent TONS of money here. I used to be a reg to NEO and thus also hung at this place before or after. MANY times just coming there for a night with a bro or two. Recently even took my dog keeping him on the front porch (on a slow night) and he's trained and everyone loves him. He's a big baby of a super socialized rottie. So I show up tonight after a long run and a girl meets me at the stairs. Saying first off you can't come in with that cigar (I was about to put it out anyway, I live here, I'm not retarded) and second you can't have a dog out here... I said "that's cool if you want to be anti dog whatever" and turned around and left. Problem for them is they lost a fairly reg recently customer that tips big on every drink and is nice and can hold their liquor. Really a stupid business move on their part. Just recently going out a lot more and as I knew people (I DID like the place and it's diversity, inclusive nature, nice people, etc) but you are so ANAL you don't want a trained dog who STAYS being on your patio... yeah... bite me. read more

I came here right around the holidays and watched the female bar tender literally attack one of the female customers. It was the strangest things I've ever seen, she even came from behind the bar and some of the other customers had to hold her back. Walking on Clark Street on overcast Saturday afternoon, hoping to sit outside for a beer with my girlfriend, see the empty patio at Ravens. Give it a try. Order 2 beers, surly bartender, unusual for an empty place. A bicycle is chained to fence, out of way. Watch bartender come out and let air out of both tires of bike. Totally flat, unrideable. Amazed. Pay our bill and leave. No tip. No surprise the place is empty, even on a warm afternoon. A dive is a compliment for this misanthropic joint. read more

This is a 4 AM bar, with the people / atmosphere you would expect of a place that is open that late. I've only been here after other places have closed. This late night spot is very low key and can get very stuffy! It is in the bottom of a building on Clark St. and they take cash only which can be brutal at the end of a night. They are open until 4 am which is the only reason I might stop by here. The bar gets very hot due to the lack of windows. read more
