We had Rasta Taco cater our wedding. The food was delicious, and everything showed up on time. However, dealing with our rep, Svetlana, was not enjoyable. 1. She approached our table DURING THE SPEECHES at our reception, presenting us with a survey form to provide feedback... I literally could not believe how rude and unprofessional that was. 2. She kept calling our phones to verify last-minute details, even though she had the number of our day-of coordinator - again, not professional. 3. She charged us extra for a few flour tortillas... to accommodate for THE BRIDE'S corn allergy... so petty, insulting, and unnecessary, when we were already paying them thousands of dollars. 4. We ordered cocktail hour appetizers, thinking Rasta would have everything pre-made and just walk around with them for our guests, or at least have them available near the bar - they did not, so very few people ate the cocktail hour appetizers. 5. She did not let us know that Rasta would not have any lighting around their truck, where the food was being served, so we did not know to bring anything for them - our guests had a very hard time seeing the tables with the sides and toppings in the dark. So, while the food was good, I would not recommend Rasta Taco catering for your wedding. read more

We got Rasta Taco for a ~40 person backyard party and it was a hit! Their set-up was well-presented and they were totally self-sufficient (needed water for the chafing dishes, but that's a given). They arrived at the agreed upon time to start setting up and they confirmed with me before starting to serve. Where do I begin? I hired Rasta Taco this summer for a birthday party for my husband. Their salesperson planned out a delicious menu with many upgrades. I expected quite an elegant affair because of the promises of gourmet food from an experienced catering kitchen. Not to mention the fact that they are a bit costly! Well let me tell you, it wasn't quite what I had expected. Their staff was nice enough, but they arrived late. When they finally began grilling, I noticed that the meat they were using was frozen! Really - for gourmet tacos? The food was good, but not spectacular. Lastly, at the end of the evening, they were reluctant to leave the extra food and beverages that I had paid for. Went to an event a week ago that hired these dudes to make sure people didn't get too drunk-on-an-empty-stomach. Not sure how the pricing typically goes as I simply attended the event. In this instance, it was $5 for a wristband that gets you all-you-can-eat tacos. I wasn't expecting a whole lot after reading the first review here, but holy cow! These guys do work! Meat appeared to be pre-cooked and then reheated on a portable, flat-top, cart like griddle. I can understand being taken aback by it not being served 'fresh' as in, raw then cooked in front of you fresh, but their recipes wouldn't be as tasty, efficient, and economical if they didn't do it the way they do. Carne asada was pretty, I hate to say average, but it was. The chicken they do in some kind of sweet jerk style, is incredible. Really. I opt for carne over chicken 10 times out of 10 - this was the one exception. Thoroughly impressed. Salsa was a bit on the mild side, but I'm the guy that needs to be sweating from spiciness to say it's just right. Squeeze of lime on the classic flat top cooked, double corn tortilla makes this 4 stars easy. +1 star for the guys working the stand being extra incredibly mellow and curteous - and happy to cook extra tacos even though their time was up. *Also noticed them pack-up the leftovers and leave them at the event with no fuss at all. read more

Rasta Taco catered a lunch-time taco Tuesday we hosted for 200 of our clients and did an AMAZING job. Mario (the owner) is super easy to work with and was flexible enough to accomodate our last minute changes (increases) to our order until our event started. We had 3 different kinds of tacos, rice, beans, salad, chips & salsa. I just wish we had ordered more since the food was so popular! They arrived on-time, looked professional, and made great food. I want to thank Mario and Maria for the excellent service and quality food. We held a celebration of my sons life at our home for 200 people. Rasta Taco were on time, service outstanding and our guests were impressed with the food both quality and serving portions. The servers stayed longer than expected-which was appreciated as I hosted a difficult and busy day. They were sensitive to our needs and our guests. We had 2 taco carts, chips. Guacamole, appetizers and sangria. The price was reasonable. The servers packed the extra unused sangria-(my fault-I should have poured it I to pitchers or told them I wanted them to leave the rest) and Maria offered to refund a portion of our payment. I said no! They went above and beyond already. I would use them again as they were reliable and friendly. A huge thanks go out to the servers and staff. Thanks again Mario and Maria. read more

Sorry to all the bad reviews but this food was delicious!!! My mom had these guys cater my stepdad's birthday this year and it was fantastic!!!! The pork was to friggin' die for(yeah, I did have it for breakfast the next morning, so what?) The rice was also soooo good and I am more of a bean person. The salsas were fresh and the prefect toppers to the tacos and taquitos. Not to mention the guys were super cool and put up with our ever evolving drunken behavior. After reading the good reviews, we were very disappointed with Rasta Taco service and the food at our backyard party. We ordered Carnitas, potato and chicken tacos and got veggie and chicken! When I called Monday to complain, one of the owners agreed to refund some of the money. But I would have much rather had the good tacos and service we thought we would get, than the meager meal we had. It was embarrassing to us to serve only chicken tacos to our guests. The veggie mix, which was unrecognizable chopped veggies, were not well-received by our guests and the taco guy had tried to pass it off as potato. And the taco guy didn't accept any responsibility. He said he packed the carnitas and when he got here, it was just not in the cooler. He was a kid and never even introduced himself. He needs to learn how to communicate and to accept responsibility for his errors. I asked him to call the office and have someone send the carnitas and potatoes out to us, but after trying, he said there was no one to do that. Had he told us sooner, maybe it could have been resolved, but with guests arriving there was no time to go out and try to find some kind of carnitas at the market. The menu mistake, as they called it, was a big deal. Instead of our carnitas, potato and chicken tacos, that I ordered and pre-paid for, we got chicken and veggie. So two thirds of the taco options we ordered were not there. We ate the chicken almost completely, but most of the veggie mix ended up in the garbage. The beans and rice, condiments and salsas were good. The guacamole did not taste freshly made, and seemed store-bought. Overall, it was a bad experience. I had to apologize to my family and guests and know they will remember the name Rasta Taco. The owner did say she was sorry and that the guy had probably picked up the wrong cooler, but that was a huge mistake. I don't understand why someone could not have brought the right food out to us and tried to make it right. read more

What a great resource for super tacos and wonderful service. This was a small group (50) at our house for a Wedding Shower, and it was VERY HOT outside, but did Mario complain? Nope, smiled and kept cooking. We look up and a thunderstorm is headed our way and I ran outside and the smile was still there and he said not to worry he wasn't going anywhere. Dear Mario, I wanted to let you know what a fabulous job Jacob and Daniel did last week at my party!!! The first words out of Jacob's mouth were "Well I'm here to make you happy!" What a breath of fresh air!!! They had great attitudes, cared about every detail of their presentation, and of course did an amazing job cooking!!! I am a huge Rastataco fan!! Not only does your company cater, they bring an atmosphere of celebration with them. They were professional and fun...quite the balancing act and they did a great job!! And the clean-up was perfect!! Hired these guys for a backyard wedding. They came 45 minutes late, didn't bring enough staff (as promised) to feed 200+ people, and didn't bring enough food (as promised). They food was good but definitely won't be using them again for any event that we have. read more

I hired Rasta Taco for a Jamaican themed party I had to plan for work. Since I had never had Rasta Taco, or knew anybody personally that had, I crossed my fingers and hoped that the Yelp reviewers had great taste. I figured how bad can you screw up a taco, so I gave them a call. I dealt with Maria from beginning to end, she was super responsive and never acted put out when I called to ask dumb questions or even when I gave her my final count...then changed it a few hours later! When the day of the event came everthing seemed to be coming together, except that it was being held outside and it was about 9000 degrees that day. The Taco Boys (as we were calling them) Gavin, Wesley and Stan, showed up on time and immediately got to work. They were friendly, and blended right in to our laid back easygoing party atmosphere. As I mentioned it was extremely hot, and they were behind hot grills, I felt so bad for them. But man were they making some delicious tacos, the food was excellent I was thrilled. Not one complaint..not one! Do you know how unbelievable that is with over 130 people in attendance. We had games, a balloon sculpture and a band, but all I keep hearing about is the food. Rasta Taco made my party a success and that made my boss happy, the only bad news is that I'm probably going to have to plan this thing again next year...ughh.. If I do Rasta Taco will definately be there! read more

Rasta Taco catered a Thanksgiving Day Taco Dinner on the beach in San Diego for our soccer team. They were incredibly easy to work with and reasonably priced. I liked how we could design our own menu by picking from the options. Mario the owner was very accommodating to our needs. He even travelled down to SD to the location and scouted out the site to make sure it would work out as desired. The food was DELICIOUS - fresh, tasty, plentiful! They arrived on time (despite the 3 hours it took to get to our even), the chef Jacob was friendly and pleasant. He served with a big smile the entire event. People were lined up for third and fourth helpings. Everyone was so sad when there was absolutely no food left because it was so delicious! I would recommend them for any party or event. The uniqueness of the taco cart was also fun. Our whole team was so happy with their non-traditional Thanksgiving on the beach! You will not be disappointed read more
