    Chicken Tikka Masala
    Erika S.

Listen I love me some Rasa! Ever since I was first introduced to them thru Yelp. Now I am working on a 6 week project at Navy Yard. Ask me how many times I have had them in a 2 week span :-) lol. Today marks number 5. Today we were greeted by Dejuan who not only made recommendations but also supplied us with top customer service. I got a bowl with arugula, chicken, chickpeas, yellow rice, cucumbers, corn and to top it all off the chickpea noodles! The quality of food here is what makes me keep coming back. I try something new each time, whether it is the lamb, or a topping or a sauce.

So, I stumbled on Rasa randomly as I was trying to decide on what my taste buds desired as I walked from the Wharf to the Navy Yard. While walking past and eventually into Rasa, I immediately noticed that they were a cute, casual spot, that served Indian food. Needless to say I was sold. Rasa gives Chipotle/CAVA/Bindaas vibes (affordable food with decently healthy options). Additionally, the workers here were patient with honest recommendations, which I greatly appreciated. Prior to making such a hard decision lol, I sampled the chicken to help solidify my choice. The chicken by itself was flavored very well, which led me to get the Tikka Chance on Me Bowl. The bowl itself was great, portion wise, however there were some sauces and ingredients within the bowl that reduced the impact-fulness of that wonderfully flavored chicken. Due that, the bowl was just average to me. Overall, I had a good experience and will be open to trying something different at Rasa that amplifies the flavors of their chicken.

would've given it five stars if one of the employees was a bit kinder in her approach. the food was good for fast food indian and i love that they had a vegan masala chai soft serve option. i did not love that i wasn't told there would be an up charge. the way they rang up a customized bowl felt like an up charge. instead of informing me kindly the woman was kind of like so be it. didn't love that and felt a bit petty. ordered a bowl with lamb and cauliflower and potatoes with the fixings. it was pretty good and filling. we had some garlic naan on the side and i ordered a couple scoops of the soft serve with their chai cookies as well. again, a chai lover here. love the flavor! appreciated the education around the owners and all the nods to indian culture around the restaurant.

Summary: solid meal. We ordered for pickup, so not too much to be said about service, but it's kind of like Indian food meets CAVA/Chipotle. The portion size in my case was a bit underwhelming and they were a bit stingy with the sauce for my entree. Otherwise, the flavor was good and the shrimp was cooked very well. It's a great meal for a reasonable price and they have a good selection of drinks too.

I'm late to the Rasa train but I'm glad I'm on it now! Rasa is hella good and very reasonable for the quality of food. The decor is super cute and colorful with swing chairs included. It is very spacious for DC and more like a Chipotle style line when you enter. The menu has a great variety of bowls, drinks (nonalcoholic and alcoholic) and desserts. I've had their butter chicken bowls, mango lassi frozen yogurt and hot masala chai. All 5 stars! I'll have to try new items next time I go but I like sticking to my regular order lol.

Rasa is fabulous and I wouldn't be surprised if it keeps growing like Cava did. Like others have said, it's kind of like "Chipotle but Indian"--except there are dishes you can actually order without choosing each ingredient, they have more options for sides (the samosas are my favorite!), they have alcoholic beverages (including local beers!), they have much cuter decor (very colorful and hip), and they have an adorable origin story. In that sense, it's better than Chipotle and shouldn't be compared! Service was excellent, and I loved everything I ate. Unsurprisingly for Indian cuisine, there were plenty of options for me as a vegetarian. I highly recommend Rasa!

This is my 3rd time here. Love the food. It's fresh and healthy I think. $5 first bowl

We checked out Rasa for the first time for a quick, casual dinner after a comedy show in Navy Yard. I love Cava / fast casual bowls and Indian food, so I was excited for Rasa! The flavors were delicious. I made my own bowl, but I think next time I would try one of their curated creations. The samosa chaat was underwhelming unfortunately! I loooove samosas so I was looking forward to that side dish - but the samosas were super dry. The ambiance inside the restaurant is super cute and cozy. I will be visiting the downtown location for lunch soon!

I ordered Rasa for delivery while in my hotel in DC and I was so glad to have tried it! Really fresh flavors, good portions, and a good price. I ordered a Greens+ Grains bowl. You can build your own bowl. I ordered mine with tofu, cauliflower, rice, greens, chickpeas, tomato, avocado + chutneys. Also ordered garlic naan, samosa chaat, and masala chai cookies. The food was really delicious! Great flavors. Only downfall was I didn't get any tofu despite ordering some in the bowl and the chai cookies weren't very the best/fresh. The naan was yummy though and complimented all the flavors in the bowl well. Definitely a great option for delivery or to even dine in as it looked like a nice spot!

I have never been to a beach party in Goa, but I would love to go someday. I imagine that visiting Rasa gives a little bit of what that might be like, in the best possible way. One of their menu items mentions Goa and I have been thinking of it ever since. Service was smiling, warm, friendly, attentive and casual. I felt like I could ask anything that I needed to as a novice with Indian cuisine. We ordered the lamb bowl. It was a large amount of food/a good value... rich with complex layers of flavor. I finished mine before I could take a photo. Oops! The desserts were two varieties of "creamy crack" in that they were good enough to become addictive. I ate both and left The Date to fend for himself. :#) I'm sorry to post photos of empty dishes but the food was gone by the time that I gathered my wits. I'm sure to be back very soon and will try to get a photo.

We typically do take out/pick up using the online ordering. This time we did order ahead and set a time for our food to be ready. When we got to the restaurant it was packed and ready to go when we requested for it to be ready. I've never dined in but we do like the decor of the restaurant. There are lots of color usage but not over the top and I really do like the hanging egg shaped basket chairs. They're fun looking. Our food was good. I ordered a Tikka chance on me. Chickens good and enjoy the sauces veggies and other toppings. One customization I do is half basmati rice and half noodles, I like the variety. There are a lot of options to build your own if you want to be creative or have a particular craving. Will be back for more bowls and garlic naan!

Best of all, there are mini donuts that are 1/2 of the size of the regular donuts (they have both!). The Classic flavors, mostly cake donuts are in the back while the seasonal yeast donuts and specialty pastries (croissant donut hybrids) are in the display case in the front. The issue is that while the donuts in the front are neatly labeled, the labels are teeny-tiny for the donuts in the back and impossible to read. I wish the labels were larger and there was a large menu for the full list of donuts (instead of the small chalkboard for just seasonal donuts). The super fluffy and moist cake Cider Cake Glazed hit the spot! Even though I prefer warm cider cake donuts, I didn't mind that it was room temperature. I couldn't resist the temptation to save the donut for the kids and noshed on the full donut not even leaving a crumb to spare! Nom nom nom. The seasonal (Sept & March) Brown Sugar Bourbon donut was fun to try. It was topped with delicious maple cinnamon frosting with a custard filling. While I couldn't taste the Bourbon flavor, the donut was tasty. The Mocha Donut filled with Mocha buttercream hit the spot! The seasonal (March) Matcha Latte cake Donut was divine! The seasonal (Oct) Caramel Apple Crumble Donut hit the spot with a maple salted caramel frosting and apple pie filling. I wasn't a fan of the Salted Caramel Cider or the Chocolate Cake donuts. They were a bit dry and after a couple of bites, I threw in the towel on both donuts. I also didn't like the Hazelnut cream donut (not a Nutella or ganache frosting that I expected). The Matcha donut filled with strawberry cream (April special) wasn't that good, the cream was way too sweet. Will come back for the Glazed Cider and seasonal donuts!

I tried the lobster roll ($39) and Cajun Branzino ($49) and both were good. The lobster roll was Maine-style -- cold with mayo -- which is not my preferred style, but it was still pretty good. The side of fries were great -- crispy and well-seasoned. I liked that the lobster roll had a specific price on the menu and not just "MP." The branzino was also very good. Everyone else had good things to say about their dishes, which included the clam chowder, seafood linguini, and caesar salads. Service was good but uneven in spots; there were some nice touches, but also a few misses. For example, they poured the canned beer for us tableside and remembered a guest's birthday with a small slice of cheesecake (free). But, they forgot crackers to go with the clam chowder, didn't deliver dishes to the correct people, and were a few minutes late bringing the last entree after all the others had arrived. It was a busy night, but also they should be used to that. We sat in the back dining area and the ambiance was fine.

They serve shoestring fries - just like McDonalds, but not as golden and not as crispy. The sandwich had good structure and was filling, but the chicken was bland and dry. I could've used some more sauce. I think I'm used to Nando's chicken which is moister and full of saucy flavor. The Spanish cheese (Mahón) along with the crackers and mustard sauce was superb. All the meats had their own characteristics and unique flavors but the jamón stood out to us the most. It even went well with the sauce that came for our cauliflower dish. It was fun piecing the components together to make unique tasty bites. I would come back just for the charcuterie alone. The drinks we got were Angelli's Ferrari along with the espresso martini-ish. My favorite was definitely the Ferrari one, but the espresso martini was super mild and had a slight coffee flavor. Good for people who like very light coffee. The Ferrari one was very bright and had lots of fruity notes to hide the alcohol. For entrées, we had the shakshouka, crispy, cauliflower, and brunch pork belly. Out of all these the cauliflower was definitely my favorite; super light with good earthy flavors and nuttiness and acidity from the lemon. The brunch pork belly was good too. The meat was perfectly cooked, but I found the beans to be a little bit overwhelming. I'm not a fan of baked beans personally so that might've been my fault for picking the dish, but I still did enjoy it and the pork that was well cooked made up for it; definitely for someone who likes beans. Shakshouka was very hearty with a lot of tomatoes and red vegetables in general. If you like lasagna or any sort of tomato spaghetti dish, you will like this one. I found this to be a bit much though. I was slightly tired of the flavor at the end. Just be aware it is a bit spicy. We had a pear tart for dessert. Honestly, it reminded me of an apple pie and it was good, but I think that some of the other desserts would've been a bit better. Had a lot of sweet cinnamon notes along some crispy flaky dough from the outside. It was an interesting take but it was still good. The atmosphere is great here; we had seating on the second floor, so it was different from the busy first floor. Very relaxed and there's a lot of natural light coming around which made everything feel very welcoming. Our server was also super friendly. I will definitely be back at this place

The pita bread is thick and garlicky and oily and massive. The croquettes would be at the bottom of my list simply because they're dissimilar from any I've had before and a little bit underwhelming. The tuna was fresh but it's a small dish and not much to write home about. The lamb skewers have a subtle kick to them and they're pretty substantial. I'll definitely be back to try more!
