Brought in car for oil change, tire rotation and state inspection. When car was ready the inspection wouldn't pass. Told that someone must have disconnected the battery. Told to drive for 60-100 miles to reset it. Last time anyone opened the hood was a year ago there for an oil change and inspection. When I mentioned that no one had a reason to disconnect the battery so why now does the car need to be reset by driving it now. They gave me a bill for the inspection that never happened. I had no choice but to leave and called Audi. They said the only reason this happened was that whoever did the oil change thought he was resetting the service due notice but actually reset the engine which would require a drive. Went back today for the inspection and passed and was charged again. Total cost of inspection $21 the first attempt and $11 the second plus gas and time to put on the mileage. Be honest and owning up would have kept me a customer. read more

I have been using Rapid Tire for the past three years and they continue to impress me. While there is no waiting room with wifi, or any customer luxuries, their service is so fast that you don't even need one. A typical visit goes like this: The day before I call them and request the specific tire and size I want, which they order without any deposit (which to me seems crazy but I'm ok with it), the next day I show up without any appointment, a team of guys swarm my car, remove the wheels and tires, mount and balance the new ones, and reinstall all four wheels before I'm even out of the office after paying! They also stand by their work, once they did a tire for me and it did not feel right when driving, they without question rebalanced it for no charge. The best story I have is that I needed a replacement tire for my VW GTI, which came with Pirellis. The office guy told me on the phone that he would be happy to sell me a $200+ Pirelli, but recommended a $160 Kumho, taking the time to explain that it was a better tire, which he had had much better luck with. He also pointed out that he would rather sell me a better tire knowing that I would be back, than to sell me a more expensive tire and be pissed off and never return. Rapid Tire has always enjoyed a good reputation for doing the right thing. Here's an example. My son got new tires there and apparently one of the wheel covers wasn't properly attached. When he got home he noticed it was missing. When he went back and told them, they couldn't have been more apologetic and they made it right by actually paying for a new set of four. This was for a car that was over 12 years old!!!! I even worked for a company - a very frugal company - that used them for their fleet. Desperately needing tires for my car I decided to give them a try. I say "desperately" needed them because I have such a mistrust for mechanics that my car ends up falling apart around me before I attempt getting anything fixed. If you're wondering why I'd hesitate after how they treated my son, it's because I live in Beacon and they're in Montgomery. That's far to go for tires. The bottom line - They could have tried to talk me into getting four tires but in their honesty told me that two of my present tires had another year left on them. Oh my gosh. This place is the bomb. We were on I-84 towing a 37-foot travel trailer. Two cars went by with the drivers yelling that we had a tire problem. We pulled over, figured big trouble was coming, but could not spot anything wrong with tires. Figured to find someplace along the way where we could get them inspected. Googled and found 'Rapid Tire Service' nearby. Called, the guy said bring it right in. We did. The boss had a guy look at one tire and found the huge problem in 1 minute. (We were close to having a major blowout on the highway.) These were cheap tires that came from who knows where in China. So I bought 4 new Goodyears on the spot. They had FOUR guys working the trailer at once, four portable jacks lifting the whole trailer off the lot, changed out all four tires like it was an Indy pit stop. My friend recommended this place to me because he claimed they were fast and inexpensive. He was half right. He purchased replacement tires from Tire Rack for his BMW and told me Rapid had charged $10.00 dollars per tire to mount them. Well... I took my tires for my BMW to Rapid and they charged me $30.00 dollar per tire to mount them! The manager? owner? claimed there was an additional fee for mounting tires on aluminum wheels?! I had Walmart mount and balance a tire for $10.00 on the same wheels. They also tried to sell me a more expensive non-matching replacement tire claiming that as long as it was the same brand the tread/model difference didn't matter. Uh yeah sure. I was disappointed but it was my mistake as I didn't ask for a quote in advance and they of course took advantage of me. Rapid Tire Service in Montgomery, NY provided fantastic customer service! We were within three hours of our final destination after a long day when we noticed one of the tires had a bulge in the sidewall due to hitting a huge pothole. It was after 4:30 and most places were closing at 5 so I was panicking trying to find a used tire so we could get home. I called Rapid Tire and was thrilled they had a tire to fit my car. They gave us great directions to their shop and waved us into the garage as we drove in the parking lot. The staff stayed late to get us back on the road. We appreciate their help very much!
