The NY Thruway is notorious for it's bumper to bumper traffic on Sunday afternoons and this accident was a result of it. Quality got over to me super quickly given that I was up by New Paltz. They took me and my car to their shop in Vails Gate, conveniently located only 15 minutes from my apartment. The tow truck driver explained the entire process very clearly to me. My car was totaled and obviously that's no fun to deal with but the driver, and the owner did a great job of offering great customer service and making me comfortable as I dealt with the process. The police found my father's car a few days later and told us we needed to pay the tow fees before we could get the car back. When I called Express Towing, I was emotionally, mentally, and physically drained. Dealing with my father's dementia and his current financial issues is distressing. I called expecting more problems getting his car back. I can not thank Al at Express Towing more. He slowed me down and explained what I needed to do to get my father's care out of impound. I explained what happened and that I did not have the means to pay the towing fees right now. He said to give him a few minutes and he would call me back. A few minutes later he called me to say everything was taken care of and I did not have to pay the towing fees. He had called the police and waived the fees. What an amazing blessing. (TL:DR) 2 months for a repair promised in 3 weeks and returned with parts still broken, missing or…read morebent out of shape even after submitting additions to the invoice to the insurance company. I used this repair facility after having an accident with my vehicle in the nearby town of New Windsor. The owner also runs a towing agency that removed my vehicle from the scene of the accident and seemed friendly and helpful so I decided to let him do the repair work since I didn't have any information on anyone else local. He advised that he could have the work done in about 3 weeks or less, but it would take that long because his employees were meticulous about detail. It took almost a week before the Insurance company even came out to his place and his estimate for when he would be done was always "sometime the end of next week". I had to have a family member eventually pick it up after 2 months because I was on a trip and when I finally saw his work I wished that I had just let the insurance company total it. One bracket on the air filter box was still broken, two out of three brackets on the fuse box are broken, the side rail is not square and where it had been repaired looks like it was roughly hammered into place. The paint work looks like it was done with a can of spray paint, is easily scratched and was damaged by the repair crew as they were reassembling. There are several wire brackets that weren't bolted back into place, the firewall behind the master cylinder is still dented leaving a gap and I am having to bleed my brakes because they keep locking up on me. Maybe if you can keep an eye on him in person or are one of his friends he will treat you right, but I am left with the feeling that I just got ripped off by a classic NY scam artist.
