He was able to get them all set up and designed for the actor and stunt double to use. We went with an early 90's shape deck and wider trucks and old school wheels. Everything is legit to the 1990-91 time period of the show. As for knowledge, Marko has been around long enough to know most any type of skate related question you could have for him. I would say please check out this hidden gem of a skate shop. Support local skate shops instead of online shopping. The best value comes from visiting your local skate shop and help build your local skate community.

Danny at the skate counter dialed me in with some great recommendations and a clean build. There were plenty of ready to roll complete decks there for a great value, but there's nothing quite like piecing something together off the wall, unwrapping the unblemished deck from the plastic, and building it on the spot with some grip tape fresh off the roll. Seeing less than a 5 star average for a shop that has been great to everyone in my circle since elementary school was an unacceptable sight for me, so I felt compelled to write this.

Bottom line is Skate America sold me a defective product and wouldn't take it back. Told me to call…read morethe manufacture. Ordered an almost deck from them. After I receiving it I noticed it was warped. I tried to send it back after I noticed it was defective and they told me based on the pictures I sent them the board looked used. Total bs the board was never used. The paint was scuffed on the edge because the board sat around my house not skated. Also this took 3 business days to come to this conclusion. I called the first day they requested pictures of the board. Never heard back from them. Called on the second day they reviewed the pictures and said the board was indeed warped/defective. Never heard back from them about the RMA. Called the third day and they said they needed more pictures of the bottom of the board. And that's when they rejected my claim. Donny at skate America told me he emailed me three times and I never received an email from him plus I left my number with him and he never called me back. Very poor customer service, very poor customer relations.

So we placed this order just to be told a week or so after that one of the pairs he ordered was out of stock. That's it, no info as to which ones, just that they are out of stock. So we played the waiting game to see which pair would arrive. Finally, we get them just to find out they aren't the right size. We ask about a refund or exchange (we'd be happy to get the same pair in the right size). The answer was "sure but you'll have to pay for shipping to return them". So let me get this straight... we spent $103.17 on this order which included $13 shipping costs, just to find out we have to spend another $25 on shipping them back ourselves. WOW talk about horrible customer service. Breaking it down we are now going to be paying $60+ for shoes that were $45 and we won't even have a pair or shoes to show for. Coming from many years of retail and customer service myself, to now owning my business, all I can say is good luck to you guys. You clearly are behind on the times with your customer care and order policies. I checked the site and not one single policy is listed stating the customer would be liable for shipping costs on the return. My advice - don't order online from here. You'll be thankful you didn't.

I then found an employee and asked about tuning my boards. He was very nice and professional and said to go ahead and bring em' to the shop counter. Which I did. On site skate sharpening while you wait is available as well. Best part is an area in the back to actually shoot real pucks on net from synthetic tiles. How's that for finding the perfect stick? Want to work on your shot ? You can shoot pucks with your own sticks by the 1/2 hour or hour. They have 4-5 nets set up in the back to shoot all day till your arms fall off - AWESOME!!!! These are hockey players, and coaches, you're interacting with who know and understand the game. They even have a figure skating section as well. People who have been around hockey and skating for 50 years. Money cannot buy the experience of great people to interact with when deciding which product to purchase. Local, family owned, friendly staff is why we all love Penguins.

Recently, I had the chance to go in just before Valentine's Day. They had lots of red and pink items featured, both for adults and for kids. Their displays were colorful and appealing, put together with flair and whimsy. I did find a couple of gift items for a friend's birthday, so that was a score. I love that they carry hats; one of my weaknesses! The cashier and her manager were both very friendly and offered to help me find anything that I hadn't already discovered on my own. I appreciated that going-the-extra-mile spirit. Prices seemed to be fair for the type of items that I checked out.
