I found Total Reclaim, Inc. when I called Portland's Metro Recycling at (503) 234-3000, and asked…read morewhere I could drop-off a bunch of block Styrofoam packing material that my curbside pick-up wouldn't take. I wanted to find someplace that wasn't going to just landfill the stuff. The number Yelp was originally showing was just a number which forwarded to Total Reclaim's Seattle facility but, Portland's Metro Recycling hot-line had the latest info. on Total Reclaim's Portland location. I dropped my Styrofoam at Total Reclaim's drop-off site at 5805 NE Columbia Blvd, two blocks west of NE 60th, and on the north side of Columbia Blvd. Their local phone number is 503-281-1899. Total Reclaim, Inc. accepts all sorts of stuff (computers, home and office electronics, TVs, stereo gear, even some appliances, you name it!) and it all gets 'reclaimed' so none of it ends up in any landfills. So, you can do-the-right-thing, and get rid of that garage full of electronics, appliances, plastics, styrofoam, and fluorescents, all with a short trip to NE Columbia Blvd.!

Styrofoam blocks are only entertaining for so long before "Let's make another tower!" turns into…read more"When are you dumping this?" Enter Total Reclaim: The easy eco-friendly alternative to ditching your unconventional recyclables at the dump. I stuffed my trunk and back seat full of Styrofoam blocks, and made a quick trip over to Total Reclaim. For a mere $5 I was finally rid of a ridiculous amount Styrofoam. $5 is a clear bargain compared to the $10 minimum charge at the dump. And, in my book, recycling trumps wastefulness any day.

The automatic response generated 2…read moreseconds after I submitted my review is the same response your company generates for every negative review. What a coincidence that you don't have a record of any of these transactions! Original Review: This company commits legal robbery and piracy. I should have known that a company like this is all about extraction; I should have checked this site for references. When the plumber (employee/franchisee?) got here, he told me the job of unclogging the toilet sewer line would cost $840, guaranteed for six months. I told him no way. He then offered to do it for $500, no guarantee. Stupid me said okay. It literally took him 20 minutes to get his equipment from the van and unclog my toilet! How much he gets and how much the company gets, I don't know. But, don't you miss the days when your plumber was the guy your kids or grandkids kids' went to school with? He lived in your neighborhood, and you saw him regularly at the Boy Scout fundraiser? He was part of your community, and he cared about the people he served. You were also someone who cared about your community and offered your services at a reasonable rate. I want that world back!!! This guy said he just drove all the way from a job in Salem, which is why he was willing to do it for a so-called discount. The story continues. Because the toilet had overflowed, he recommended I get an expert over here to make sure no water had penetrated the walls. The expert comes and tells me I have to tear out my walls and have them "contain the situation" for another $4k. I called my daughter, who works in remediation, and she said I could just make a small opening in the walls, spray some bleach water in there, put a fan on, and let it dry out. I could do all that for about $400! So sad! I should say, however, that the technician, Mag, was friendly and kind, and I don't blame him for how ridiculous this company is.

Within an hour I received a text saying 'We are running behind schedule for your service call, but you are next in line" etc. etc. It is now two hours past my two hour window and I have received five messages saying the same time. I called the number on their app to cancel and the person who answered the call said. They are really backed up, I can't see them getting to you for 2-6 hours. If you do get on the list with Roto-Rooter spend some time calling other vendors. One who promises tomorrow morning, might just arrive before the Roto-Rooter two hour window.
