I had someone else try to quote me $14,000 for a chimney repair. This guy was honest and fair on price and did everything to code.

Also, to either repair or replace the back wall of the fireplace as the imitation masonry wall had split. They told us it could be converted and ordered a replacement back wall of sheet metal. They made the conversion. When preparing for the next winter, we checked our propane tank and it was completely empty. We had had it filled in the spring and had not used it at all. We contacted the propane company to check our gas lines and they found that the gas line that terminated behind the fireplace for the gas logs had been cut (actually bent until it broke) when the fireplace was being converted. It had not been capped! A gas line connection had also been bent which caused another leak. Had the leaking gas caught on fire due to us making a fire in the fireplace it could have burnt our house down! Not to mention the hundreds of dollars in lost propane, the metal piece has no feet or anything else to keep it from falling over. We have to shove the firewood grate up against it to keep it from falling over. To beat all that, when I tried to send a certified letter, return receipt to the registered agent for their company, it was returned as the company had moved. I wouldn't trust this company to do ANY work of ANY kind - ever!

Our first encounter was with Elias, who thoroughly inspected and offered his expertise on design and what to expect. He was honest and didn't rush us or give us unreliable expectations. Initially, we just wanted a wood stove inserted into the "hole" where the old fireplace was. He kindly explained that this wasn't possible without dropping out the prefab FP, along with cutting out stone for proper clearance. Fast forward, Elias found that we had an old chimney to the left side of the unit that spanned from basement to third floor and out the roof. Long story short: in order to make this happen, we had to demolish the entire unit. We chose our stove and the flooring. Next appointment was demolition! Walks in Ben! This guy was the real deal! He was professional and courteous, but what we admired most was that he was honest! This wasn't the usual slam dunk job. Our house was built in 1980. Once demolished, we found all kinds of issues that needed addressing. The builder cut up the hardwood floor to meet the old FP, so there were odd gaps, the old side chimney was in the way! At first, Ben built out too far. We weren't happy. No worries! He came back, removed the frame and backing and built tightly around the chimney column. Throughout the entire process, they made certain all work was done to code! The initial quote never changed, even though wrenches were thrown in. What seemed like a nightmare, this company turned into a dream! They exceed our expectations and then some. I would highly recommend this company, as well as their employees and subs. Absolutely stellar job! Thank you Chim-Chimney for making our dream come to life.

Before he left he said I had to pay 99.00 him for the quote before he left. He said they would deduct it from the bill if I gave them the job. If I had know that ahead of time I would have moved on. I called 2 other companies and they didn't charge a fee. They both gave me a quote for the same work for nearly half the cost. Needless to say, I hired Alligiance Chimney & they did a fantastic job. Never again will I call Chim Chimney. I felt tricked & taken advantage of.

As long as we kept the setting low we had no issue, but noticed the pilot was yellow/orange at the tip and resembled a candle flame instead of a blue flame. Called this morning around 10:15 am and left a voice message describing our issue and what area I lived in. A couple hours later Jason returned my call and luckily he was on my street about to leave his service call. He asked when would be a good time and then magically said that he could come right then since he had about an hour before next appointment- this was FANTASTIC timing. He came by within a few minutes. Took him maybe 20 minutes to clean the lines and was off to his next appointment. I am so thankful he was near by. I have his business card for any issues in the future and will be using him again. I'm also grateful he showed me a few things to look for and possibly do myself if we see the yellow tip coming back later down the road. Great experience.

I also want to add they hauled away my old log set so I didn't have to worry about it and fully explained how to operate the remote.

Initially the owner (Jon Law) of the company wanted me to pay $150 to have the chimney cleaned, when I had simply requested a quote, knowing the work would likely involve the chimney liner be replaced, so having it cleaned would be silly. I reiterated that I needed a quote on work, not a cleaning, and he continued to pressure for a cleaning. Eventually, after telling me he would only give quotes to certain Realtors, he agreed to give me a quote for $95, which would be applied to later work. Finally! The tech who came to do the inspection was polite and courteous, and when I offered to pay him, he said the owner would send me an invoice. The owner then sent three text messages within an hour in efforts to get his payment. I'm a Realtor, I cannot always respond immediately and repeat texts are a very rude practice. I paid him the same day, but despite his demand for instant text response, he was unwilling to answer calls or texts for 5 days afterwards to let me know how long the quote might take or how the inspection had gone. When I could not get a response from Dr.Clean Sweep, I got a second quote from a company in Nashville (Ashbusters- which was free, prompt, and everyone was very polite), only to find out that the work Dr. CleanSweeps had proposed to do was not going to be up to code at all. Ashbusters in Nashville refused to do the same work he offered, even for more money, due to safety issues. I called Dr. CleanSweep back on 5/13/14 and 5/14/14 to discuss these issues, as well as texted asking for a response, and received no response at all until 5/19/14. After continual lack of responsiveness and rudeness from the owner, I opted to give up the $100 I had already paid Dr. CleanSweeps in favor of Ashbusters. The job in question was over $4000 worth of work, and had Dr. Cleansweeps been courteous and responsive, I would have given him the job without question. I am always very loyal to my contractors, when they are good. This job could have resulted in this company earning all of my business. Instead, I will recommend Ashbusters in Nashville.
