Today, approximately 3:30 pm I went into the rapid cash location at prater and McCarran in sparks nevada. I was hoping to cash a money gram. The young lady at first was nice and helpful, she said she needed to verify the money gram and handed me a pamphlet to fill out. She did not explain that in order for me to cash this money gram I needed to be in the system and therefore needed to fill out this application for services. Seeing as I have never even tried to cash a money gram let alone step foot in one of your establishments prior to today, I didn't understand why I needed to give over my social or any further information than that on my up to date active driver's license. When she came back, I held up the pamphlet and asked what I was applying for. I had feared that there had been a misunderstanding, a simple miscommunication. I asked, Isn't there some way to just cash it? And that is when her attitude changed. She became instantly curt and rude. As though I were asking some unreasonable question. I didn't understand that either, but, I tried to just listen to her words and ignore the attitude change. Everyone has bad days and she works in a place where she has to tell angry customers no all the time. I don't blame her for snapping into that mode, it's what her experiences have trained her to do. I get it. But it was completely unnecessary in my case. If she had only taken the time, BEFORE she walked away, and explained to me that I needed to be in the system to proceed, the entire incident could have been avoided. However, that's not happened. She then made the choice to vocalize her mistaken opinion by saying " I understand you're frustrated, but you don't need to take it out on me".... I was aghast. I literally couldn't believe she was saying this to me. I turned to my husband standing beside me literally with my mouth hanging open. I am sure I asked him "can you believe this?" He shook his head. We both were trying to just let things pass and finish this extremely uncomfortable experience, and I commented to my husband, that I was never going to allow customers to pay for my services with money gram's ever again after this hassle, and that regardless I would not be come back here again. Not after this treatment. It was absolutely uncalled for. She then chose to refuse me service, based on how I was treating HER! That was it. That was the amount of insult I could take. I blew up and told her to go fuck herself. I was livid. I could not believe what had happened. I have never been treated in such a manor. It was absurd. She had no reason to change her attitude towards me. I asked what I was applying for and she immediately changed... I suppose she must have had customers in the past ask that question and had them become aggressive. But, that wasn't the case here. Her reaction was unwarranted. Then, having the gall to actually tell me that I in some way was treating HER badly.
I stormed out of the building. Enraged.
On my way out I got the number off the door and called it. I wanted to speak to the manager. Guess who the manager on duty was... you guessed it. Miss sparkling personality herself, turns out her name is Angie. So, Angie proceeds to tell me that since the calls are all recorded, that the general manager will be able to hear it, I got a little excited. Good I thought. Let them hear why this all went wrong. I started to tell her that if she had just explained to me that I needed to be in the system in order to cash the money gram, none of what was to come would have happened. She attempted to talk over me and that just incensed me further and I completely lost my temper. It was nothing but a screaming match at that point. She eventually hung up.
I admit, how I conducted myself after she accused me of somehow being rude to her was not my most shiny moment, but... that shouldn't take away from the fact that she had no business saying it in the first place. Especially over a simple miscommunication that could have been EASILY avoided had she just explained before she walked away to verify the validity of the money gram. I am not in the habit of handing over any vital information unless it's needed. Turns out, it's not needed. There is no branch of my otherwise amazing bank anywhere near hear, but they were able to help me locate a place to simply cash it. For free. No small service fee. No need to hand over the totality of my vital information. No need to apply for anything.... and best of all, no need to deal with people whom assume that asking a question is a sign of aggression. read more
