The service was amazing and they were super accommodating for our large group (13 people). They had a variety of food to accommodate different dietary restrictions (gluten free, vegan, vegetarian). We had a giant spread of food, I was a huge fan of their samosas (packed with filling) and their chicken biryani. The decor was nice and it was cozy, I think it's worth stopping by for a bite to eat if you're in the area, everyone really enjoyed it It was a team dinner so couldn't take as many photos

Used to visit here often about 10 years ago. Went back with a buddy for lunch after a long hike. They are pretty efficient greeting us. This place hasn't changed much. Still nicely kept with a cozy and clean vibe. We shared their tea salad. I got their own noodle dish. Tea salad is solid. Their noodle dish is well seasoned and texture was really nice. It is still the good place that I remembered. Would like to revisit when I crave for some nice Burmese food

A branch of the other Burmese restaurant chain that has VERY large portions and good flavors! Recommend the tea lead salad and the Burmese pad thai, but we also tried the minted jalapeno chicken that was a good blend of flavors I never thought matched! We had mild spice for all of them and it wasn't too spicy at all, so if you can handle spice, try medium! The staff are very friendly and attentive, serving cucumber water and the interior is well-decorated and gives an air of sophistication while still being a more casual restaurant.

I ordered online for take out. Paid over 20 bucks for a full salad but received a side salad portion instead. This is my second time ordering and never again. Portions are always small for the price. No wonder I never see the restaurant full during lunch.

    Neat, clean and cozy ambiance.

Went for a Monday night dinner while visiting the city. Was not disappointed at all. The place was not busy for dinner (great for us !). The tables were all well arranged and the entire restaurant was very well kept with clean, cozy and somewhat colonial dining setup. The food was very flavorful and well balanced (not too oily or unnecessarily smothered with chili just to make it spicy). We ordered the tea salad (very unique, our first time experience), beef curry (Thai basil) - very tasty!, garlic noodles, samosa and semolina cake with mango ice cream (delicious!). Server can be a little more prescriptive though

Took out the Tea Leaf Salad and Monk Hingar (catfish chowder noodle soup). Soup was tasty but noodle provided was such a tiny portion that I cooked ramen to add to it. Tea leaf salad was good with a little tiny spicy kick to it.

Rangoon Ruby in San Carlos is one of those spots where you walk in and immediately know you're in for something different with a warm, stylish decor with a hint of elegance, and the aroma of garlic, spices, and coconut milk floating through the air. It's upscale but not uptight, perfect for date nights, group dinners, or anyone craving authentic Burmese food done right. Must-Try Dishes: * Tea Leaf Salad (Lahpet Thoke) This is the signature dish and it does not disappoint. Fermented tea leaves, crunchy nuts, seeds, tomatoes, garlic, and lime all come together in a tangy, umami-packed bite. Complex and addicting. * Samusa Soup A flavorful lentil-based soup with pieces of samusa (Burmese samosas) swimming inside. Spiced but not too spicy , cozy and comforting. * Pumpkin Pork Stew Tender pork belly in a mild pumpkin curry , rich, slightly sweet, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Definitely a sleeper hit on the menu. * Burmese Style Garlic Noodles Stir-fried noodles with crispy garlic, scallions, and your choice of protein. Simple, but seriously flavorful. A good "gateway dish" if you're new to Burmese cuisine. * Coconut Rice Order it as a side with anything , fluffy, fragrant, and the perfect match for the saucier curries. * Shan Noodles One of the most beloved street foods of Myanmar rice noodles with chicken or pork in a slightly tangy tomato-based sauce. Light but deeply satisfying. Drinks & Atmosphere: They've got a full bar with solid craft cocktails and Burmese beer. The vibe is classy but welcoming ,think white tablecloths with a laid-back neighborhood feel. Service is attentive, helpful, and happy to guide you if you're new to Burmese food. Price Point: It's on the higher side for casual dining , you're looking at ~$18-$28 for entrées. But the portions are fair, the quality is high, and the experience feels special. It's not cheap takeout, but it's worth it. Final Verdict: Rangoon Ruby delivers , bold flavors, beautiful presentation, and dishes that strike a perfect balance between comforting and adventurous. If you've never tried Burmese cuisine, this place makes a fantastic first impression. Just be ready to spend a little , and leave very full.

1 year later and 3rd time -- still meh. Tea salad was okay and pad Thai under spiced and overpriced. Place was fairly empty and service was poor. No need to revisit for the 4th time.

So what made the experience for me is the waiter. He was super friendly and very great at giving us advice on which dish is great to choose. Although i know what is good i usually ask to see if the staff is knowledgable of the menu. We ordered the food and of course it was delicious! We sat outside on a nice warm day and it was a great to sit there and chat. Great place for a date and to catch up with friends.

Not good at all. Ordered Hot and didn't taste one spice. Paid for delivery too and left a tip. Don't do it. Sure this we be hidden.

Horrible service, mediocre food. Our waiter/host left us to sit for 10 minutes without menus. The food is overpriced for the quality.

We ordered a variety of dishes - Shaka Chicken, Saimin, Chicken Katsu Bowl, Mahi Mahi Tacos, and Mixed Plate. All were delicious! The icing on top was when we told the sweet hostess that it was my mom's birthday, and she said to definitely tell our server! After our yummy lunch, we were given a complimentary order of malasadas (yum!) and then Mom got a special ice cream cup with a huge sparkler candle and the entire restaurant sang to her! But wait, there's more! Noelani's was celebrating their 13th anniversary today, so we got free live musical entertainment (normally it's only on Friday and Saturday nights) by the talented Rick Rasay. Who then proceeded to serenade Mom by changing the words to one of the songs he sang! She felt so special! AND finally, as part of their 13th anniversary, Noelani's was giving out coupons to their paying customers for free shave ice from Paradise Shave Ice who put a pop-up outside their restaurant. So yummy! And they were so super nice too - will definitely keep them in mind for any shave ice catering needs! We don't visit this restaurant as we're down in the South Bay, but we definitely plan to visit them more often! Thanks for making my mom's day so wonderful! This was an especially bittersweet birthday, as it was the first one without my dad, but somehow I think he was smiling down at us and blessing us today!

The server got us sat right away and was friendly. We decide to share a bunch of plates including the pan seared baos, different stuffed rice balls, stuffed scallion pancakes, fried wontons, cucumber salad, purple yam chips, chicken & corn dumplings and Mongolian beef potstickers The pan seared baos and the stuffed scallion pancakes were our absolute favorites. The baos were crispy, rich and juicy. The stuffed scallion pancakes were like tacos with the flakiest and most satisfyingly chewy taco shell. The meat inside was well seasoned and tender. These two dishes in particular are going to be must orders anytime I return. The cheesy kimchi rice balls and purple yam chips were both hits at the table as well. The chips they have made and come out in no time so you can start snacking right away. The rice balls were nice and crispy on the outside than soft and gooey on the inside. They had that bright kimchi flavor. The cucumber salad was good too, the main flavor of them was cilantro so if you don't like cilantro then you should skip it. The fried wontons were standard but satisfying. They did their job. Finally the chicken and corn dumplings and the Mongolian beef dumplings were the weakest of what we ordered. They got mixed reviews from the table. Consensus was that both were pretty bland overall and didn't compare to the other dishes we enjoyed so much. As far as the food there was a lot to love and a couple dishes we'd switch out for something else next time. But we also don't go in expecting to love every dish and are happy to have gotten so many dishes that we do love. Glad that that wasn't the case! Ordered xiao long bao, fried tofu, sheng jian bao, Beijing potstickers, pea shoots, and green curry with rice. - Xiao long bao: quite tasty and probably my favorite in this area. The soup inside was really sweet and savory and there was a lot of it. Meat was tender and the flavor was spot on. The skin was nice and thin, but with enough elasticity that it didn't tear when the dumplings were still hot out of the steamer and being picked up with chopsticks. I wish they would steam on napa cabbage instead of the foil cups though. Towards the end, the dough was trying to stick and that's no bueno. Also, wouldn't cabbage be cheaper? - Fried tofu: favorite dish of the night, surprisingly. Super crispy coating, and the soy sauce they serve it with has enough salt and flavor to really make it shine! Will order this again and again. - Sheng jian bao: I have serious doubts that these are made in-house (though they might be?). They looked like the frozen ones that every restaurant with sheng jian bao on the menu seems to be serving nowadays. Not that they're bad. In fact, they're pretty good, with a good amount of soup inside, but the dough was a little tough. - Beijing potstickers: like regular potstickers, only less good. Didn't like the dough on these, but they were super juicy! Wish I'd known that before I bit into mine and all the juice came shooting out of the opposite end. Don't be like me, eat this with the butt end in your spoon to catch all the liquid. - Pea shoots: I spit out half of these onto my plate because they were so tough that I couldn't chew the woody stems. I haaaaaaate when restaurants do this - the people preparing the food know what a tender pea shoot feels like. If they're not good, don't serve them to customers. It was like $17 for a plate of greens that were almost inedible, and super unenjoyable to eat. Aside from the poor quality of the veggies themselves, the way they prepared them was perfect, and the flavor was so good. Made me sad that I could barely eat them. - Green curry: ok, but not great. There wasn't enough flavor and there was too much heat. I expect Thai curry to be spicy, but not marking this on the menu for someone who is just trying this for the first time feels like a mistake. Also, not letting someone choose their level of spice also feels like a mistake. Speaking to the menu, there are things about it that make it hard to order. Basically, everything is in English, which is fine, but there are dishes that are translated or simplified that make it hard to know what's what. "Pork buns" are sheng jian bao. I wouldn't have known that if I hadn't asked, and to me and most people I know, a pork bun is just another simplified name for a char siu bao. The only reason why I knew they had sheng jiang bao on the menu was because of the photos on Yelp. Maybe just calling it sheng jiang bao or "pan fried dumplings" would be more helpful. Photos or a brief description (or Chinese characters, for those who can read them) would have been even more helpful. Other notes: the waitstaff is friendly enough, and the kitchen is efficient. Wish they had ice water here. Water is served in carafes that appear to get reused without first being washed, with a sprig of some kind of green thing inside. It goes from the kitchen tap into their fridge to cool a bit before being served, but there is no ice. A water filter on that tap would go a long way to make the water taste more palatable. Not sure what the green thing was, but it didn't impart any appreciable flavor. Will ask for ice next time and hope that it's available because at least if the water were actually cold, it would mask the tap flavor. We'll be back to try other things on the menu, and to order the XLB and fried tofu again, but with tempered expectations.

We had no real complaints about the dishes. They all tasted excellent, and plated well. The meat was tender, and my favorite was probably what looked to me like a seafood paella. There are good choices for HH food too. But we decided to order off the main menu instead to share with our group. Can't go wrong with ordering any dishes. It is one of the better Latin food I've had. Very fun place to celebrate birthdays or just come for HH too.

We decided to dine in this time, and they weren't busy at all on a Friday (early) evening. We were seated at a comfortable booth across from the colorful wall mural. I've tried a good portion of the menu at this point and enjoy the Sesame Chicken, Palata with Chicken, and Mango Shrimp. My partner is obsessed with the Burmese Chow Mein and Black Pepper Chicken. This time, I ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice with shrimp, which was pretty basic but expectedly tasty and filling. Service was quick and friendly! Burma Spice will continue to be one of our go-to's.

Burma Spice hosted our daughter's high school graduation luncheon on May 23rd and we couldn't have been happier! We had about 30 guests in a separate area in the back of the restaurant. Kham and Raymond were so nice and helpful in planning the menu for our gathering. Everything was served family style. We ordered - Tea Leaf Salad- the perfect ratio of fermented tea leaves and ingrediants. - Samosas- light, crispy, and so flavorful - Nan Gyi Thoke- the noodles were perfectly cooked, not mushy, and the curry was creamy and delightful. - Basil Lemongrass Chicken- fresh basil, and lemongrass really made this dish a popular topic. - Pumpkin Veggie- Nice ratio of pumpkin and other veggies, very hearty. - Kebat Lamb- savory, packed full of rich spices, the onions add so much texture and flavor as well. - Jasmine Rice Plus plenty of yummy tropical cocktails for the adults. They set up a little table for the cake, and some graduation items that we brought. They really went out of their way to make our celebration comfortable. Everything was in generous portions, fresh and expertly prepared. My guests raved about the food and service. Some of my guests had never tried Burmese food before and now in their meal rotation. We didn't realize that we had stretched into their rest period between lunch and dinner because they were so gracious about not rushing us. I highly recommend Burma Spice in Redwood City for any meal or occasion. The restaurant is such a gem in our neighborhood and the service is friendly.
