I wanted to love Rands, had a couple of friends refer them to me. I ended up purchasing a car through them around 2021, and untrue to what they advertise, I did feel like there were a lot of hidden fees, and that pricewise, they were somewhat comparable to dealers. I did end up buying a car. I don't like to jump to this conclusion, but did feel like as a woman, I was being given the run around. Then fast forward a few years, my entire back light came dislodged on its own. When I took it to the body shop, upon inspection, he looked at the light and said it had been painted over, and that most likely the car was in a small fender bender and it had been repaired. This was not ever disclosed to me, nor was it on the Carfax. This "minor" issue ended up costing me $1,000 to fix. If you're specializing in selling used cars, I expect that they're doing their due diligence to find quality cars. I'm in the market for a new used car. I have a budget in mind that I need to stick to, and I'm pre-approved with the bank, so I don't have to worry about getting financed. Not knowing where to start, a mechanic I know, suggested I check out Rand's Auto, which I did. Rand's Auto Sales is a family managed car business in the Bountiful Utah area. All cars have clean titles, and they come with a Carfax report. Caleb was the salesman assigned to me for the day. He is a really nice bloke, and has the patience of a saint, at least he did with me today. I told him what I was looking for, and he directed me to a few cars that he thought I might be interested in. In order to take the cars out for a "test drive" they need to make a copy of your drivers licence. As Caleb was about to do that, one of the owners said he "I'll just take a picture of your drivers license with my phone." I didn't like that, having a picture of my drivers licence with all my info on his phone. He said he would deleted it later, I hope that he did. Anyway back to the test drives. Caleb didn't ride with me, which I thought was strange, because any other car lot has someone ride with you, I'm guessing in case you steal a car, not sure why. I probably tested about six different cars. Each time I took out a car, I drove it around the town testing it at stop lights, stop signs, hills, corners etc they all seem to drive really well. I narrowed it down to two cars. I had to leave, but would get back with Caleb regarding my decision as to which car I decided on. The two cars I was interested in were from New York, they are lease returns. After giving it some thought I chose which one I was interested in, and talked to Caleb about the car. Over the phone I asked what the "out the door" price would be. That means everything including tax and licensing. He gave me a price that was just outside of the price that I told them I was looking for. They wouldn't budge on price, which is the sticker price. So for that reason I had to decline. read more

We purchased a used car from Rand's Auto Sales on March 28, 2025. We live in Boise and my husband drove down to test drive the car after reassurances (verbally, and in writing) that the car had passed a thorough inspection and was in good condition, with no major issues. They offered to share that inspection but took days to send it to us. After driving the car back to Idaho, we realized there was something wrong with the steering and took it in for another inspection. The outcome of that inspection is revealed that that the car needs $10,000 in immediate repairs. When we reached out to the dealership on the next business day and asked if there was anything on their inspection that they didn't share with us, they responded with 'no, not at all'. This complaint is to highlight a couple of things. First, Rand's Auto Sales were dishonest and hiding severe issues with the car. The engine light was disabled, which is why so many issues could be occurring without a notification of any kind, and lastly, when we requested they purchase the car back from us as resolution, Rand's Auto Sales offered us $1,000. The 'inspection' they claimed to have completed was only an oil change. We believe that Rand's Auto Sales misrepresented and fraudulently sold us this car. Regardless of signing an "As-Is" sales agreement, selling a car that needs $10,000 of work and misrepresenting the condition of that car is extremely poor business. Please reconsider before shopping at Rand's. Andy was condescending and disrespectful in all of our interactions. Customer service should be taken seriously and we were treated very poorly and immaturely by Rand's Auto Sales. read more

Corbin was very respondent and answered my question. It was nice to work with a dealer that does not add after-market items that hick up the price from the advertised price. They do have a spendy DOC fee compared to what dealers charge in my area. With Corbin I was able to arrange a money wire, I took care of the car being picked up by a transport (highly recommend airryd.com for that), Corbin let me know when the car was picked and where I would find the paperwork inside the car. My siblings and two of our children have also bought cars from Rand's. Our youngest daughter went to Rand's recently to purchase a vehicle and was treated so terrible by the salesman. It was very surprising. He treated my daughter and I like we were annoying him and we were bothering him. If you are planning on purchasing a car from Rand's, don't use Corbin as your salesman. Use Cayden. He is the one to ask for. Corbin should be fired. He is probably Rand's grandson and that is why he still has a job. I didn't hear anything from Corbin about the way he behaved. Weston helped me find a car that was a good fit for me. I thought I wanted a Prius, and he really seemed like an expert! He was very knowledgeable, answered any and every question I could think of. He helped me to narrow down to a couple models and even helped me figure out how to position my harp inside the car so that it would fit (yes, a harp fits inside a Prius!). I thought he was fantastic. I felt like the price was fair, and I was treated with respect. Great customer service. They let me put down $100 to hold a car for 24 hours until I could have a mechanic double check it for me, and it was in just as good of condition as they said it was. They were very honest -- I had completely forgotten about my $100 holding deposit, and Weston got in touch with me later to let me know he had subtracted it from the amount I financed. I went in not really knowing what car I wanted but to just kind of look around. Told them I was a student, recently married, didn't have a lot of money, so they showed me some great car selections. They didn't try and " sale" anything to me at any point. I felt completely at home and not pressured into anything. When I had my selection narrowed down to a few cars, ( I told them I would be back in a day or two after I had thought about it) he called me the next day and told me that they just got a car traded in with lower miles then the one I was looking at and for less money. I went and looked and it was great! For them to take the time to listen, take my considerations into mind, and even call me to tell me about this other car that came in, I was extremely satisfied. Do NOT Buy from Rand's Auto; They DON'T Care About You I was in the market for a minivan. I found the make and model I wanted on Rand's inventory list. I and my wife visited the dealership but it was nearly closed and the van was out to get a new tire. We told them we wanted to look at the van. They said it would be back the next day at around noon. I called at noon. No van. I told them to call me back. I called at 1:00 PM, no van. My wife stopped by on her way at 2:30 PM. There was the van on the lot. It had been there for hours. She stopped and said she was in a hurray but that I would be showing up with the intent to buy it. They said, "Great." I was called away on an emergency that evening so I called Rands and asked if they would hold it just until they opened the next day and I would be there to buy it. They said, "yes." The next morning when they opened, I and my wife showed up at the lot. We test drove the van. We loved it. But when we came back to buy it, they told us that it had been sold. They would do NOTHING for us but say, "sorry, we can't do anything." Repeatedly. I would have understood IF they had called me back to come look at the van after I repeatedly called them, IF they had told me that I could put down a deposit to hold it, IF they had held the van over night like they said the would, IF they had notified me that the van had been sold so wouldn't have to take time off work to come to their dealership, IF they had granted some kind of concession after making this litany of mistakes other than repeatedly saying, "sorry, there's nothing we can do." As for me, I will NEVER buy a car from them. I would encourage you to do the same. Go somewhere where the salesmen actually care about you like Mark Miller in SLC--where we wound up purchasing the same van anyways. read more
