Dr. Ngai is very knowledgeable and accomplished with exceptional credentials. I was very impressed with his explanations about cataracts, lens types, and the surgery process. I had my surgery in June and July and could not be happier with the results. The surgery was quick and painless and I now have great vision. Also, Dr. Ngai's medical and clerical staff are very nice, organized, and professional. I highly recommend Dr. Ngai if you are seeking a skilled and personable ophthalmologist. Cataracts are just one of his many fields of expertise.

She told me I needed to see an ophthalmologist, preferably one that specialized in glaucoma because they would have all of the latest machines at their disposal. I researched for a week and found Dr. Song at the USC Keck Roski Eye Center in Arcadia. I am super happy. He is now monitoring my disease. I did not experience the long waits that were mentioned in some of the other reviews. The place seems super well organized... I will be coming here every six months for the rest of my life....

After receiving a wristband--which was the only part of the process that happened efficiently--we waited approximately 45 minutes for the first test, then another 37 minutes for the next one, followed by additional waiting for more testing and to see the doctor. It appears the office is severely overbooked. We were there for more than three hours for a scheduled appointment. I understand medical appointments can run behind, but this level of waiting and disorganization is unacceptable, especially for elderly patients. Better scheduling, communication, and consideration for patient's time are desperately needed. If you have an appointment here, bring a book, laptop, or something else to keep yourself occupied. There are no movies or shows being provided to help make the extremely long wait more bearable.

Given that my grandfather had a severe astigmatism on both eyes, it would have cost us an arm and a leg for those special lenses. As someone who is a full-time student, working, and looking after my grandparents I really appreciated how simple things were. Even when I tried to thank Dr. Lai, he explained that he was just happy to see my grandfather doing much better. Her husband had surgery with Dr. Lu and was very satisfied. Coincidentally, both his office and the surgery center are in Arcadia, where I live. I had cataract surgery on my left eye on 2/16 and on my right eye yesterday, using an EDOF multifocal intraocular lens (paid out-of-pocket). Dr. Lu truly lived up to his reputation; he was very professional, explained things meticulously, and patiently answered all my questions. Both surgeries went very smoothly and successfully. Furthermore, Dr. Lu personally calls patients on the same day after each surgery to check on their progress. Although there are follow-up appointments the next day, his dedication and willingness to go the extra mile touched and reassured me. Dr. Lu is truly an outstanding doctor, highly trustworthy and recommended. I also want to especially mention Dr. Angela, the anesthesiologist at Specialty Medical Center, who was excellent. Her dosage and timing were very precise; I was unconscious and woke up to find the surgery already successfully completed. Praise the Lord, my vision is bright again; my eyesight has recovered very well on the first day after surgery.

While I was here in this establishment today with my dad, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is decent. It isn't too big nor too small. Parking spots are okay as well. Establishment: I had to bring my dad here today for his follow up appointment. He has been coming to see Dr. Chao for some time, and he really likes this place. My dad said that the doctor was really patient and thorough with explaining all that goes on during a cataract surgery. He said that the doctor also took some time going over other options if he refused to undergo the cataract surgery. Due to the doctor's experience and expertise, my dad decided to go through with the surgery at Concourse Diagnostic and Surgery Center. My dad's surgery went smoothly, and his follow up appointment also went well. Overall, this was an excellent outcome. Excellent location as they are near the gold line and have plenty of parking in the back. The security guard at the front was nice and helpful letting us know what time the office is opened and that we could wait in the lobby until they opened. The staff is very nice and helpful to their patients. Very easy to talk to them. The plus was they were able to speak Chinese (Mandarin)to my dad. The technician was efficient and checked his vision, eye pressure (with a tono pen), checking pupils, extra ocular motility (EOM) and getting a complete chief complaint and asked if reading was an issue (which is was not). The one thing I would have checked is confrontational fields, but other than that she did an excellent job. She then proceeded to dilate his pupils and explained to him about the process and the expect his near vision to be blurry due to dilation and to wear sun glasses when outside (due to increased incoming light from pupils being dilated). She performed imaging to check the macula and retina and optic nerve. We then saw Dr. Chao who is a fantastic physician performed a thorough exam and explained to my father about cataract surgery in Chinese, explained what she saw and how bad his cataracts were and asked him specific questions about his vision and discussed the different lens options available and which my father would like to receive. (Standard lens usually set for distance and would require glasses for reading or one can opt for a multifocal lens where you don't need to wear glasses but this type of lens is not covered by insurance and would be out of pocket). Dr. Chao is an ophthalmologist who specializes in Glaucoma (treats patients with high eye pressure which can lead to blindness if left untreated) and is also a cataract surgeon and comprehensive ophthalmologist (sees patients for any eye issues and can refer out to specialists as needed). Then we scheduled a surgery date and will need to see his primary care physician (PCP) for clearance will need to return for a follow up appointment to get his biometry measurements for the lens prior to surgery. My dad was happy with his first visit and looks forward to his follow up visit.

I looked up that sometimes they can do a courtesy extension of the prescription if your vision has been stable and have no issues. I asked for such an extension but was told multiple times I would have to get another contact lens exam for $160 (out of pocket) in addition to the cost of the lenses. I think that as a long time patient they should be able to accommodate such an easy request, since I would be getting my annual exam soon again anyway. It's not easy to schedule an unnecessary exam especially with a busy schedule, just to get a box of contacts. Bottom line loyalty doesn't seem to count here and maybe it's time to switch optometrists.
