I'm out in Iowa from Denver about twice a quarter, and I always make sure Rancho Grande is a stop when we're in Atlantic! This place is so good! The chips and salsa are fire, and the beans with cheese are better than most restaurants I go to at home. I go for the carne asada tacos on corn tortillas. If you like heat like I do, ask for the hot sauce! I tend to stick with tacos, but I've done the enchilada and tamale combo before too, also great. You really can't go wrong with anything here. Everyone who works here is just super nice. They also carry Coke products, and the Diet Coke is perfectly crispy! Service is super quick. No waiting, food comes out fast. Perfect for a quick work lunch. I love this place and start looking forward to it the second I get on the plane. See you next time! read more

We were looking for a place to eat as we drove to Des Moines and stopped at Rancho Grande. Good decision! We both had fajitas Texasans, which is a mix of beef, chicken, chorizo and shrimp that were awesome! Refried beans were authentic and great and services was excellent! Whenever i go to Rancho Grande, I'm always greeted and treated very well. They sometimes have a hard time understanding due to the language barrier, but the place is amazing. I've never once had a problem with the food, service, atmosphere, or the cleanliness of the establishment. read more

my wife and i are new to Atlantic.i wasn't really sure what i could expect as far as restaurants in such a small community. i had seen Rancho Grande on a list of restaurants for the area and i thought we could give it a try. the restaurant was a good size with plenty of seating. the chips and salsa were really good. i was very happy to see an extensive vegetarian menu. i didn't expect that from a restaurant in such a small community. i got the special, which was a vegetable enchilada with a wide variety of vegetables to choose from. it was very good. the special cheese sauce had a really interesting, almost sweet flavor. my wife had fajitas (carnitas) and said they were excellent. the prices on the food overall was very reasonable. less than we would have spent if we were in des moines or omaha. we also had drinks, a corona (me) and a jumbo margarita (wife). the prices on the drinks were very appropriate. my wife said she thought the margarita was most likely a mix, but said that it was still tasty. overall, we had a very nice experience at Ranch Grande and will definitely be back for more. read more

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I felt very comfortable asking any questions I had about the menu. My boyfriend and I had enchiladas and tacos. If you want authentic Mexican food this isn't the place for you. But what they serve is high quality pseudo Mexican dishes. The restaurant is clean and the servers are quick. You get great sized portions and it is great quality. I claim it is pseudo Mexican food because of the lack of seasoning. Now most people on this area love the more bland flavorings here so I can't knock them for doing something that works. I however have traveled down south and love authentic Mexican dishes. So if you want good food that won't burn you twice this is the place to go but if you like authentic spicy food you may be left wanting. read more

I frequent this restaurant. I recommend the carnitas or any dish including a burrito, but they have a menu that reads like a book. Their cheese dip is delicious, so definitely get that to go along with your free chips! Margaritas are mixed well; I appreciated this because I haven't found another great margarita in this area! I have always had excellent service (darn, I had to leave a great tip every time!). The small town of Atlantic sure does not have a whole lot of choices for eatery on a Friday night, but Rancho Grande was a lucky find. The chips and salsa were delicious and for 3 entrees and 3 jumbo margaritas, $55 seemed very reasonable. With it being Lent, and I a Catholic, I was pleasantly surprised with the many seafood and vegetarian options. This place offers close to authentic mexican. It's a small cozy place where they offer typical Mexican dishes. They have great combo dinners where you can get three items for a good price. The service is great, but I was a little bit disappointed with their Horchata drinks. For those not familiar with that, its basically a rice milk drink. Imagine rice pudding without the rice, it tastes just like that, at least at this place. I've been to places with it has a more sweet tastes, more cinnamon or more milk, just depends on how each place makes it, it's personal preference. The dish came out extremely hot, literally. I was told not to touch the plates because they are really hot, almost makes me wonder if they stuck the dish in the microwave.... Overall, this place was not bad. As I am used to mexican cuisine back home, I was not overly impressed with their food. For you newbie Mexican eaters, you'll probably love this place, I liked it as well. read more

Not awful, but not great either. We are from Texas and were hungry for Mexican food. Unfortunately this didn't satisfy our craving. I had the Chicken Enchiladas Suiza. They were very bland and tasteless. The rice was mushy and flavorless. There are other Mexican restaurants in town, try one of them first. Went to this Mexican Restaurant with some family from the area. Being from a larger city, we've had our fair share of different Mexican restaurants. Got a combo plate that had a burrito, enchilada and a taco. Was not impressed but as others have said; not horrible. Service is mediocre, prices are reasonable. Hours are very inconvenient, they close in the middle of the afternoon for a couple hours then reopen. read more

The food here is pretty much standard fare for a Tex mex place. Now don't get me wrong it's good but what sets this place ahead of others is the salsa and chips. Homemade salsa with onions and cilantro is the way to keep me coming back. Also this place is very clean and the bathroom is spotless. The waiter we had was friendly and efficient. Don't know what happened when Nancy was here, but her meal is my go-to and I have always found it very tasty, spiced perfectly and fully satisfying. Hubby usually has Carnitas and is always happy. Living in California for years we were thrilled when this first real Mexican Restaurant showed up in Atlantic.
