He brought out our food & drinks super fast and WOW... my fiancé had the Fajitas De Los Altos with a bottle of coke. And I had the Burrito Bandera with Horchata. Just yum!! I've eaten at a lot of Mexican restaurants and this one is the best!! Warm tortilla chips and salsa. Great service! We both got the carnitas platter. It didn't disappoint. They don't give you a knife because the meat is so tender you don't need one! The meat had an incredible flavor and the beans and rice were delicious. The piña colada was the best I've ever had. Yum! Unexpectedly found on our road trip from Cedar Falls to Omaha. I got 2 tacos carnitas. Mom got 1 enchilada. With 2 waters. Carnitas was DELICIOUS! Meat was so tender and juicy not to fatty! We stopped here on our way to Colorado. It was Sunday and , besides the fast food places, it was the one of the 2 places open. While initially it didn't feel like we had a choice, since there weren't too many places open, it was the RIGHT CHOICE. The food was great! My fiancé loved the salsa, he usually doesn't care for it when we go to mexican restaurants. We had the carnitas and the pollo ranchero. We were surprised to see we had no forks, but you don't really need them, the meat comes apart easily. The server was attentive. I've noticed the restaurant has reviews from 9 years ago but it looks like maybe it's been recently renovated. I loved the murals! I'll definitely keep it in mind for next time we're doing the trip! read more

Cute family owned restaurant in the middle of a tiny town. I got the veggie fajitas and was amazed at variety and quality of the veggies. You can tell they cut everything fresh. My son got the kids chicken burrito with rice and beans and it was a generous portion. Husband got steak fajitas and it looked great. Other son got a beef burrito and said it was his favorite burrito ever. Overall, a solid choice for food really close to I-80. read more

This Mexican restaurant is a favorite for many locals! The flavored margaritas are our favorites when we eat here. The inside of the building may appear small, but can seat a lot of people. The staff works super hard and is very polite. On our last visit, it was a Friday night before a home football game, and the crowd all arrived at once. The staff was cool under pressure, and moved people very quickly, while also being respectful of those who waited. There is a lot of nice variety on the menu. Long, long, time ago this used to be the Cyclone in Stuart. For the few that have the pleasure of those happy days you wont be disappointed on your first visit to Los Altos. The inside is shockingly well done and they had an artist paint Stuart murals on the wall. The staff is very friendly and the place picks up and gets really busy about lunch time on a Sat. Are party of four was sat quickly and we were helped right away. I got the chimichanga and asked for the beans on the side cause I am not a huge fan of beans. The beef was nice big beefy chunks and not ground beef. The guacamole and sour cream on the side was delicious with the overall meal. Everyone ordered something a little different from the next. We all really enjoyed our meals. We even had a little fun and got a cheese cake desert. Nom! If you have picky eaters they carry a great selection of American food..like hamburgers and fries and such. Also daily drink specials. If I was in town I think this would be a regular spot. There was even outside seating which we should have taken cause it was so beautiful out. If you live in Stuart and haven't tried, they are worth the try. With limited options in town this little stop really has raised the bar and is doing a great job. read more

First let me say, hurray for Stuart!! We have a Mexican restaurant, and not just a Mexican restaurant, but a really good Mexican restaurant!!! I really walked in not expecting much. Boy! Was I wrong. First, the place is clean, well lit and the ambience was happy and friendly. I had the Carnitas, which came with refried beans, rice and a small plate salad. The pork was to die for! Slow cooked, juicy and flavorful! My husband had the chicken Burrito Mexicano and 2 very large margaritas and he loved it! We also indulged and had the churro dessert! Super yummy!! They also have flan! Next time! The service was very nice! Our waiter, Luis, was polite and friendly and I was so happy to be able to speak Spanish to someone, I don't get to do that very often in Iowa! I highly recommend this place. We stopped here for dinner based on the Yelp reviews, as well as the hotel clerk's recommendation at the AmericInn. Everybody steered us to the right place, as the food here put the Mexican restaurant in Colorado to shame. So did the margaritas! We shared a double order of steak and chicken fajitas. Nothing too original, but cooked to perfection and the meat was not chewy or gristly. The free, warm chips and yummy salsa were a great starter. The churros dessert was WAY better here than in Colorado. The restaurant is not flashy, but very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we would recommend other travelers take a detour off of I-80 for this treat. read more
