What a cute roadside diner and kitchen. The staff is friendly and the food is good. It is about the atmosphere here truly, regulars and side road hunger but when you are in here to eat, you feel like family! The food is home-style good! Just like your grandma's or aunties house! Yarnell AZ has a lot of history to it back to 1865 when gold was discovered in them hills! Not to mention the devastating loss of love of the Yarnell fire and its hotshots. So stop here and grab some grub then shoot over to the hotshot memorial and remember supporting a small town is really supporting the families and history! read more

We actually love this place. It's a great place to meet old friends and make new friends. The staff and the service are awesome. But quality has been slipping badly the past few months. After years of perfection, they actually now refuse to cook my eggs to order anymore (Say what? This is a breakfast joint!), and the eggs they do serve come out watery and inedible regardless of doneness. Then they ran out of almost everything on a nice Sunday at lunchtime. No burgers, no bacon, no ham, no fries, no sandwich rolls, and what we did get an hour later was cold, mushy and unappetizing. Any nice weekend morning means the place is going to be jam packed with customers. Just order enough food for the busy weekends, please. Would be glad to change this review if things get back to the old normal. We love the place, but we don't come here nearly as often as we used to. read more

We love to ride on the bikes here! The owner is super nice and very accommodating and all the servers are awesome! They have the absolute best red chile sauce! The people who work here couldn't be friendlier -- the other patrons were super friendly too! We showed up at 8am on a weekend and were seated and served quickly. I took advantage of the early bird menu and enjoyed the breakfast burrito for only $4.50. We enjoyed the conversation as much as the food, and the decor was perfect for a small town diner. Firstly, I sure miss you Shelley and Steve Bergeson and all your years and dedication to the Ranch House in Yarnell, Arizona. Then the ninth day of September two thousand and fourteen happened- pen to paper and the days of those two became one lady who owns Painted Lizard in Yarnell - but LOOK at the date - This lady took a heavy loss in the Yarnell Hill Fire ( w w w yarnellhillfirerevelations . c o m ) both personal and professional and she stood "strong" and when Shelley and Steve put it up for sale it only made sense to have her take it over. I have over time heard many things of good for all the owners to this establishment. I know personally she bends over backwards and makes me feel like family when I am in their town. I appreciate them all even the Harris family. I miss Shelley's mom. Every time I hike, I think about her. Secondly, Vicki Velasquez...you "are" an angel. I really "believe" that. Winner of our pie-off, pecan pie category So, a coworker and I arranged a pie-off to gauge which bakery had the best pies in two categories-- cherry and pecan. Grand Traverse Pie Co won the Cherry Pie category and Ranch House won the Pecan Pie category. Can't vouch for the regular food, but the pecan pie was uber yum. Pecans were flavorful, goo was rich without being too much, and the crust was good. read more

I took a break from visiting family in Phoenix during Thanksgiving and did a road trip down memory lane. I lived in Yarnell from 1970-1973.... Yikes ... 50+ years ago. My family and I would eat at the ranch house every Friday night... I always had the fried shrimp dinner and then on Sundays after mass, we'd be back at the Ranch House for breakfast. I was an Alter Boy at St. Mary's (next door) and was shocked to see the charming little catholic church completely gone.... an empty field. However Ranch House remains. I ordered a jalapeno burger with pepper jack and crispy seasoned fries. Lunch was excellent. The service was friendly, prompt and casual. The environment seemed not to change at all in 50 years. It was fun to hear the locals banter back and forth in the restaurant during lunch time. I glanced at everything being served and it all looked carefully prepared with quality ingredients. The egg bun they used for my burger was awesome. I highly recommend a visit to the Ranch House if your headed on 89A North.... a step in time yet keeping pace with quality food and genuine hospitality. read more

I'm pleased to report that the service was great, with friendly attentive staff, and the ham and eggs was excellent - as it used to be.. and the bacon was nice and crispy. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming as always. You can also now use debit cards as opposed to 'cash only' as it used to be, another bonus. This review is really about what makes America a great place and reminds me why I am very proud to have been born and grown up here. I imagine the traits I appreciate here are not exclusively American ones, but they are ones we, as a country, value deeply and embrace. That this review is about how those traits express themselves in good food and service is why I have chosen to post it here on Yelp. There is this little town in southern part of the county, really not much more than a pretty, wide spot in the road, but like many rural places in the US, a strong and independent community. Most people had never even heard of this little town until June of 2013. After June 30th, there were very few that had not heard about the tragedy and terrible loss of the "Yarnell 19." The Ranch House Yarnell is a sprawled building on the east side of the highway, when we fist visited it, an unremarkable off-white and now a vibrant blue. It is the local breakfast and lunch spot for this town; where the locals and travelers alike gather. Just about any small town worth its salt has one like it. Last June the folks that make this place more than an old, ramshackle, building could see a raw slice of hell bearing down on their homes, businesses and neighbors. There was no fighting it; nineteen of America's best Wildland Firefighters had already succumbed to its unstoppable rampage. They had to turn and run. It was endless days until they knew what had survived. Across the street was desolation; homes had burned to their very foundations, and the earth scorched and barren. But the Ranch House still stood. It was dingy from smoke and every inch of it had to be washed by hand. When power lines fell to flames every perishable food item was lost as the refrigeration failed. It was all replaced and in a few weeks they opened. They picked themselves up and went back to work. They serve darn good food and people like my Husbear and I make it a point to stop here whenever we are in the area. This isn't Michelin three-star cuisine; (in most of the U.S. that is considered an odd affection anyhow.) They offer home-made Biscuits and Gravy, Hash Browns, Pancakes, Steak & Eggs, Bacon, Sausage. In short, the breakfast classics that we all know and love, done just about to perfection. Boy do I like their Breakfast! Lunch likewise is all the old-school diner classics: Burgers and Frys, sandwiches, Tuna, Chili, Enchiladas & Burritos (hey, this is still Arizona after all!) And, just to surprise the complacent, a very tasty Grilled Trout Fillet with Salad and a pretty darn good Philly Cheese Steak for this far from Market Street. Don't drive by; these folks are the real deal. And afterwards, when you are stuffed like I am, take a minute and look across the road and listen. This restaurant did not disappoint! While visiting friends in Glendale, Arizona, we decided to take a road-trip to Yarnell to check out the Ranch House. Breakfast diners, drive-ins, and dives are what we do! The four of us ordered different breakfast entrees. The biscuits and gravy were homemade and Grade A! The Farmer's Breakfast, Rancher's Breakfast, and their special of day which consisted of two eggs, beans, and two enchiladas were all on the money! To much for any of us to eat though. As other reviewers have stated the portions are huge. You won't go away hungry by ordering a half order. The inside of the restaurant is small and quite charming. The wait staff were attentive and fun. It was worth the drive and we highly recommend giving it a try! P.S. They only accept cash. There is an ATM on site if you forget. read more

My daughter and I stopped in for lunch on a recent Friday afternoon on our way from Prescott to California. I read a couple of positive reviews on Yelp and decided to stop in for lunch. The restaurant decor is homey, comfortable and welcoming. The menu featured a number of comfort food options. I ordered the Fish and Chips special and my daughter had a cheese crisp. We were both happy with our selections. Food was prepared carefully and the food tasted great. Service was very good too .... the waitress checked in on us a few times to make sure we had what we needed. One thing to note is that they do not take credit cards. I discovered that fact when I went to pay. There is an ATM right outside the door to get cash but iit comes along with a $4 fee. If you do not want to pay a fee, make sure you bring some cash with you. read more

It's a small Diner with a nice atmosphere, and the staff is very friendly, as others have said they do not accept credit/debit cards, so bring cash, they have a ATM, but it charges $4. Ordered the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs, while it was a large portion, the biscuits were bland and the gravy was way to salty. The eggs were not scrambled, seemed like just a egg that had the yoke broke on the griddle and mixed in. Walking in I saw the "Cash Only" sign and almost left, (I generally carry very little cash) but the smell drew me in. The smiling waitress told me to sit anywhere so I took the closest table. She took my drink order and left the menu for me to peruse. A decent selection for a small diner and I settled on the Farmers Platter, eggs, hash browns, and biscuits with gravy.
