They'd rather stay indoors on computer, on phones (social media) or just lounge around watching tv. Life is happening all around you. Get up get out and get going. Plus, doing activities at the park is a healthy move keeps the kids actively involved in something rather it's playing basketball, passing a ball around, tag, roller skating, skate boarding, on the playground (monkey bars, slides, swings) etc. I miss this for the kids today. I'm so happy I gave two very active boys whose into sports (basketball) so why not take advantage! The park is where kids need to be doing living an active healthy life.

NOW THIS IS WHEN I WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS !!!!! Not to the park but to the Sherriff, Lawndale PD, and the local neighbors. They were very rude and racist. They sent police TO THE PUBLIC park (In which we paid to rent out the center), and they first made up a story that someone reported street racing *we were all parked and had been parked for hours* and then he came right back around trying to be apologetic about the reason we were there, he still said now that neighbors were reporting noise and DANCING. I didn't know dancing was a crime!!!!! Now just the week prior we were there for my Uncle who is of another race and there were no problems and the same things were occurring in the center and parking lot but now this time around it's African Americans and now it's an issue. They had a police car sitting adjacent to the park for the remainder of the event which made us feel harrassed and we ended up leaving our paid event due to being uncomfortable and afraid of what other lies an issues they were going to create. I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN AND ONLYYYYYY BECAUSE OF THIS!!! If you need somewhere to book an event I would suggest them. Just make sure you guys are not dancing, it might be mistaken for a crime smh

It's very clean (and probably because it's locked up during off / closed hours). They have ample swings, one of the only parks with four (4) separate baby swings. The area in Lawndale is nice enough too, and it's tucked away in a somewhat secluded residential area. The playground equipment is nice and some are very new, modern and unique looking too. This sports a double wide slide too.

This summer we came the 2nd weekend and it was closed both Saturday and Sunday. When we called to ask why it was closed they said they didn't know. Today I called at 11:45 and they told me that the pool would be open at 12. When I got here we were told that they ran out of chlorine and were waiting for someone to bring some. Then at 1 we were told they would open at 1:30. Finally at 1:50 the pool opens and I'm told that my rec id had expired and I need to renew with 2 forms of id or pay. I said we've been waiting for almost 2 hours and we need to leave soon by the time I go home and get that it will be too late can you just let us in. The guy said uh no. Also if there is a birthday party the pool gets packed with kids and parents. Once the pool gets dirty they close the pool and tell you to come back next time usually within the last half hour. Also at the end of the season the lifeguards start to call out so if there are not enough lifeguards the pool can't open. Also they charged me $1 more than what is listed on the website. If you're coming from far away I wouldn't recommend. If you're local and have a rec ID it's worth taking a chance but expect to be disappointed

There are shady areas and lots of Adirondack chairs spread throughout. The picnic tables are shaded. There's a little library nook. It was dog friendly. There's an adult workout equipment area. There's a skate park, an open grassy area, a full basketball court, a trail around the perimeter of the park for walking/running, a play ground for smaller children, and I believe I saw an area for BBQ. Sounds good doesn't it. Well what brought the quality of this park down was the bad kids that occupied nearly all the spaces I mentioned above. The high use of profanity, marijuana, and just some reckless behaviors changed everything for me about this park. A group of kids actually had a pistol out in the open, I don't know if it was real or not, but at this point it wasn't about to the activities one can enjoy but more like a safety concern now. Had it not been for the people, this park would of received at least 4 stars from me. I'm not into playing with the safety of my son, or my loved ones life. You won't find me here again.
