I recently purchased a Cessna 182 and brought it over to Ramona Avionics for an avionics upgrade. I asked to have my defective attitude indicator and HSI replaced with the new Garmin GI 275 digital units, plus a fuel flow sensor, and new digital clock. I explained to Dave that my plane's autopilot wasn't able to fly the glideslope on an ILS or GPS approach. It seemed to only be able to fly the localizer on approaches. Dave gave me a quote on the install of the new equipment, which he held to by completion of the work. But in addition to installing the new equipment, in the process of re-wiring everything, he fixed the problem my autopilot was having following glideslope on approaches, and he found and installed a WX-500 Stormscope that was mounted in my airplane's tail which had been disconnected and disabled by the previous owner for reason's unknown. In fact, I had no idea it was there, and the plane had not been advertised as coming with a Stormscope when I purchased it. Dave installed the Stormscope and got my autopilot working correctly all at no additional cost. In the end, I feel like he gave me a new plane. I can now use the autopilot to fly approaches all the way down to the DA, and have a WX-500 Stormscope displaying live thunderstorm activity on my GPS display... in addition to my new Garmin attitude indicator and HSI units. I could not be happier I brought my plane to them. read more
