The tailoring that I had done was done on time and done well. Ramon is kind and listens to requests. It is cash only!!

I called in to ask if a dress could be altered. He said to bring the dress in. I walked over in 30 minutes. He said, he isn't taking on more work because he is too busy. I said it wasn't urgent and a couple of months would be okay. He said, nope -- Why would you make me walk over then? It looks like he unfortunately cannot handle moderate - difficult alterations. If it isn't a simple hem, I don't think he has the ability to do it. So, don't bring over big ticket items! As another reviewer stated, he turned her away to another tailor because of the difficulty level. Secondly, no mask in the store, which is a COVID nightmare. Thanks, and I won't ever be returning. My first time to a tailoring shop in this area, and everything went smoothly. I needed to taper a suit pant to match my older, already-tailored pair, and Ramon did the job in a day. He was also pretty flexible with timing - he first proposed Friday (I came on Monday), and he said he could get it done by Tuesday. It cost $20 to taper them, which was pretty reasonable considering that my other pair (tapered at Suitsupply) cost about $35 and required a dry-cleaning receipt. You pay after getting the job done. I did think it was pretty funny that he had to write "chino" on my tag given that his shop is in an Asian neighborhood, but whatever helps him I guess. read more

No no no no no. I took in 3 pairs of pants to have the zipper replaced and 1 pair of pants that needed the waist taken in, which they did just fine (easy jobs). However, I brought in a matching set (top and pants) that required an apparently higher skill level than Ramon can provide and he completely ruined both the top and pants. They added a weird seam to the top which not only was necessary and I did not ask for, but was uneven and sloppy. The pants are an even worse disaster. A beautiful pair of fitted cropped slacks that are now bunchy, uneven, and look to be beyond repair. I got my $ back for the set and will be taking it elsewhere to see if it can be fixed, if not I will be going back and having them give me the money I paid for the BRAND NEW WITH TAGS set that they ruined that I obviously cannot return. All in all, I would say fine for VERY simple and basic tasks, but if you need something more "complicated" done GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!! read more

Quite possibly NY's most iconic tailor shop, conveniently located on the Lower East Side. Ramon and his tailors do exacting, excellent work for extremely good prices. I once had a velvet drape dress sized down 3 sizes, I came back for fittings twice, they did a perfect job and it cost $40. I first found this shop ten years ago when my husband was looking for a custom-made suit for our wedding. My best friend told me that Ramon had made both her and her friend's husbands' suits for their weddings; I saw pictures of both of them and they were beautiful. We ended up using Ramon as well for my husband's wedding suit. He created a stunning grey suit that fit my husband perfectly and that he still gets compliments on ten years later. It was also priced quite reasonably, particularly given the quality of product delivered. I recently purchased some Theory suits for myself which needed significant tailoring. I went online to find Ramon again since it had been a decade. I read some newer bad reviews, which suggested that 1) he has retired; 2) the quality of his work has declined, and 3) he is less than professional. I was perplexed. I called myself and learned he's still in business and running the store. I can attest that none of these Yelp critiques are accurate or correct. Ramon did beautiful tailoring work on these two expensive suits that now fit me like a glove, and within just a few days. His prices remain competitive too - he charged $60 to significantly tailor two suits (jacket and pants). Ramon exemplifies the old-school, NYC business-owner who takes pride in his work and understands that the quality of the product he delivers is what dictates success. This is a great tailor. I brought in some pants to be tapered on Saturday. Initially, I was told to come back at 5 P.M., then 3, then 2, and finally I was told that he could taper the pants right there and the work was done in 20 minutes. They also do bespoke suits for $700 - $1,000. Not bad considering that this is NYC. read more
