I was skeptical about the vegetarian friendliness of this restaurant. There is virtually nothing on the menu that is vegetarian. Most significantly, note that the beans are cooked with meat. Found this little gem on Yelp when I was in town for work and needed a great meal and a good couple of drinks after flying all day. They have award winning salsa that lives up to the reputation! Was greeted immediately with a hefty basket of tortilla chips and a seriously delicious top shelf margarita with Don Julio resposado. Really excellent Mexican food. Fresh guacamole, fresh chips, and salsa tastes like it was just made. A delicious Carnitas pork came perfectly cut and served with tortillas in generous portions. The beans and rice were up to the task, not bland or dry. The chicken with mushroom comes under a cream cheese sauce that's not too overbearing or too heavy something (but don't consider it "light" by any stretch). This dish was what your grandmother would fix if she was Mexican but learned to cook in the Southern US. Located in a district of giants strip malls including a converted box store that's now a kind of depressing Self Storage, Ramirez notwithstanding all that has bright and colorful interior decor with Mexican music playing. Overall it's a very lively atmosphere once you go inside, so don't let the exterior Interstate Exit aesthetic chase you away. My first visit here. The wait staff is excellent. They make you feel very comfortable and they are very friendly and always available. They refill your drink without you asking. The chips are thin, warm and delicious. The salsa has good flavor. It is not spicy. It is heavy on the cilantro. The taco is amazing. The enchilada is delicious. The beans were okay. Shitty service, mid food, & left with thirst. --Our server was clueless or absolutely just judge us completely. My husband and I went to eat for our first time to try this high rated mexican restaurant. (We're mexican, so we've had our fair share of mexican restaurants in the Ark-La-Tex) We were there on memorial day, so not too slow but not busy enough for this to be excused. We arrived and got seated pretty quickly, however our server just kept disappearing. It was to the point where my husband finished his water halfway through before we got our meal & even then she didn't try to offer a refill or anything. Then we wanted to ask for one thing throughout our meal but she never once came to check on us. So we just asked towards the end, by this point my husband was drinking from MY water to fill his thirst. & She came around finally took the cup & never came back with it. Just the check.
