He was overwhelmed with not knowing what he was looking at on the menu. I ordered the Birria tacos and a Mexican beer. Jason looked at me looking panicked and unsure. I said he wants the same thing. We took our # and got a table Gallo beer in hand. 8:15. Out tacos landed at 8:18. So fast and efficient can effectively describe this place. The tacos were AMAZING. I could only eat 1- (of 3) Jason ate 2. So I had to box up 3. The did well left over. I really enjoyed them. I didn't see / find what I ordered on the marquee or in the menu. I have no idea how much the beer cost. I didn't get a receipt. There was a salsa / condiment bar that I didn't make use of because I was done eating when I went exploring and discovered it. The restrooms was clean and well stocked. All in all I give it a five. I think Jason was less impressed. We're going to settle on a 4.

I ordered the chicken and steak street tacos--the chicken was okay, but the steak was delicious and full of flavor. I added a side of rice, and that was a big miss. It was plain, with no flavor, no spices, no veggies--definitely not the seasoned Mexican rice I'm used to. They also brought out the chips and salsa. The salsa wasn't thick, but it had more of a tomato paste taste instead of that fresh tomato flavor I was expecting. I usually look forward to fresh, zesty salsa at Mexican spots, so that was another letdown. The service, though, was great--my waitress was nice and friendly, which made the experience even better. There was a second menu on a poster board tacked to the wall with hand written prices and items. All confusing to a first timer. I requested a simple chicken breast with lettuce and tomato, I did not want rice, beans, corn/flour tortillas or tamales. I expressed this to the cashier with hopes he could point me to the menu item or figure out how to make a simple adjustment. No such luck. He was flustered with my simple request. He had to go talk to the cook (possibly the manager/owner) on multiple trips to ask questions. She stayed away from the counter and would not address me directly, which would have been helpful and would have been good customer service. The arbitrary price quoted for a chicken breast and a shredded lettuce, tomato salad, $20.00, More expensive than anything I could find on the hand written menu. No exceptions. Except when all was said and done, I was charged $20.79. We would have left except my husbands diabetic limitations had been reached, he needed to eat. So we stayed. He ordered Caldo De Res $15.59 with Chips and Salsa $6.23. All overpriced. It was necessary to return to the front counter two times to remind the cashier that we ordered chips and salsa. Once the chips and salsa were delivered and we sampled the salsa, we were highly disappointed. The chips were bland and the salsa tasted like it came from a jar that was bottled in New York City. When the cook delivered my husbands food to the table I tried to ask her about the salsa, she quickly turned on her heals and headed back to the kitchen. The cashier was right behind her with my overpriced $ 20.79 chicken breast and lettuce/tomato/avocado salad. I asked him if the salsa came out of a jar and if they had salsa that i could not purchase at the grocery store. He admitted that the salsa was outsourced, they did not make the salsa in the restaurant and they did not have an in house salsa. They did have hot sauce that they made on the restaurant, which he brought to the table, it was good on the chicken but a bit watery for the chips. The food was good, but not worth the $52.90 bill. The ambiance was what we expected for a reasonably priced Mexican restaurant: families gathering for a Saturday lunch, working men coming in during their lunch break , reasonably clean, great flavor. The high cost for this simple meal will prevent us from patronizing this restaurant.
