I have been to many stores that look like this anywhere from New York to Paris. To others, who are used to to Big Box fabric shops such as Joann's Fabric, this place may seem chaotic. I was so blown away by their prices, that I filled a luggage with my purchases and paid the $30 bucks fee to bring it home to Florida and I still saved a ton. They have everything! No real order, or like we say in Spanish: No tiene pies, ni cabeza. But you can see a little where they tried to organize their chaos. The store is very small and they just have a lot. I also saw a basement where I could see home fabrics, didn't look into them. The sales associate who helped me was also super nice and friendly. Gave me a little extra discount too since I got quite a bit. This shop will be my first stop on my next trip to the Big Apple!

Save-A-thon isn't a fabric store per se, but it's a jack of all trades stop that sells everything from craft supplies, home decor, accessories and more. They do however have a lot of fabric, FOR CHEAP!!! I don't know if this is irregular, dead stock , overstock or what, but they have some very good quality fabric way under priced. I was like a kid in a candy store here. Because I didn't have that much space in my suitcase. I didn't buy as much as I wanted to, but I bought enough where I have to mail some home lol. They sell some amazing cuts of leather that I wish I would've been able to purchase anything from small cuts for $10 to complete hide sized cuts for a little over $100 unbelievable price of leather. This is a family-owned, Black-owned, women-owned, small business in the Bronx and they don't stop at just offering fabric, trimmings and tailoring. They also host sewing camps for kids and adults. They have various types of machines thta you cna come in to try out and see what might work for you. The prices of their fabrics are reasonable. I did purchase some shears that I was able to find for less money elsewhere, and I was able to return them in exchange for store credit. This policy did not bother me because I plan to return for more fabric, as our cosplay is quickly becoming an annual tradition, but be advised that you will get store credit in lieu of a full refund. Owners, Clarissa and Nadine, are very knowledgeable and a wealth of tips and suggestions. If you're just starting our, they are perfect to answer any questions you may have. I'm fairly new and went in not know what I could do. I basically just explained my dilemma and was directed to the best fabric for what I wanted to construct. It was the first time I ever made pants, two-toned no less, and they came out amazing. When I visited, I had my kiddo with me and she was gifted with some scrap fabric and an elastic band, and a quick tutorial to construct a simple scrunchie. She was super ecstatic and I hope she takes to sewing as I have. I will definitely be regularly visiting for my cosplay construction needs.

Here, she bought all her threads, Singer machine needles, zippers, etc. With a minimalist Pinterest inspiration for a small beige linen curtain for my new half-bathroom in mind, my mom and I searched for the fabric. Similar to Chester Sewing, Blossom Holness still remains the lone survivor in the world of family-owned fabric stores as I previously described in my Chester Sewing review. Now, with brand new owners, Nadine and her ladies are bringing a new mix to their model. She's included 6? 8? 10? portable sewing machines for sewing classes. What a wonderful idea and addition to their shop to bring the community together. You'll find the silks with silks, cotton with cotton, upholstery-type fabric with like fabric, etc. Except, out of all the colors available, beige was non-existent, so settled for a cotton (not the feel I was going for). Do know that Blossom Holness has a delightful selection of gorgeous notions, buttons and trims- so definitely check it out. Service was incredibly pleasant and as for the old, 'Chester Sewing Center' awning that still remains, Nadine is awaiting the name change that's been put in place already.

Today was my first time ever visiting this fabric store and I was not happy with the service at…read moreall. As soon as I walked in, the only store employee who was working at the time named JANE did not greet me at all. She showed poor customer service and was not able to help me with what I needed. When I walked over to where she was standing she failed to greet me again as a customer, and never said anything such as "How May I help you?" Once I finally got Jane's attention she just stared at me...so I proceeded to let her know the reason why I'm visiting the store was to find a beige colored piece of fabric to patch up a mark I had on my coat. The first thing Jane told me was "we don't have that type of material." She didn't bother to look at my garment or offer to assist me in finding something similar.
