Just checking out my old haunt in their new digs...I must say...I LOVE IT! This location is MUCH larger than the previous which allows the inventory to "breath" as well as allowing Sav-a-thon to expand their offerings!. It was great seeing familiar faces and I look forward to becoming familiar with all the new ones as well. This shop hasn't been open very long. Its very bright and clean and the selection of fabrics are amazing. Be sure to check out their embossed vinyls. Their arts & crafts section is coming along and if you are a knitter or crocheter...check out their wide selection of yarn! If you are into bling....there is a section dedicated to faux rhinestone on the main floor. This Sav-a-thon could easily rival Lady Jane's given some time. I'm here for it!

I was thrilled to have this store close home , there is a decent variety of fabrics , art/craft supplies and even sewing machines . They could have used their space batter and have a larger variety of fabrics , but this is not the main problem with this store . The man cutting the fabric on the second floor , has a very unpleasant demeanor . He doesn't offer any help , he is sitting there checking his phone and ignoring people . I asked him for 2 yards of a fabric and he seemed extremely bothered by the interruption, please read the other reviews and do something about this person's behavior. There is another store selling fabrics a few feet away , so I won't be coming back here . This screenshot is from your social media and this is the person I'm talking about at your Fordham location

I saw the for rent sign and was bummed becauae i just bought a $15/$30 groupon. Glad to know they moved within the area?

https://youtu.be/9MdERABy8L0 They've moved, they are on the other side of Jerome Ave. , 2 W. Fordham Rd. The youtube video is a tour of the new store.

Do they offer free sewing classes? If so How can I attend, where are they taught and when?

Yes every Wed at our Manhattan Location at 5:15 to 6:15 just walk in.

I came here to see if they carried a fabric that I could use to sew a cosplay outfit for my son. I…read morehave another fabric store that I frequent for supplies but they did not have anything that would work with the other fabric I already had. I was making pants for the first time and they were different colors, so the materials had to work well together as far as weight and appearance. This is a family-owned, Black-owned, women-owned, small business in the Bronx and they don't stop at just offering fabric, trimmings and tailoring. They also host sewing camps for kids and adults. They have various types of machines thta you cna come in to try out and see what might work for you. The prices of their fabrics are reasonable. I did purchase some shears that I was able to find for less money elsewhere, and I was able to return them in exchange for store credit. This policy did not bother me because I plan to return for more fabric, as our cosplay is quickly becoming an annual tradition, but be advised that you will get store credit in lieu of a full refund. Owners, Clarissa and Nadine, are very knowledgeable and a wealth of tips and suggestions. If you're just starting our, they are perfect to answer any questions you may have. I'm fairly new and went in not know what I could do. I basically just explained my dilemma and was directed to the best fabric for what I wanted to construct. It was the first time I ever made pants, two-toned no less, and they came out amazing. When I visited, I had my kiddo with me and she was gifted with some scrap fabric and an elastic band, and a quick tutorial to construct a simple scrunchie. She was super ecstatic and I hope she takes to sewing as I have. I will definitely be regularly visiting for my cosplay construction needs.

Even before Yelp's Blossom Holness event, my mom and I (mom mostly) would come to this fabric store…read morefrequently a block away from the 6 train in Castle Hill when it was previously owned by Dominicans and called Singer Chester Sewing Center. Here, she bought all her threads, Singer machine needles, zippers, etc. With a minimalist Pinterest inspiration for a small beige linen curtain for my new half-bathroom in mind, my mom and I searched for the fabric. Similar to Chester Sewing, Blossom Holness still remains the lone survivor in the world of family-owned fabric stores as I previously described in my Chester Sewing review. Now, with brand new owners, Nadine and her ladies are bringing a new mix to their model. She's included 6? 8? 10? portable sewing machines for sewing classes. What a wonderful idea and addition to their shop to bring the community together. You'll find the silks with silks, cotton with cotton, upholstery-type fabric with like fabric, etc. Except, out of all the colors available, beige was non-existent, so settled for a cotton (not the feel I was going for). Do know that Blossom Holness has a delightful selection of gorgeous notions, buttons and trims- so definitely check it out. Service was incredibly pleasant and as for the old, 'Chester Sewing Center' awning that still remains, Nadine is awaiting the name change that's been put in place already.
