I never leave bad reviews, but I can't recommend this shop. Dropped a dress off several weeks ago, and called last week to check when it would be ready, and we agreed on this Monday. I got busy with family in from out of town and came today (Thursday) to pick it up, which gave him several extra days to complete it. When I arrived, he told me he could have it done in 45 minutes, because he hadn't even started the alteration. There were no pins or markings from where I had asked for it to be taken in... Meaning it sat in the shop for weeks untouched, and that likely he would've just randomly guessed how much it needed to be taken in and thrown it together. Waste of my time, and now I still need to find someone who will actually fix it for me. Unfortunate because most of the reviews seem positive, but I didn't have a good experience here. read more

I very rarely leave bad reviews, especially for a mom pop shop. But I don't want what just happened to me to happen to somebody else. I have gone to Thomas before for work, and have always been happy. This time I brought something in and he told me to give him two weeks. I gave him three because this place was was a hot mess of clothes upon clothes. When I came to pick it up, he told me it's not done and he showed me out the door come back tomorrow. When I came back the next day, he was sitting having a beer with a gal, no judgment here, except a project was not done. When I got upset, he gave me my article and told me to go somewhere else. Mr. Ramirez did an excellent job hemming my pants. I've been to other tailors who do sloppy work, the hems aren't measured correctly and the frayed ends of the pant legs are left exposed. Mr. Ramirez did exactly what I requested and my pants fit perfectly now and the hem looks excellent. His prices are extremely reasonable and he's a very warm and friendly guy. A friend recommended this place because the prices are reasonable. I brought two suits to get altered. Got the suits back and wore one to a wedding - ended up having to safety pin the side of one pant leg closed because the stitching came undone (pants were not tight, so I didn't tear the stitches, so I don't know whether he cut too much fabric and the stitching was made too close to the edge of the fabric but it's not hold through a single wearing.) So the next week I brought the pants back, and he said he would fix it for free. Because of that, I did not get a ticket nor did he put my contact information on the pants. I came by two weeks later and they still were not done. And then I came back two months later and he could not find them. I just returned a third time with the suit jacket, hoping we could find the pants. But he could not find them and now let me know that he probably gave them to Goodwill. So now I have a suit jacket, without pants to match it so basically a worthless (the suit had very light, almost imperceptible pin striping so a new pair of pants is not something that I could simply pick up. He said the next time I needed something altered he would do it for free, but I would much rather go somewhere else than ending up having another item of clothing go missing. read more

I was on the hunt for a good, not ridiculously expensive alterations place. I got a few recommendations from friends, and I finally settled on making a visit to see Mr. Ramirez. I had given him a call to see if he can give me a ball park range of what it will cost to take a fancy Lazarro dress. I stopped by right before he closed for the evening at 4:30 pm. I thought I needed a lot of work done to this gorgeous Lazarro dress, but to my amazement (slight Holiday weight gain) I didn't need that much done. Slight tuck around the bodice, and shoulders taken up about 1/2inch.... Total, $20! Great! Fast service too! I took it in on a Thursday before close and got it back on Saturday... only a day really! Make sure you have cash unless your alterations are over $35... there is a charge. Tomas Ramirez is such a sweet lil man! The location was easy to find right off of Grand. Sad thing is, he will not be in this location much longer. He said he was at this location for 19 years! I don't know what to say about this place, so I'll be completely honest. Me and a friend dropped off my BRAND new suit and his pants for tailoring. My jacket sleeves needed to be shorten a little bit and our pants needed to be shorten as well. We were told that he was busy so I understood and said take your time, I won't need it until August 1st. He said ok. Mind you, we dropped everything off on the 8th of July and it's September 3rd now that I'm writing this. September 25th, I called to see if it's finished, he said not yet and it will be ready in 2 days. I said ok. 2 days later, I called and again, it's not finished, be done in a day. I said ok. He said he will call me next day, that day came and gone and no call. I called again the next day and got the same answer, it's not ready. I'm not freaking out because my friends wedding is this Saturday. He tells me, pick it up tomorrow at 5pm. I said ok. He calls me a hour later and said , it's done, come pick up. I'm like man, it took him a hour to do but nearly a month to get done? But this is not everything guys. When I got there for pick up, my brand new suit was so wrinkled, I couldn't tell it's mine. I tried it on and just wanted to leave. I got home and went over the suit and OMG! It look like someone has been wearing my suit! There are strains on it, it's wrinkled to hell, all the tags are off, the stitchings for the flaps are gone, and it smells like someone sprayed fabric cleaner on it. There is no reason any of these things should be happening for a sleeve shortening. I am think my suit was rented out to someone else or his family was wearing it. I started thinking and realized, no wonder why he dragged the work done for nearly a month. He didn't get the suit back from the other person. I was disgusted! Have to get it dry clean now. Pictures shows my suit and my friends suit I have at my house. My jackets breast doesn't even fold over, means, someone wore it and stretched out the shoulders. Be warned. Too late to buy a new suit. I was looking for someone to help resize a jacket from XL to S. It didn't look like a straight forward job so I had low expectations for the end result for anyone who would accept the challenge. I found Mr. Ramirez' business on Yelp and gave him a call. Also, he had recently moved locations so make sure you check with him on the right address. I brought the jacket in the next morning and he said he could resize it. He dropped what he was doing to help answer my questions and to go through what I needed for the alteration. I got a call the next day that it was ready - very fast service and it looked like a brand new jacket (wouldn't be able to tell it was resized from an XL)! Mr. Ramirez is very friendly, sweet, and helpful. He makes you feel at home and is like a long time friend. His service is amazing and the prices can't be beat. This was my first time needing an alteration and I won't go anywhere else except here from now on.
