Staff is not equipped to manage random walk-ins, which every customer is. I went Friday and it was maybe 80 degrees in this little shop, front door closed and fan ineffective, weak, and pointing where no one was near. I was told to put on items for tailoring, while a lovely young lady customer stood on the pedestal getting pinned before I arrived and the 30 min I was there. A young staffer told me to change so she could pin adjustments, despite no room as other person was on the pinning pedestal.. I went into the curtained cubby, stifled by the shop's suffocating 80 degrees, and put on the first item for alterations. While in the tiny changing room, three customers came in with bags of clothes to be tailored. Same staff person who told me to get in dressing room and put on item to be tailored had to, no fault of her own, address the three customers that just walked in. I was sweating and understanding I would not be attended to for at least 20 min while the staff person addressed the 3 customers who came in after I was in dressing room. Sweating and very uncomfortable, I left after 30 min. The oppressive heat in the closed-up shop and the lack of adequate staff was more than enough to lead me to look elsewhere. Sew Elegant is great at tailoring, I have taken many items over the years with satisfaction. But the lack of staff and the stifling heat has led me to find alternative tailors. That was my experience Fri 10/03/25. They're not the only game in town. Also expensive and they charge extra for any payment no cash.

I have been trying for a month to pick this dress up and every time the shop is empty. No one is there sometimes the lights are on, I call no answer left messages no phone call back it doesn't matter if it's morning, middle of the day or evening. It has been a nightmare and I had to get a different dress for the event as I was unable to pick it up in time. Mind you we have been coming here for over 35 years as my mom had her wedding dress done here and I have been using this alterations my whole life. Never again! Coming off the 52, once you see Margaret's Cleaners, theres a parking lot right after between them and Wesco. Parking was plentiful. Masks are optional for the vaccinated. Brittany welcomed me into the place and we discussed options for what I wanted to do. In the end I decided to clean, press and preserve my dress. They also have an appointment where you can see them put it in the box. Plus they include before and after pictures. I did not end up going to do an appointment and just did the pick up and grab the paper work instead. I was glad my dress got preserved but did think it was pretty pricey to get things cleaned. I got a qipao from Chinatown LA, and I don't recall what the price was but ended up paying more to clean it than its original price. My usual dry cleaner spot didn't wash those and had directed me here. I haven't had any reason to return back, but thought my experience wasn't too bad. Just a tad pricier than expected. FYI this was a review that I started writing back in 2021 but neglected to finish on details. Glad I could finally finish it in 2025.
