Picked up a dress shirt that had a rip in it making it unwearable. When I returned with the shirt two days later owner said she would speak with the cleaners. They denied doing any damage basically saying I had torn it myself and was trying to put the blame on them. Seriously lady, take responsibility. This after a pair of mt pants returned with a new unremovable stain. Again she blamed me. I will not use this dry cleaner again. Her hours are limited and they close early when it rained last week after I made an effort to get there at 5:30PM. read more

This is a dry cleaner/alterations that constantly changes the rules of business. Prices are NEVER the same. No signs of prices posted or that any services under $20 require cash payment. I have had patches seen on clothing where she's charged $5 a patch and then I return two weeks later and the price changed to $7. Today, a pair of hemmed pants required $20 cash. She can keep the pants since the cost of the pants from Target were only $10. L O L I'll never go there again. Next is a Better Business Bureau complaint. read more

I've been there twice. The first time there was no rush, and I asked them to fix some sleeves and it was done so beautifully. You could not even tell it had been worked on. They do fantastic work here. Unfortunately, the second time I went in I was extremely clear that I needed it on a rush and I told them the exact day that I needed it and they charge me an extra $50 for the rush which I had no problem with. I went back on the day. It was supposed to be done and the woman told me that it wouldn't be ready until the following week. Unfortunately, I was leaving the next day on my trip that I needed the outfit for so I had to scramble and figure out something else to wear to the wedding out of town. I have been using them for all of my alterations for at least three years now with total satisfaction. It's easy to misunderstand the image you first get when dealing with the owner. Keep in mind there is a bit of a language barrier. They know me well now and I get treated like gold. She often charges me less than the stated price. I brought an expensive pair of jeans here for alterations and they botched the job. They were completely unwilling to do it over correctly. The job was opening up the leg seam to fit a little looser over my boots. I explained that they are selvage jeans and I wanted the fabric edge to remain visible. I carefully showed how much I wanted it altered. Not only did they disregard my instructions and open them up much further (to the point that the edging shows on the outside of the jeans), they didn't even bother to remove the bits of old threads from the original seam that they cut open. Zero interest in quality work, zero interest in doing the job as requested, zero interest in making things right when the customer points out the problem. read more

I've been going to Anny for years and she always does a fantastic job. I've had her do simple hems, take in dresses to making them more form fitting, and nipping jeans at the waist. The clothes always look flattering and feel great. Definitely be sure to get the price in writing beforehand and tell her if there is a deadline. This was the cheapest alteration place (pr so i thought) that I found in SD for original hem and at a good rating. I think it was like $13 for original hem, she did a good job, I was happy it was well sewn. Like any other alteration places. I don't know why it's so pricey in Socal to get your jeans original hem. in norcal it's only $10 for great original hem, I guess they have more asians/vietnamese people up there. but if you want the job done, anny will get it done. read more

I have never gotten alterations done before, but I have a wedding coming up and needed my maid of honor dress fitted. I show up to Annys and start with saying I do not know how this works and asked her questions to help me understand. I was incredibly nice and treated her with respect and that was not what was given back to me. I asked about how long it would take and how much it would cost. Granted, I didn't have the dress on me but she instantly started raising her voice at me and explained she could not give me those answers. That is fine I could've gotten the dress and figured it out. What was not fine was her attitude and how she spoke to me. Anyways I went to Sarah's Alterations down the street and found much better and patient service. Maybe Anny is good at her job but she's terrible with customers! read more

Adequate at best. The other reviews are accurate when dealing with the owner. She's rude! I called first asking the price for a jeans hem, she quoted me $10. I get there and according to yelp this place takes credit cards. Wrong! She does not, in fact when I told her it says she does, she started arguing saying that only in cases that the amount is more that $20. So I give her the benefit of the doubt and I try on the jeans. I come back a few days later and pay her the $10 I'm looking at her work right there and already I see it's a crappy job on a pair of lucky jeans! Good thing it's a darker color! I don't say anything because I know it's going to be a nightmare dealing with her. I just abruptly leave and say thank you. Do yourself a favor and find another alteration place. If she was at least nice it would have been a better experience. I can't even recommend her for a job well done, because she did it but not well! read more

On the upside, they hemmed a pair of pants well, and for a good price. On the downside, their customer service leaves quite a bit to be desired. I dropped off some drycleaning, as well as a pair of pants to be hemmed. The woman measuring me used one pin and only on one leg, which made me a bit nervous, but I figured, she's the expert. The afternoon of the day on which the alterations were due, I got a call from them. They told me they had lost the pins and could I come in for a re-measure. And when I got in, the man showed me the wrong pair of pants--they were the pants for drycleaning, not hemming. (The ones I needed to be hemmed didn't have pins on them either.) This took an extra trip and meant that the pants weren't ready until a day later. The most frustrating part is that nobody ever acknowledged the inconvenience or apologized for this, much less offered to take anything off the price. Maybe I just had bad luck, or this negative experience was an isolated one, but I don't think I'd go here again. read more

She does an excellent job, just make sure you agree on the price BEFORE she does the work. Get her price IN WRITING before you let her start work. She can be reasonably priced, but she will try for top-dollar if you wait until after the work is done. If you like to haggle, this is the place to go. I had a single pair of pants to be hemmed. I expected to wait a few minutes while she did the work, but she asked me to leave it overnight. I'm timid about trying new things. I'm also timid about making appointments (seriously, I haven't been to a non-urgent care doctor in 9 years). So you can imagine my horror when I had to have a blue satin bridesmaid dress professionally altered. Or maybe you can imagine it once I point out that I'd never had to have a garment altered before. Yeah, see? Scary! I found Anny Alterations while calling all the places advertising alterations in my Clairemont neighborhood. The lady on the phone was the first to sound totally friendly and stress-free. Just a "come on in whenever's convenient. We don't care if you need the dress next week (did I mention I'm a procrastinator?) or next month! We can get it done without charging extra or making you feel stupid for shyly putting this off for so long." Hallelujah! And she was totally right. I brought my dress by the next day after work, and the fitting was done in a flash. My dress was ready something like 2 days later. Maybe 3 days, but there was no special rush order or any other hassle I'd been conditioned to fear when I was selling bridesmaid dresses and sending girls out to our referral seamstresses. Seriously painless. Totally reasonable price. Loved it. Well, as much as one can love the experience of altering a blue satin bridesmaid dress. P.S. I later doused the dress in fake blood and wore it on halloween. The dress was still in perfect (even better) condition. Nice work. read more

I don't know why but I decide to give them another try again, and I got the same customer service. Anny's gets the job done and does it right! I get forwarded to this place when I need my uniforms hemmed, and I get in and out within 10 minutes. And although it may seem sketchy by how fast she makes the marks and measurements, I've never had slacks that were too long or too short. It's just a little out of the way from where I live, but I do believe she gives student discounts for dry cleaning. read more

I bought a pair of nice white Levi's on Ebay, They were a size 4 and I wear a size 1-2. I tried them on and she pinned them up everywhere, this was on a Tuesday, she said she would have them ready on Saturday, $25.00. Based on Chrisy R.'s review, I decided to take my $200 bridesmaid dress in for some alterations. I was a bit nervous to have something so expensive altered! I also waited until the last minute (brought the dress in on Monday and needed it by Thursday). oops! When I called, the person on the phone was friendly and helpful. I didn't need an appointment to bring in the dress at all! I got fitted for the alterations and,as promised I picked up my dress Thursday. It fit perfect! I have been sewing for 45 years. The corners of both my Pottery Barn sofa seat cushions tore after I washed them recently. I wanted to repair them myself, but since my sewing machine is being repaired, I decided to take both covers to "Anny Alterations" in Clairemont, close to my office. (I also had a zipper replaced in one of the cushions too). BIG MISTAKE. I should have waited. When I dropped them off, we reviewed how they would be repaired and along with the zipper she reported it would cost $60. I agreed. Today when I picked them up this how my cushions were repaired (see photo). I told the employee that I was not satisfied. I told her she did not do the repair correctly-she left the frayed edges of each of the tears ON THE OUTSIDE of the cushion. She said I always do it like this-with fabric in the inside. I said yes the fabric on the inside is correct but you should have rolled the frayed edges under-before you stitched the fabric to the inside. I asked her to do it again. She said I will have to charge you $20 more. I said no, you need to do it again. She said "if you want me to do it correctly then I charge you $20 more dollars." Aha!!! You do acknowledge you did not do the repairs correctly the first time! She said I did it this way "with fabric on the inside. You must pay $20 to have me do it again." I said no thank you. I left. And now, for the first time ever I am writing a negative comment. Do NOT take any alteratiins to this shop. They take short cuts and over charge for poor quality workmanship. I have never written a negative review for anyone before. And I never thought I will do it. I have always think that I will wrote public review like this only when I have something good to say. However, this is my first time. Because I really do not want other people to have to feel the pain I have with this tailor shop.. They said I need to come in on Friday to do the fitting, but the dress was already sew up, and sew up incorrectly.. So during the trying, Kim want to jack-up the price above what was agreed. Then, she said they are going to fix it, but they did not.... I have to pay for the dress, then pay for the bad fix that ruin it. I cannot use after they have ruin it. I end up have to buy a new dress for the event. Frankly, if I can give a zero rate, I will. This dress cost $150.-...and ruin. And I bought the new one today. Thank God this time, I select one that I do not need to do alteration. I would recommend people to stay away from this place... They are unethical! read more

Crappy customer service and not great work either. Hemmed pants with white thread instead of the matching cream colored thread in the pants. When confronted with error, Anny said the thread was white and dyed to get the cream color and they didn't have match in store. Didn't call to tell me before hand and wouldn't accept responsibility for error. Offered to fix. With what color I asked? I'll match the thread she said. Why didn't you do it the first time, I asked? Song and dance about everything but why/how it wasn't her fault. Refused to provide refund and I certainly didn't trust her to do it right. Use Anny's at your own risk. read more

I've taken a couple of items here for basic sewing needs. When I took my motorcycle jacket to have a zipper replaced on the material not the leather it was done without reservations. I asked her to replace both zippers because I anticipated the same problem to the other side. She did not do it. When the other zipper broke right on time, I took it back and she kept making excuses on why she wouldn't do it again, even though I offered to pay more money. I told her I would take it somewhere else. She was more then happy to accept that answer. One word: LAZY! read more

We took something in for repair. We asked Anny how she would approach it. She would not answer and told us to leave it to her because she knows what she is doing. We asked her to keep the material in the plastic bag because it had just been cleaned. She refused with a smirk. We let her do it anyway... we were there. When I went to pick it up, she set it down and said $10. She did not offer to show what had been done. I fished it out and found loose threads that she snipped off. The work was barely adequate, and does not look like it will hold very long. The main complaint I have is that "Anny" has the personality of a scorpion on a hot rock. 1. this place was awful. i took in a vera bradley purse, given to me by my daughter, so it is special to me. 2 zippers were broken, the top and the side. they charged me $20 to fix zippers. well, after i paid the fee, the side zipper broke. i took purse back and woman got all defensive and refused to fix the broken zipper i had paid for, and yelled at me for using the zipper. well i paid to have both zippers repaired, not one. anyway, i do not under any circumstances recommend this shop. they should have at least re-imbursed me $10--- for the one zipper that they did not fix. since i paid $20 total. ridiculously poor service. yes this place is cheap. thus poor quality. don't go there. read more

A bit on the pricey side. I brought in my evening dress I needed altered for a party and said I wanted laceup closure but they made it regular closure instead and charged me the same price. Even though it was well done I feel a bit cheated out and think I should have gotten some sort of discount for not getting what I requested. This is the first alterations and cleaners I have gone to in San Diego and I'm so lucky I chose her! She did a great job and even helped me out when I had to ask her a favor. I got some of my clothes cleaned and needed them by Tuesday night because I was leaving town Wednesday. I then went and bought a wedding dress (which is why I was leaving town) and found out it had a hole in it! On Tuesday when I went to get my clothes I asked her to pretty please sew my dress real quick and she did! She also understands English perfectly which is a plus. She said to "have fun tomorrow" and was so sweet. I will forever use her as my tailor/cleaner. read more

I see Anny have mixed reviews. I don't understand why. Initial telephone and personal contact was good. She had been recommended by my son as good and reasonably priced. My suit was an over sized 12. I needed it taken to a size 10. Well, it did not happen. I also had an extra skirt. she promised in 3 days and delivered on time. Charged $75 with a 5% discount. Upon departure after fitting, I departed happy. My son picked up my clothes for me. Upon fitting at home the suit was still too big. The extra skirt was ok. I called her and explained the situation and asked if she would fix it for no additional cost. She hotly and harshly retorted I am honest, I will do it and hung up the telephone. I was not able to say another word to her. I will take it back for correction and hope that I will be able to give her a better review. Since I have no comparisons I an not certain that the price is fair. However I wonder when I read of extensive alterations and dry clearing on a wedding dress for $35. read more

Don't know why this doesn't show up under tailor, so I am doing the whole Clairemont neighborhood a favor, by adding Anny's to the list of tailors. I had 2 dress slacks hemmed, 1 pair of jeans hemmed, and 1 dress shirt shortened and altered. They did fantastic! I thought I needed another pair of pants hemmed slightly shorter and they took the waist in so that I did not need a hem; which shows they really do know something about tailoring and not just hemming. The finishes were professional and ready in 3 days. All with a reasonable charge. I will definately return. read more
