If I could leave zero stars I would. This review is long overdue. A few years ago they lost an entire order of clothes. I was compensated for the clothes, however that was not the point. Fast-forward I constantly check my clothes to see if there are stains on them and as a precautionary measure I also photograph my clothes on their counter as I leave them. On occasion I have returned clothes to be re-cleaned. That is not a big deal as these things happen. Unfortunately, a while back I picked up a suit jacket and did not check it. The suit was stained everywhere and not cleaned properly. I went back to the cleaners and showed them the suit and asked if they could re-clean. It was clear that the jacket had never been worn, still on their hanger and did not have one wrinkle on it and was still perfectly pressed. The two women that were at the counter (not the owner) inspected the suit and insisted they had not given me the suit back in that condition. Really... Did they think I was making it up and just wanted to get a free $20 dry cleaning redo? I told them I would pay for the redo and dropped off the jacket although hoping that they would do the right thing and not charge me for the redo. I just went back and picked up the suit jacket and they cleaned it perfectly however surprisingly they charged me another $20. Terrible terrible customer service. This is the last straw. I will never go back to dry cleaning my clothes at this business. They do not deserve my business and the fact that they were trying to insinuate that somehow I was trying to trick them was humiliating. Take your business elsewhere and avoid the heartache, which is sure to come at some point as you can see by the numerous bad reviews. read more

Hired a new horrible woman. Used to love them, have been going here for 10 years, but this new woman is so horrible - losing my clothes and then saying I can't read when she hands me 9 shirts and my ticket I just gave her says 10! Spent a week of fighting with her and then finally she was not in one day and someone actually nice helped me and found my shirt. read more

I wouldn't recommend getting alterations here. I brought in a brand new pair of $150 pants (never worn and tags still on!) to get the length altered. They made one leg shorter than the other, and not just a little off....like an 1/8". They look and feel absurd on. Pants ruined. read more

This was my first try at Lele's after checking out the reviews on Yelp. I brought my comforter to be cleaned. The staffs were friendly, efficient and nice. For both drop-off and pick-up, I was out in a few minutes. There was a little bit confusion about the charge by two different staff; at drop-off I was informed it would be $35, yet when I was ready to pay I was told $40. But the lady was very gracious saying it was no problem and $35 it was. I'll come back again. read more

After years of being a loyal customer, they extorted me for $25 to hem some $14 cotton curtains, for a total of $250 for 10 of them. They used to be reasonable and nice and I trusted them. Now they are getting greedy. They never clean things quickly anymore either. It always takes several days to a werk even though they advertise same day. I will never go back. read more

I just have to write a review about Lele's. This dry cleaning place is about 1 block from my parents house, where I grew up, and so we have taken our dry cleaning there for years. Lele and his wife run the place and you can bet that they take the time to get to know you and remember you. Though they may get the details confused ( they still think I'm in school, though I tell them every time I'm not anymore), they mean more than well, and its always a pleasure. The dry cleaning and tailoring is always satisfactory, and the service is above and beyond. Lele's wife even home delivered a pair of pants for me when I couldn't make it on time to get them. I'm pretty picky when it comes to who I trust my clothes with and this is the only place I will come to for alterations. Not only does Kathy listen to what I want, but she is also not afraid to make suggestions about what she think looks better and I always end up going with her opinions. They finish everything in a timely matter and more importantly, it's done when they tell you they'll have it done unlike other places. I also love that they remember me! I have had a good experience getting my clothes cleaned here except when I did the fluff and fold a few times. The clothes were stuffed in a big plastic bag semi-wet and the cotton shirts were all wrinkled and damp. This service is expensive and I will not be doing it again. These guys rock! After flying to San Diego for a wedding I discovered my toiletries exploded and I got an awful stain - let's just say it was silicone based - on my new suit jacket. I called Lele's and the man said I could bring it in before 11 am and have it back before closing. They had it ready at 5:30 pm and the giant stain was GONE! Fast and friendly service (the staff are confidant and listen to you) and cheap ($15 for same-day suit jacket cleaning). Overall great experience. read more

Yes, LELE'S TAILORING AND CLEANERS is as good as it gets!! In the past, I had taken my highend clothing to MARGARETS due to their reputation for cleaning specialty items. However, after awhile I learned that while paying an exorbitant amount to get the item cleaned , I would get the garment back with a note, "unable to remove stain". Since I normally took my regular drycleaning to Lele's and was thrilled with the results, I then tried them with designer items. They most often could get the stain out. They remove buttons that might get damaged and hand care for very good garments. So, you know the rest of the story....Lele now cleans all of my household items, rugs, bedspreads, clothing and designer gowns. The price is better and their having the very best service in La Jolla, they have become more than a drycleaners to me, but extended family members! It is a joy to take in my drycleaning!! read more

Basically good cleaning, but when a problem occurs, don't expect an apology, a refund or any sort of compassion or compensation. We have been taking clothes to this cleaners for 3 years and in the past month have had two separate problems. The first was a lost shirt; they accused our Nanny of taking it, then weeks later it showed up in their Clairemont shop. They returned it to us, refused to apologize to our Nanny, charged the full amount and then later changed the story and said it was found lying in the street in La Jolla. Most recently, I took in two quite expensive Calvin Klein tops. They had previously been laundered at home without problems except the color was fading on one, so I decided to dry clean to try to retain the color better. They completely stretched both tops to the extent that they no longer fit, at all. Our Nanny, who drops off and picks up our laundry, was accused once again, even though the items were still on their hangers. The woman (who is usually very pleasant) went besserk, yelling and screaming at our Nanny. She then asked her assistant to come out from the back and he admittied it would well have been him to stretched them. She then became furious with him. I went back to the shop with our Nanny and the tops. The woman again stated that it was not her problem, refused to apologize for the way she spoke to our Nanny, told us the previously lost shirt was not her problem, refused to cover the replacement cost of the shirts, refused to reimburse the cleaning cost and basically smirked at us until we left the shop. If you have something of value that you couldn't stand to have ruined or lost, I would highly NOT recommend taking it to the La Jolla Lele's, at least. My friend took her (white) prom dress to this establishment and had a terrible experience. Not only did they not hem it enough the first time, requiring it to be taken back in, it seems as though someone had eaten over it and left small red stains all over the dress. When asked what caused this, they had no idea. They tried to get it out, but could not. They did not do so much as apologize for the damage they had done to her dress. This happened just days before prom and now her white prom dress has stains all over it. Would not recommend to anyone. read more
