Crunchy on the outside but tender on the inside. You can tell this chopped steak isn't frozen. Add that to a great diner run by great people, and it's a great visit overall. I highly recommend it.

So I think in talking to most of my friends I got a good view on the food, and presentation. I had a starter of Totchos, and the Beef Dipper for my entrée. Both were excellent, I shared my Totchos. These are tater tot nachos, they were excellent, normally I don't like cheese sauce on Nachos, but given the consistency and flavor of this sauce (house made, I'm guessing. Not canned) They were excellent. The Beef Dipper and Au Jus, also top notch! Generally in a French dip, there is a lot of fatty pieces, this was not that. Also at my table was the Chile Verde bowl, this one has a kick... but my friend having it really enjoyed it. The fish and chips was great, smelled fresh. Lets talk about the sides. Choice of Fries (appeared to be battered fries, always a favorite of mine.) Tots, or house made potato chips. I had the Potato Chips with mine, these were excellent, crisp and tender on the inside. The Athena (Lamb Burger) got rave reviews from one at the table The Service: Because we were in a large group they advised us they were going to be taking our orders as we came in so not to overwhelm the kitchen staff. Excellent communication throughout service given that we were a large group. I talked to one of the Owners, Laurie, I could tell she had a huge sense of pride in the place. Very friendly! The Restaurant: Great atmosphere, Fun artwork, best of all, VERY Clean, nothing sticky or no grease buildup on any surface. The glass ware on the wall behind the bar as all polished. In the bar area they stack their silver, tableware, condiments etc. in a cute little cozy box on the table, with the main dining area setup as a diner with the traditional paper napkin and silverware. For a diner motif to have shined silver and glassware is a nice touch! Summary: Eat here! The prices are reasonable, the food is excellent, when I looked at the menu online I was a little put off by no actual entrée's on the dinner menu, however the in house experience made up for that, it's a pub food vibe and they are doing it well!

The server was quick and attentive, and checked on us just the right amount. I ordered the Country Fried Steak, with hashbrowns, over-easy eggs and sourdough toast. There was easily a pound or more of hashbrowns, some of it crispy, some of it soft. It was unseasoned, but tasted great with some salt and cholula. The over-easy eggs were a bit under cooked which was fine, better than over cooked. I added it on top of my strawberry jam, sourdough toast, hell yeah. The country fried steak was decent, it was served in a white gravy, not much else to say here. I also got a scone. A+ highly recommended, because it's yuge, and came out fresh. My only complaints were that the toast was a bit cold, and country fried steak was lukewarm. I'd come back again for the scones.

I understood their locations only exist closer to the east half of the country, and was quite sad to know it'll likely be a very long time before I'll ever get the experience. Well that *was* until my good friend recommended the local diner Belgian Waffle & Omelet Inn which actually achieves everything I could ever want from a Waffle House! The food is actually amazing, and clearly made with love! I got their garlic burger which was just incredible, served with a generous portion of delicious fries! and my friend got huge stack of pancakes topped with ice cream and fresh fruit that I tried a little of and also adored! We also both had their raspberry lemonade, and I got an extra side of sausages. It was all so amazing. and even tho I saw the pricing on the menu, I was honestly expecting to spend about double what I actually paid (I seem to have generous rounded up too much in my head). I was frankly shocked the final bill was only $26! I felt like I was robbing them! I made sure to leave a large tip. The place was very clean and has a nice cozy atmosphere, and the staff were all so kind! I even received a compliment from one of the staff who's a Studio Ghibli fan and loved my soot sprite pin. I could go on and on about how this is easily one of my new favorite restaurants I'll be going to any time I get the munchies and want some comfort food, or whenever I'm really hungover and just need a quiet, gentle atmosphere where I can feel like a character in Twin Peaks. (My enthusiasm for this place is on par with Agent Dale Cooper.) I seriously can't recommend all of this enough. I'm shocked it exists, and frankly feel a sense of guile in knowing it's too good for Salt Lake City. I'm not religious, but I've now found heaven.

Coffee was poor, tasted like it had been using the same ground to pass water through several times. The place is a little run down, which is okay. But the food was poor! The waffle was soggy. The fruit for the waffle had defrosted from a bag some days or weeks ago. The chicken strips were dry. Now was it just my meal that was bad? No. The others we had weren't too great either but I do feel like if you stop here you do want to try their hash browns. They are not your traditional hash browns. They are nice thick slices of potatoes. I did wish I tried the onion rings. They looked amazing, but they were for another table. Maybe next time I will try them.

Four of us went for brunch on a Sunday morning and much to our surprise the place wasn't full and there was no wait for a table. It was nice weather so we requested to sit on the patio. While they have a nice patio area it appeared that no one had prepared and cleaned the patio for customers today. The tables with a bit dirty with debris from the trees and hadn't been wiped off at all but we were sat there anyways. We waited over 20 minutes to place our order. Not sure what the situation was because the place wasn't that busy but many tables seemed to be waiting a while to place orders or receive their food. We finally got a chance to order and each of us ordered something different. I tried the Thai Coconut Pancakes which sounded delicious. Sadly we waited and waited again for our food and then it arrived in stages. Anyone that runs a restaurant kitchen knows that patrons want to each together at the same time. Our dishes came out one by one with significant timing gaps between them. It made our experience a little disappointing. My pancakes never came out. I said something to one server and she said she'd check on it. Several minutes went by and still nothing and our own server didn't even check back in on us. I went inside to see where my pancakes were and they said there was a mistake and they were still working on it. Finally after the other 3 in our party were just about finished eating my Thai Coconut Pancakes arrived. I will say the pancakes were delicious, flavorful and quite unique. I would order this dish again but I must say based on the slow service experience we had today I'm a bit hesitant to return to Jeffi's.
