The room was so bad that we asked to move and were given another room that, although not as bad, was still very poor. However, the staff were very pleasant throughout and very helpful (I hope this is not because it happens all the time!!). The food was another matter. The set menus start at approx £85 which does appear to be a little bit pricey, but do not be put off because the food is absolutely amazing. Intertwined with the 3 courses are another number of smaller courses to really set your pallet dancing. I have never eaten such beautiful and clever food. At the end of the meal I did not feel completely stuffed, but pleasantly full, all washed down with a lovely bottle of red. The food here is amazing, pity the rooms do not live up to the same standards. A good place to go to treat yourself to a wonderful evening of food (just don't stay the night!!).

My room was in one of the remote blocks and was reasonable quality but nothing special. I only ate in the restaurant for breakfast, and the kippers, whilst tasty, had a ridiculous number of small bones in them. Despite this it was a pretty good breakfast in general and the staff were friendly and helpful.

When you enter the hotel it is quite strange as you expect reception to be there - it's not. You have to go up in the lift to get to the reception. Once inside it's very obvious as to the newness of the building as it's all very modern. The reception is situated in the breakfast area which is a little strange but the check in staff are very helpful. There is also 2 computers in this area for guest use which is a nice touch. The rooms follow the theme of the rest of the hotel - very modern. There was a flat screen TV mounted onto a wood panel. Everything in the room was very clean. The only downside to the whole stay was that there was no bath - only a shower! Not much to grumble about!!

I found my room which was not in the main house (at a lower rate) to be outdated and in need of a bit of renovation - new carpets and a fresh paint job would spruce the place up quite a bit. Shower was fine. Cleaning service was on top of their game. On the plus side, service was friendly and breakfast was excellent. The property itself was gorgeous but as I was there for work I didn't get a chance to see much of the grounds.

The bed is wicked comfortable, with the duvet being fluffy with feathers. It's a little warm for summer, but I could see how it would be amazing for escaping the winter. I must have taken 10 baths while I was here.. the water was always piping hot. Another thing, is the hotel is very quiet. I appreciated that. No one waking me up with door slamming or chatting in the hallway. Highly recommend this place. Was a great stay!
