It is Friday, so I am not unreasonable about getting a call in ten minutes. One hopes the company is busy and working at 17:30. Joe called and is set to come over tomorrow morning. That is excellent. He's not local but Newark is not very difficult. If he hops on Route 24 West to Rt. 287 North, well, it is easy. I'm thrilled -- Luis works and I'll oversee the work, and drag my dad here to make sure they are doing right by us. He just turned 78, but recalls all this kind of work and can get here easily. I can FaceTime him, too. Joe was cheerful and pleasant on the phone, sounds like an excited man and happy to potentially get more work, unlike the two yahoos we tried calling. Hopefully tomorrow will bring us to the next level. I feel good about how quickly he responded. For a first-time caller, this was great!

I have done all the work in my house over the last 25 years, but decided the effort and skill to remodel a kitchen was the job of a pro. Turning everything over to someone else was not an easy decision. However, it worked out far better than we had ever envisioned. After getting five quotes, and speaking with five contractors, we chose Steve Hopps and "Old School." Steve showed genuine interest in making our kitchen beautiful and unique. While not the least or most expensive, Steve seemed to offer something none of the other contractors offered: professional craftsmanship and a concern to get it exactly as we dreamed it would be. Our choice proved to be perfect. In every step of the way, Steve was on target. When unforeseen issues turned up, Steve suggested solutions that were right on target. He worked closely with out cabinet company, the electrician, plumber, and flooring people. He also had a hand in all of these aspects to keep the work flowing smoothly. He worked quickly and efficiently. He explained what he was doing, and his workmanship is not just professional, but the work of a true craftsman. When tiling the backsplash, he even rotated tiles placing some in the best place for a better look and flow. Only an artist, a person with a deep love of perfection would do this. Steve Hopps did all of this for us. I would highly recommend Old World Remodeling to any one. Quality, affordability, craftsmanship, personability, and results are all 10s. Choosing Old School Remodeling was the best decision we have ever made concerning our home. When it is time to do the bathrooms, Steve will be doing them, no questions asked!!!! Here are the facts: We hired this outfit to remodel our bathroom. After three months of mistake making, not showing up, and firing every subcontractor he employed-- we parted ways with the job unfinished. Subsequent contractors were shocked by the horrible quality of the work and lack of finish craftsmanship. Suffice it to say that several months later, our new contractor had to re-gut and start over most of the work. Thousands of dollars of cabinetry had to be replaced. Basic common-sense things were overlooked and ended up causing both aesthetic and functional problems. Our new contractor and electrician still share pictures of Hardman's work as examples of what not to do.
