I like shopping at Ralph's, they have really good selections of fresh fruits and veggies. Pricier than most groceries but have better and fresher selections so that's fair enough. This Ralph's is a cool essential one for Van Nuys... they have good staff and stay pretty stocked on most things. Usually walk here as it's barely a mile from my house. I grab the "old lady cart" as they often get called... no shade... if anything respect... and wheel is around the store early in the AM on weekend. The produce stays fresh and the closeout items go fast, though they have so many to choose from for those meal prep days and meals throughout the next day or so. I do noticed a lot of their plant based frozen as well as non-frozen goods (Gardein, Morning Star, Tofurkey etc), and so on get shopped extremely hard which is great (people eating healthier), but can make it more difficult when you also need that item. I love that this Ralph's carries a ton of Beyond Meat products and occasionally has some better deals than other places on them and several products throughout the store so I hope they continue to carry and keep this up especially when other areas get low quickly. The bakery section is pretty small... but I avoid that Temptation Island at all cost. The frozen goods are all on the North side of the store (in the direction heading toward Rite Aid) with wide isles to avoid any backup with other grocery shopped foot traffic. The parking lot has a lot of room to maneuver in an out with wider spaces and an expansive opening to the main entrance. Mornings are probably the only best time to shop before 11:30 am... 8 to 10 am on the weekend is the magic out... easy in and out. Self check out is your best friend during all hours however I recommend it especially after noon. read more

Two checkout lanes max are open and only one self checkout area is ever open. Today the self checkout register was stuck on a screen as soon as I walked up so I had to call for an attendant. When she walked up to scan her badge to unlock the screen she immediately told me it's a weight sensor you need to move your items off. Mind you I didn't even start scanning my items yet so I told her no the machine is acting up. It locked the screen again and she was mad she had to come unlock it again. She argued with me the whole time so I did get a bit agitated lol. She then set my water on the floor which did remedy the issue but I told her why would I walk up and set my stuff on the dirty floor before I start scanning? I checkout here all the time and it doesn't usually malfunction like that. I finally got to scan my items and the machine locked up on me again as I tried to pay with my card lol so another attendant had to come unlock it for me and surprisingly they didn't give me any attitude. She probably was just having a bad day and I understand but this was definitely my worst experience here ever and I've lived in the area shopping here for almost ten years. The customers before me were checking their receipt and complained to him that he rang up diapers twice, his coworker tries to help and he asks what's wrong, my cashier says "I guess I rang the diapers twice" other employee says "no, you DID ring up the diapers twice"...at the same time the scale on his register isn't working and he's getting frustrated....still mumbling to the person he is talking to on the phone....he calls the manager..and the manager is going to reset the scale, cashier is in his own world and the manager asks him to pay attention on how to reset the scale. Anyway, being on your phone while cashiering is a terrible idea. Had he not been on his phone, he wouldn't have overcharged the customers in front of me and he could have gotten me out of there faster. Shame on you Ralph's! While shopping on Wednesday, 5/15 I was about to leave. All I needed was lotion. I went down the isle of the shampoos (can't remember the number) when I saw a woman bleeding all over the floor at the end of the lane. I asked if she was ok, and what he opens when she communicated one of the items that she reached for sliced her finger. Her hand would not stop bleeding. She kept bleeding all of the floor. Her infant daughter began to cry worried about her mother, ant the treatment she received from the staff was appalling. I advised the front counter of what had occurred. They first sent a female worker from the bakery. Then another Ralphs employee "Yomar" I think her name was gave her an already opened paper towel. They were rude, looked annoyed, didn't offer a first aid kit. Did not sanitized their hands. Began to clean her with alcohol while she twisted in pain. Only filed an incident report after I requested it. And just treated her like a second hand citizens. I'm pretty sure if that had been Oprah Winfrey, Ellen De Generous or Tony Robbins all involved would have treated her different. It was so disappointing to witness. And now apparently the representatives want to give her a "gift card". I am waiting for you Ralph's do do eight by this lady! And if there are any attorneys reading this please private message me.
