PHARMACY Pharmacist thinks he is a doctor! Boo hoo Tells me to "Tell your doctor to...". TRIED TO CHARGE ME OVER DOUBLE for a prescription. And says he is not going to fill my prescriptions after January. He has called mt 3 times in three months to threaten me about not filling my prescriptions and questioning my doctors( more than one dr) abilities. I really have never had a conversation with this sourpuss angry man, so I'm not sure where the discriminatory behavior comes from. I actually had to call the Hillcrest Ralphs pharmacy to have my prescription transferred so that I could be charges the correct amount. Wow stay away. I think that is illegal as well. read more

This Ralph's is very conveniently located in pacific beach. Came here today to grab some light groceries and snacks for our stay nearby. There is an underground parking garage which is pretty spacious. There's an elevator, escalator and stairs to get you up to the store level. Inside, the store is fairly large considering its location. Well stocked and clean. The cashier who attended me was friendly and polite. read more

Found the card section, picked a bday card, found the gift card section (which was massive, a lot to choose from) and narrowed it down to a nice $100 restaurant card. Made sure the restaurant was near their neighborhood! Very convenient, not crowded, efficient cashier. About all you can ask for! read more

This is the most expensive grocery chain in all of San Diego. With that said, you have to bag your own groceries and climb the shelves like a monkey to reach the sparkling water because they literally have shelves that are too high for a normal grown adult to reach with no similar product on a reachable shelf. This is not the mention the resident homeless who hang out on the stairs facing Thomas Ave, and the overwhelming stench of poop along the Thomas Ave side of the building accompanied by filthy hepatitis infused shrubbery and sidewalks. read more

It's not this shop's fault, of course, where it is located, but holy cats it's a risk to drive in and out as well as navigate the parking lot to and from the store!! The parking lots is at odd angles and elevations, and cars zip all around! Also, it appears to be a Brentwood, CA thing, but it seems every grocery store in this town has dogs in every aisle! Not service animals. Pets! It's already tricky navigating through these narrow aisles, but a lady with a giant, curious dog kept catching me off guard and made me super uncomfortable as I'm afraid of dogs. I can handle being near service dogs, because they are more predictable. This dog was not! Are pets allowed in grocery stores here? I was able to find what I needed. Picked up some hot food from the deli, it was ok but both items were overcooked. Fruit selection was very nice. Got some Diet Coke and some snacks too. read more

I do instacart here everyday I see the same employees every night I go in , tonight the late night cashier Jiselle or Jenelle or whatever her name is , the lady with the glasses big forehead and crappy personality , she has a poor customer service & Attitude always annoyed or frustrated with customers for no reason. She gave me a hard time literally for nothing and I hear she gets complaints a lot on her . I am literally always so nice and kind to her and everyone in there every time and she is just a huge pain sometimes . Hopefully she fixes her problem. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at this Ralph's location while returning a defective sunscreen spray on July 11. The cashier, Bexaida M., was extremely impatient and dismissive from the very beginning. She kept questioning our Visa card number, even though the transaction was clearly made via Apple Pay -- which any trained cashier should understand uses a different device number. We were visiting San Diego and only returned the product because it didn't work and had only been used once. Instead of getting help, we were treated with suspicion and attitude. The process took far too long, and her behavior was unprofessional and unkind. I've already submitted a formal complaint to Kroger. Hopefully, this store will improve its customer service, especially toward respectful customers who are simply asking to be treated fairly. read more

Sam forgot what customer service is which is really unacceptable for a "manager". I went to return a candle, in perfect condition, and I didn't have the physical receipt but used my app to pull up my previous visit/purchase history. I had the wrong account pulled up initially and when I attempted to explain that it was the wrong account because I was just at Ralph's, used my phone number, and it was not showing up, he was extremely rude and dismissive, treated me like I was coming off the streets, trying to make up a story. As I was attempting to figure out how to access it, rather than being polite, like a normal person, he pretty much just blew by me and must have had said something to the cashier when he stepped away because once I located my receipt, I approached her looking for him, and apparently she had already been warned about me returning as she knew about this candle, which was pretty ridiculous if you ask me. At no point did he make me feel valued as a returning customer or as a person for that matter. I understand it is in pacific Beach and they might have some weirdos from time to time, but I was completely respectful, despite the fact that he was rude and made me feel like I was some transient person trying to get over on some valentines candles. This is not the level of customer service I've experienced nor would I expect from Ralphs I will be going to Ralph's in La Jolla (where I live) from now on even though this location is closer to my water store. What a jerk and a terrible representation for Ralph's and Kroger as a whole -maybe he was having a bad day but no customer should be treated like that receipt or not. I ordered a custom cake on Monday 5/27/24 for Wednesday 5/29/24 pick up at 11. When I went to pick it up they didn't have an order for it. They went through their order forms and found mine. All the dates were wrong. Eliana did a poor job putting the right information on the form. Luckily they weren't busy so they made it while I waited. I have to say I'm super bummed about the hiccup but they made good on the deal making replacement and gave me a discount. Absolutely insane employee behavior- I'm not one to comment on an employee's attitude/behavior, but this experience was unacceptable and I want to prevent ANYONE from going to this store because this is not a single event. My friend attempted to buy alcohol and after showing her ID AND about to PAY- the attendant asked if we were both of age and asked for my ID. I didn't have it with me and explained that the LAW only requires the person who is paying to show ID. She became upset and sneered "IM THE ONE SELLING THE ALCOHOL. I CAN TAKE IT AWAY OR GIVE IT. DONT TELL ME WHAT TO DO." We were BAFFLED and upset... disturbed even. I said , " But, it's the law...". She then snatched it away from the counter and refused to sell it to my friend. She attempted to buy it in another lane, but the manager also refused! Well Came here before I was heading to Mission Beach and the Parking is under Ground and this Ralph's is fairly big but it does have a self Checkout and I was walking around the Grocery Store kind of lost because I have been to others and this one is kind of confusing but you can find your way around !! It is a typical grocery store for your Grocery needs !! With some special products and the thing that caught my eye was they do carry Krispy Kreme Donuts here !! As I was heading to the register there was a big display with Krispy Kreme Donuts !! One of my favorites !! As for the Service here at this Ralph's It was not to bad but I kind of had to look around for a few minutes before I could find someone to help me !! But as soon as I found someone they would sometimes take me to what I was looking for or they would just point !!! But it was not busy the time I went !! Inside the Ralph's is a small sushi front that a husband and wife have made a lovely quick pick up for lunch or dinner. Many times my favorite roll is the crunchy roll with tempura shrimp & crab has not been made or sold out. All I have to do is request for the roll, do my shopping and return to pick it up, they supply soy sauce and chopsticks. The mere idea of grocery store sushi seems out of the norm but let me say this sweet couple are knocking it out of the ballpark. I wish I had a photo but the sushi roll seldom makes it out of my car before I devour it. While all Ralphs locations offer phenomenal value, the Pacific Beach location truly offers remarkable quality and prices. Throughout the store, there are numerous markdowns in each isle. Customers can save even more money by visiting the Ralphs website and downloading coupons to their store card. Additionally, the Ralphs in Pacific Beach has three large carts of clearance items towards the back of the store. There are always multiple items I find in clearance during each visit. Staff are always friendly and helpful, while also allowing customers to shop in peace. Thanks to numerous check-out lanes and multiple self-checkout machines, the line move relatively quick. I love that I am close to Ralphs and can stop in here late at night or early in the morning to grab whatever I need at a low price! read more

Ralph's in Pacific Beach is my go to store because I am able to park near the beach and shop afterwards. I always find great markdowns on items that are still good. Today the mushrooms, salad, and turkey sausage were all marked down. They have a bright yellow tag. Given it is close to Thanksgiving the fresh green beans and yams were super cheap. I also bought a turkey for about 6 bucks to put in the freezer. I know in a couple months I will be wanting turkey again so will have it in Jan or Feb. I'm not cooking for Thanksgiving this year, so the turkey is going to be in there for when I get that urge in a few months. I'm so happy when I save money and today my bill was 102 and I saved about 97, so it's almost a 50% savings! read more

Prices are mostly pretty good, but they could move some product better if they were priced more appropriately (for example, bacon and cheddar stuffed potato skins were like 20% off... at the end of the "Use by..." date on the package. This was our go-to grocery store while vacationing in Pacific Beach. Ralph's came through on adult beverages and had everything we needed when it came to snacks. The staff was super friendly, even swiping their card for us when we checked out. (We live in the Midwest, so a Ralph's card wasn't really anything we had or wanted to get. I really appreciated their willingness to help so we got a lower price!) We almost always had to self checkout because of the lack of checkout lines. And while we didn't have to park, their underground parking lot looked legit. Pricing was fair (with a card). The selection was great. And they opened at 6AM on the daily, so their hours were convenient. Ralph's is a typical grocery store with above average service and a great location! I'd give it a 3.5 star, but will round it up.
