My goto spot in Statesboro when anyone comes to visit…read more OGreat food expertly prepared, a luscious cocktail menu, desserts that are off the charts, pleasant and helpful staff, and a tremendous bonus to find out that they locally source as many items and ingredients as possible.

We promptly got sat by the lovely staff working. We sat outside, I ordered an Aperol spritz and my husband got a Bloody Mary. All of our drinks were delicious, reasonably priced. The Bloody Mary wasn't spicy (although a table next to us was complaining it was...), and the Hugo spritz was SO refreshing! They for the fresh mint from their herbs out front! Only complaint was we prefer our espresso martinis to be mostly espresso heavy, and this one was more cream heavy. We ordered the Brussels, country breakfast (subbed cheese grits instead of pancakes because we're gluten free) and got a side of fresh fruit. It was so much food. We didn't finish it all! The grits were nicely seasoned and cheesy. Brussels were super crispy and not drenched in grease or sauce. Eggs were nice and salty, potatoes were fried nicely. Everything was great. We would love to come back for lunch or dinner - especially happy hour. It wasn't too loud and we felt there was plenty of seating.

Carole and I enjoyed lunch at the Beaver House Restaurant in Statesboro. The exterior is in very…read morepoor condition, needs painting and some new timbers on porches, ramps and rails; but the inside of the old mansion is lovely. Built in 1914, the grandson of original house builder, still cooks in the restaurant. We especially loved the baked mac-n-cheese, lima beans, ham and fried chicken. Very reasonably priced all-you-can-eat at $12,50 family style, we loved eeverything. We were there right at the 11 AM opening, so I took lots of pics the dining areas, so beautiful. The waittress was very attentive and took excellent care of us. If the owners would scrape and paint the exterior I would gladly have given it 5 stars.

We were the first party in there for dinner and were seated in one of the many dining rooms in front of a window overlooking the porch. Shortly after being seated and getting our drinks we were served our dinner family style. We had dishes with fried chicken and barbecue chicken, black eyed peas, cabbage, mashed potatoes, gravy and biscuits. Everything was good, but nothing was particularly special. It was a good meal and a good price. Our service was excellent and we were quickly offered refills on anything we finished. The star was definitely the ambiance, it was such a beautiful old building!! I will definitely visit on my next visit!!!

The food is more or less what you would expect. The service is questionable. When the waitress…read morestarts to suggest changes to your order, ie, salad instead of fries, more chips & salsa - they should also tell you that there is a charge for it. I had a mushroom cheese quesadillas & it came with chips & salsa. Since the person I was with was also eating the chips & salsa I asked for more. No problem until we got the bill. The "suggestions" cost extra, and we were charged for the additional chips and salsa. If that's their policy okay, but please let the diners know ahead of time. Also, my quesadilla consisted of 3 pieces. Every other place I've ordered one there were 6 pieces & I took 3 home for the next day. Also, I'm considered tiny - 4'11", about 108# & 3 pieces was not enough food.

Drove past this place many times the past few years during visits back to GSU. Looked more like a…read moretypical college student hangout so opted to not stop in. Most recent trip a lady at the GSU football game recommended it. Me and my two alumni buds opted to check out. It has a decent outdoor area and an interior that reminds me of Taco Mac. Atmosphere was good and our server was great. The Buffalo chicken artichoke dip with points was the only thing I enjoyed food-wise. The fried green tomatoes weren't really seasoned and the tequila lime chicken sammie wasn't anything to write about. Ordinary. I guess if you're a college student, this place will suffice for price, food proportions and atmosphere. I do like it's not a chain and always want to support local. Average, however. Maybe I need to try a different menu item ...

Anna gave us some brief detail about the menu such as what's in Corn Maque Choux and made a suggestion about which cocktail was for dessert. Another big plus (especially here in the Boro) is the manager visited every table. Big points for all three minus the one that was supposed to be our waitress. Ambiance/Decor: It's a diner so it's a bit loud. But it was comfortable, this is Statesboro and I was still in my gym clothes so it was enjoyable. Cute bar. But I do wish for more noise softening. Food n drink: Nice cocktail list and robust for a small place. Grasshopper cocktail was good and perfect for after dinner cocktail. Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer was very good. Pasta Jambalaya was very good. I wasn't a fan of Fish Platter that I requested to be blackened. It was way too blackened in my opinion. The sides seemed over processed but I ate most of it.
