Once I tested the paint I decided to use a different brand and went to return the unopened unused paint and they wouldn't allow me to. I'm sure the salesperson works on commission and tricked me into purchasing more than just a sample size knowing I couldn't return the rest. I spoke to the store manager and owner and they said "sorry, we will not do anything to help you". Obviously I wanted my money back but said I would take a store credit and still they wouldn't help me. I was pregnant with 2 toddlers so they knew I didn't have all day to stand and argue. They saw me walk in with the item and it had the store tags on it, but the refused to remove the security tag without the receipt. I get it if that is the policy...but the way I was treated for asking was ridiculous. This older woman employee/manager (I should have looked at her name tag but I was so surprised and appalled that I didn't think of it) was rudely asked "what do you need?" She was aggressive and nasty, and it was shocking. She told me to call the home office, and I asked for the number she lunged at the register, slammed the buttons, ripped off the receipt paper and practically threw it at me. I was calm and did not raise my voice at all. I did tell her I was going to write a terrible review - and this is the second one I have written. I am not typically a person who writes a review either. Apparently Spencer's is fine to take my money, but they don't have to be responsible for their employee forgetting to take the security tag off when they sell the item. Bravo Spencer's! I suggest you invest in some training for your staff. Customer service and otherwise. Also - thank you to the young lady who offered to get her manager - when I didn't even ask. A combination of a rougher clientele and the fact that so many people shop online. But they still have the stuff that used to have the naughty cards posters, love toys, paraphernalia if you smoke pot, shot glasses, piercings. They had a lot of backpacks as you first came in I don't remember them having backpacks back in the day. Pretty much the only reason we'd go in there if we were looking for a funny birthday card.
