Raku Sushi is located by the Willow Rock Plaza in Roseville with a huge parking space available. We've been eyeing Raku for the longest time now. Finally came in on a Sunday during lunch time shortly after they opened and we got seated right away. Their concept is fresh AYCE sushi for decent pricing. Although limited menu options, it was still pretty good. Raku serves fresh, delicious sushi including rolls and nigiri, salad bar with edamame and cucumbers. The space is very clean and inviting. Staff are efficient, attentive and friendly. Reservations are available through Yelp but better to arrive early while it's not packed. We had edamame, spicy cucumber and seaweed from the salad bar. Our server took our 1st round of orders and so on. We had deep fried oysters, katsu, tempura. Rolls like the spider, volcano, capitol, dragon, rainbow and crazy. Helped ourselves with more rainbow and spider roll as both were good. We also hd a sampling of fried bananas (this 1 I liked) and donuts (I didn't care for this). Started with deep fried items like the katsu, oysters and tempura then went to consuming rolls like the volcano, spider, capitol, crazy, dragon and rainbow. I had an order of the hamachi nigiri and a sampling of deep fried bananas and a donut for dessert but we didn't care for them. Servers were fast and very attentive. The price point is decent. The worst customer service I've ever experienced. I checked in at the kiosk at 6:30 to meet a date at 6:45. It was busy, but not extremely busy. The wait list said 10-12 minutes and I didn't get a text the whole time I was sitting. My date arrived and we waited for 10 minutes watching people come and go, and not one person even acknowledged that we were there. I stood up and seen an open table so I flagged someone down and had to go ask them if we could sit down. So at 7:00 we had finally got a seat and the waitress didn't get to us for another 15 minutes. Luckily, we were having a GREAT conversation or normally I would have left. So the waitress gets to us and takes our order and another 10 minute goes by where I can literally see our order sitting and not being brought to us. We order Sake and Beer and that helped us kill some of the time. We did Sake bombs and when I asked for another cup for another sake bomb, the waitress looked at me as if she had no idea what a sake bomb was and why we would need another glass. It was the most bizarre experience, however the food was Great but overshadowed by TERRIBLE service. Came here early on a Saturday for dinner and had a great experience. They have separate lunch and dinner menus, and the dinner option includes hand rolls. The hand rolls were tasty and loaded. I tried the tuna, unagi, and salmon skin, and each one was fresh and flavorful. The rolls were also solid, with the Firebird and 49ers being personal favorites. Everything came out quickly, and the staff was attentive, checking in on us regularly. I also loved the small salad bar on the side. For $31 for all-you-can-eat dinner, this place is not pricey at all for the quality and variety you get. Definitely worth it and would come back again! You can order anything from both the lunch and dinner menu. The only thing not listed on the menu is the tempura ice cream dessert (strawberry)! Salad bar is self-serve and has edamame, cucumber, slaw, orange slices, wasabi, ginger, and I think a dipping sauce for gyoza? Miso soup, gyoza, tempura, oysters, etc. I usually skip the hand rolls. Fastest pit stop over on our way to Tahoe after getting gas at Costco across the street. I called ahead to see if I could order takeout and then asked if we could eat it quickly here because kids eat better at a table. The hostess accommodated us and I like the all you can eat concept for the next time we pass through here. Came in around 5:30 on a Thursday we were seated immediately & with such great service this has to be the BEST all you can eat sushi it was $31.99 per person & everything was 100% fresh. There was not a single bad item that we had they were accommodating with all of our requests. The temporary was light and crispy. The Gyoza was fresh and just tasted better than any I've had before I had the sake or salmon nigiri, and that was delicious, it was not fishy It was not slimy It was perfect. I love this place so much! It's our go-to for a night out or when people come to town, and we've never had a bad experience even after coming here like 10 times. When we want to throw down on a ton of delicious sushi, we drop everything and drive the 45 minutesish from our place to here without hesitation. I recently visited during lunch hours for the first time and was pleasantly surprised at their really reasonable AYCE lunch prices! The selection is smaller than dinner but it still had 90% of my faves on it! Can't wait to come back. I've always had amazing service here. Notably, we dropped in super late once, not realizing that time had gotten away from us, and they were only like 10 minutes from the kitchen's closing time! We ordered gyoza, California rolls, crunchy California rolls, Alaskan roll, Philly roll, shrimp tempura roll, honey walnut roll, Lion King roll, and Firebird roll. Everything was fresh and tasty. The inside had a decent amount of seating options and was spacious. It was clean and inviting. The customer service was just okay--not terrible, but not great either. Drink refills took quite a while, and it was a bit of a wait to get more food ordered. One frustrating part was being charged the full adult price for our 10-year-old, who barely ate anything. My favorite thing to get is nigiri (saba, magiro, sake, hamachi). Some of my favorite rolls are the Volcano (deep fried with tuna, jalapenos, crab salad), and Phoenix (shrimp tempura soft shell crab masago). They have three different desserts and sometimes I opt for the fried bananas with powdered sugar. If you have a hankering for good quality sushi, look no further than this place. The service was only a 3/5, however we came on Mother's Day and there was a huge group that came, so perhaps it was busier than normal. Due to that, I believe it may have been a bit chaotic and less organized. We are willing to try them again during a more average time to see. But in general, the place was good. It didn't have much decoration but it at least didn't smell fishy in the restaurant. I'm very sensitive to that smell, so I'm glad they smelled fresh. The salmon was fresh and tender .. lots of flavor. My Edamame was crunchy and tasty. The Red Dragon was remarkably good (shrimp tempura, cucumber topped with tuna, avocado and spicy mayo). My wife and I have been coming here for over a decade, it's where I first tried sushi, we frequently visit with friends and family, we even counted the days between the location moves waiting to get back to our favorite casual sushi spot. We got to recognize the staff and them us, they watched my family grow from my wife and I dating two a married family of 4. Ever since they moved locations the vibe has changed, but tonight my kids were told they can't have oranges or edamame when my wife and I have been getting them a bento box, and her and I AYCE for years with absolutely no issues with the kids. We've always tipped well, been respectful and friendly and thought we had built a friendly relationship with the staff. The kids have rven brought Happy Meals when they didn't want a bento box but we needed our Harbor Roll fix and there was no issue with them eating an orange or two, some edamame and a sesame ball. We got AYCE and IMMEDILATELY our stomachs hurt after eating. We've never been so nauseous after eating sushi. For the record we LOVE sushi, so this isn't the first time we've had it. But we were very very close to throwing up. We also didn't eat that much or that quickly either. I don't recommend the miso soup because I thought it would ease my stomachache but it made it worse.
