I have never been to Cane's before, I know weird, when everyone I work with eats it all the time! But after a long day and going to another restaurant where we weren't even acknowledged for 10 minutes and walking out, walking into Cane's was refreshing. We were greeted with a warm welcome and smiles as soon as we opened the door. The cashier took great care of us. And our food was ready before we were even done filling our drinks. And filling them with the "good ice," you know what I'm talking about. Our chicken and fries were hot, fresh, delicious and hit the spot! And I will admit that sauce is pretty darn good. Both kids gave thumbs up on their kids meals. They had Tim McGraw on the loud speaker and some great posters and film art on the walls. The bathroom was also clean and on my approved list. If it was socially acceptable and less deep fried, I would eat at Raising Cane's everyday. The chicken fingers are crispy perfection. The toast is just plain delicious. The crinkle cut fries are addictive. And, GIRL--let me tell you about that Cane's sauce. So damn good. I always order an extra sauce with a box combo and it is finger lickin' good. First time trying this chicken tender restaurant, even though I'm from Baton Rouge, where most of the stores originated from, from two LSU students (my alma mater). This Schertz location is clean and spotless. The design inside is modern with industrial exposed AC ducts, nice lighting, dimly lit, with aluminum chairs, booths, and a wall bar for eating at the windows. We got one of the 4 combos. Our combo for two was 6 tenders, fries, cole slaw, and a 32 oz drink; we chose some of their excellent tea. The tea is so sweet that I mixed 50/50 sweet to non sweet. The tea is unlimited in the lobby and was smooth, light, and refreshing. The tenders were very moist, fried lightly, and had a perfect batter with spices. The secret cane sauce was too spicy (black pepper not red pepper) for me, and it really wasn't all that. I heard they also make in house a honey mustard sauce for the tenders, but you have to ask for it. I think I will try this sauce next over the house cane sauce. They have kids meals also. Deciding whether to go to Cane's is easy if you think about it. You either feel like chicken fingers or you don't. And this being my first visit I was puzzled how fingers can be the chain's staple. Well, they're awesome, that's how! These are essentially perfectly breaded, small pieces of chicken. All white meat mind you, but actual meat. This isn't processed chicken or nuggets but rather breast meat and tenders. And big fingers at that. I ordered the Caniac combo with 6 fingers, 2 dips, crinkle cut fries, creamy coleslaw, and Texas toast. All incredibly delicious and without a doubt the best and most substantial chicken fingers I've ever had. The dipping sauce is an interesting combination of common dips you might get elsewhere. I'd say the closest comparison is a combination of Buffalo chicken and ranch from Wendy's but Cane's is even broader than that. Not spicy but with a wide mix of flavors. It's an ideal dip. The decor is modern and clean with new, upbeat music playing. The staff is welcoming and VERY service oriented. I don't get it. For years I've heard people's raves of Raising Cane's chicken tenders and the ever popular Cane's sauce. Let me just say, it didn't blow me away. The tenders were just simply okay. I thought they were on the dry side and the batter was too thick for me. When it comes to fast food chicken tenders, I prefer Chicken Express, Bush's, or Golden Chick's moist and flaky tenders over these. They are very meaty though, which might be why people like them, since the fried batter doesn't overpower the white meat itself. Service was friendly, except for the weird "Chicken, chicken watcha pickin'?!" greeting at the drive through. Over the top to say the least. As a sweet tea expert, I vouch for theirs and will place it at the top of sweet tea list. It's strong, pure sugar, but still not so sweet that it gives you a headache and just tastes like sugar water. There's still a robust sunshiny tea flavor coming through. So, my first experience with Raising Cane's was in Lubbock, Texas and I was an instant fan. I had been driving all day from Colorado and the delicious food from Cane's was very satisfying. When I realized there was also a Cane's in Schertz, TX (near our home) I knew we would be paying them a visit. We went about 4 PM and it was very quiet inside. We walked right up and placed an order and it was to our table within 5 minutes or so. The sweet tea was delicious. The chicken fingers were hot and crispy and perfectly done. The special sauce wasn't quite as special as I remembered from the other location but still tasty. We ordered the box meal and it comes with a drink, 4 chicken fingers, a piece of texas toast, crinkled fries, a container of special sauce and a container of coleslaw.
