This place is GREAT. I echo so many of the positive comments I see below. Very flavorful Korean street food. The bulgogi is solid and the wings are out of this world (any of the chicken) for that matter. I've tried a bunch of the apps-- the cheesy corn is a great starter. Service is fast and it's a great little sit down restaurant!

I was very excited to try Rainpia since it was recommended by a local. Made it to the restaurant around 6:30 PM on a Friday, and there was already a waitlist for the booths. There is also a large table in the middle which does not require any waiting. It's great that they have these options based on your preference and availability. We were seated in around 45 minutes at this large/comfy booth. The restaurant has a cool homey vibe with so much space, friendly servers and guests just seem to be having a great time. We ordered Tteokbokki and Spicy Fried Chicken along with some Soju. For spice level, we picked 2 out of 4. I am a person with high spice tolerance and this was right at my upper limit-I wouldn't recommend a higher level unless you enjoy playing with fire. Unfortunately, the food in general was a little disappointing. Nothing terrible but I guess I've had better korean food in the area. Our servers were very sweet; they made a mistake with the bill but fixed it even before we notified them and apologized very nicely. I'd consider going here to catch up with a large group of friends to enjoy the cool homey vibes, but can't really recommend it just for the food.

Rainpia is a go-to if you're craving Korean food late at night. In Howard County, where everything else seems to close by 7 PM to accommodate families, this place is a much-needed option. The menu is solid, and I usually go for the boiled pork belly--it's tender, flavorful, and pairs perfectly with the banchan. The downside? It's loud. Rainpia is clearly a hotspot for the college crowd, and they bring the energy. Expect lots of laughter, chatter, and a generally rowdy vibe. The seating setup doesn't do much to help--it's tight and awkward, so you're right in the mix whether you like it or not. Still, the late hours and reliably good food make it worth the trip. Just don't come here for a quiet night out--this is more of a lively, eat-and-enjoy kind of spot. Four stars for keeping the pork belly coming when the rest of Howard County is asleep!

I love coming back here with big parties and just eating everything. I swear we never have enough food or table space. I feel like the waiters were like insisting we wouldn't finish our food, but then it was not enough at all.

Ordered take out to satisfy pregnancy cravings & chefs did not disappoint! We ordered: seafood pancake & spicy fried chicken (spice level 1) Easy in & out; order was ready on time, checkout staff was super friendly, items were correct & well boxed. Just as I remembered it, the seafood pancake was perfection- hearty chunks of seafood diced up & amply stuffed within a juicy, well-seasoned dough- crispy flakey on the outside, moist fluffy on the inside- with a bold flavored dipping sauce (but barely used the sauce because the combination of the seafood flavors alone were super delicious) The spicy fried chicken dish was massive! Even with the two of us sharing, the dish was easily two meals- the chicken was thickly breaded in a sticky sweet but spicy sauce with moist meat inside- even with the amount of breading outside, they were very hearty pieces-good quality eats Another delicious visit, can't wait to keep running through the menu & indulging on more seafood pancake.

Did I just find my new favorite Korean restaurant?!? One of my fav influencers spoke highly of this place so I had to try it. Lots of parking in the lot and when we arrived on a Saturday night at 7, it wasn't crowded. We had a nice big table to ourselves and we're told to ring the buzzer on the table when we were ready. There are about 8 large tables on the sides of the restaurant and then a long table with more communal type seating in the middle. When we got there, there were plenty of tables but they quickly filled up. My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach! We started with the Korean rice balls with bulgogi filling-10/10 absolutely delicious. I would return for just these alone, but the good food kept coming. I loved the spicy tteokbokki with ramen! So spicy and delicious, it's one of my fav Korean dishes and this was so well made. Next we had friend chicken in sauce. They were good, but I couldn't necessarily name the part of the chicken I was eating for the three pieces I had. We ordered the yogurt soju cocktail and it was delicious-though arrived about midway through our meal. I loved the cocktail-it was enough for two people and stayed icy and refreshing until we finished it. I can't wait to go back and try some new dishes!

Hole in the wall. Food was delicious. From the Korean fried chicken, to the pork feet, to the tofu. It was all so yummy! Very flavorful. There were only 1 server. But my gosh he worked!! He got everything we needed and it was pretty packed as well. Great place. Service was fast and great! Def recommend!!

this is a good place to hang out w friends over drinks & korean apps! I've been here twice and it's always very lively and packed. luckily both times we didn't have to wait for a table but as the night went on the place got more packed (I'd recommend getting there by 10)! the food is good. nothing really special and prices can be steep for what you order, but I think people really come here for the vibes and the atmosphere. my friends and I enjoy drinking "milkis shots" which is a 1:1:1 ratio of soju, beer, and sprite! once mixed/shaken, it has a surprisingly creamy taste. the service here is v quick and the workers seem nice. I've never interacted with them for too long but they are continuously walking around so you can order things quickly!

A perfect late night spot to hang with friends in EC (they close at 2!). We often get food and drinks to share for the table, which goes very well with soju. My personal favorite is the tuna rice balls (not pictured), but we also got fried chicken and spicy rice cakes. The batter used for this chicken is slightly on the softer side, unfortunately not the best I had. Service: it is a busy spot so it is sometimes hard to get their attention, but there is always a button for it.

Among the various Korean establishments down the route 40 strip, Rainpia would be considered a low-key comfort food cafe. Lined with wooden floors and walls, the restaurant feels very warm and inviting the minute you walk in. Down the middle of the restaurant is a long counter with stools on each side The fried chicken is the main attraction here but there are plenty of of other comfort food too. personally like their kimchi pancake the most but the seafood is a close second. This is a great option for Korean food if you're hankering for simple comfort food and a cozy spot to drink and hang out with friends/family. I'll be coming back for more!

    Half & Half Chicken, $23.95 (3.8.22)

3.8.22 This was one of the Korean restaurants in Ellicott City on my list to try. The restaurant is in a Korean shopping center. They do not have an exit directly onto Baltimore National Pike. You have to go around the back of the shopping center onto a side road to get onto the Pike. It's smaller than other Korean restaurants I've been to. There was one long table in the center of the restaurant with approx. 8 chairs on each side and five booths on each side of the long table. They conveniently have a call button at each booth if you need service. My husband didn't know and pressed the button, which startled us. We started by placing an order for the Seafood Pancake. The octopus was more intact whereas at other restaurants it was chopped or were more fine. We placed our entree orders and were given cabbage salad and pickled daikon for the banchan (small side dishes). I got the Half & Half Chicken. I recommend the Original Fried Chicken. It was piping hot and extra crispy. The other half I got with the Signature Sweet Sauce. At first I thought it was ok, but after awhile it grew on me and I enjoyed the flavor. It was hard to decipher between the breast and thighs. They both looked equivalent in size and shape. My husband got the Korean Style Hot Wings and thought it good, however, later in the evening he had indigestion. The chicken and chicken wings were slathered in sauce unlike at BonChon. See the photo of my husband's hands. Since it's very saucy, it would be nice if they provided larger napkins or towelette wipes. Overall, I would rate it a 3.5. Chicken was good, but I prefer chicken at other Korean restaurants. It was a bit pricier, but the portion is generous.

Boneless Fried Chicken with Green Onions
    Julie K.

Would definitely recommend for social drinking or small casual get togethers! Not a ton of seating is available. I can imagine how busy it might be in evenings. Couple of booths lined on the sides and then a long island table in the middle. Love the elevated booths with floral decor though, super cute. More of a bar or lively environment with dim lights. WHAT I ORDERED: Seafood Pancake (appetizer) [3/5] - I really didn't love this. The texture was quite chewy like rice cake and gluten-y. I love a super crispy seafood pancake. but it did have lots of small chunks of seafood which I appreciate. Also still had a good flavor. But I'm huge on texture so a bit picky. Boneless Fried Chicken with Green Onion [5/5] The meat, ugh take my credit card. It was so good and crispy. Got the hot level and wow it was really hot. I thought that the spice would go into the sweet sauce, which we decided not to pour on top. I think there were jalapeños in the fried batter for the meat though. It was just too spicy for me. But good pain. I loved every bite. I didn't really use the sauce. The fried chicken was good enough. It is nothing like the fried chicken you'd just buy from KFC or Popeyes. It's very different! So keep this in mind when ordering.

Apparently the tavern is connected to but not owned by the same folks at the brewery. It's also seemingly one of the only spots in town that's open seven days a week. Finding parking was surprisingly difficult on a Sunday night, but I circled around until I found a spot. The place seemed pretty packed, with folks waiting for tables, but since I was just there for the beer, I was sent upstairs to the bar. A couple of really nice bartenders were on duty and helped me right away. I got an amber beer which went down smooth, and I opted to get a pizza too. Heads up: If you're vegan you can basically sub out any pizza for a vegan option, but be certain to ask about ingredients, as no one pointed out the white sauce isn't vegan until I asked. I like spice and smokiness, so I opted for the Holy Smoke -- Alabama White BBQ, Tavern Blend Cheese, Cheddar, Smoky BBQ Sauce, Pulled Chicken, Pickled Jalapeños, Corn, Hardwood Smoke -- according to the menu. The pizza came out super quickly and it smelled like a campfire... in a really good way. The pizza was tasty and the crust was also realllly good. I ate half of it and took the other half to go, which ended up being another meal. And I can confirm it tastes good cold too! I'd definitely come back here, particularly on a warm day when the patio is open (it was raining pretty hard when I was there, so sadly, no outdoor seating). The people are super friendly and the menu definitely has a lot of options. If you're in Ellicott City, put it on your list!

In retrospect, I don't know that I would've ordered the garlic bread because I was expecting more of a garlic breadstick situation instead of a sauceless cheese pizza, but that's more of my own fault for not looking at any pictures first. We seated ourselves and the server came over promptly to take our drink orders while we perused the menu. The offerings are simple - a few appetizers, salads, and a wide variety of personal sized pizzas with numerous topping combinations. Our drinks arrived quickly we placed our order. My friend tried one of their craft beer offerings, Black Dog, listed as an Irish Stout, and mentioned it was good, but probably not memorable, lacking a depth and smoothness when compared to the classic Guiness, but drinkable and for a local product it was better than most craft brewery attempts at stout varieties.   We chose to split a Caesar's salad and chose the Spinach Pizza and Dog Pound Pizza for our main course. As we waited, numerous other staff came by to check on us verging on the edge of being annoying. While friendly in their approach, it seemed like a bit of overkill considering we had our drinks and were waiting for our pizzas. The place was less than half full, so they were probably just trying to be attentive and friendly. The salad and Dog Pound Pizza arrived soon after but there was no sign of my Spinach Pizza. If you'd like the salad before the pizza, I'd suggest you let them know in advance. After a few minutes we mentioned it to one of the servers checking on us, they went to check and returned saying it would be another 5 minutes or so - I think they forgot when they put the order into the kitchen.   The salad portion was quite large and was quite good for a Caesar salad and frankly, better than a lot of fancier establishments, plus there was enough for leftovers. We were a little disappointed with the pizzas themselves. The toppings were plentiful, maybe to a fault, and tasty but there was something lacking. For a specialty pizza place I would have expected a better crust - for both pizzas it was a bit soggy and difficult to lift off the plate for a proper bite. We ended up eating with a fork. Heartier appetites would finish the individually sized pizzas, but we had enough to take home for lunch the next day.   The atmosphere is sports bar like; the service prompt, courteous, and maybe a bit over-attentive; the portions and toppings generous; the price is extremely fair - a decent choice if you're in the neighborhood, but not quite a foodie destination establishment unless perhaps you're a beer enthusiast.
