I recently revisited K Pocha and was blown away by how much this spot has transformed under new management! The food tastes better than ever and I discovered something that made my night out with friends even more memorable... I had no idea they ever offered private karaoke rooms! It truly feels like this spot has been given a fresh start and the difference in both food and overall vibe is amazing. From the moment you walk in, it feels like you're instantly transported to a classic pocha in Korea with bright, colorful LED signs and comfortable booth and table seating. For dinner, we ordered 4 entrees to share (ranging between $20-30) and a side of honey butter fries. Fun fact, K Pocha imports the honey butter powder directly from Korea and those fries were SO deliciously addicting and crispy. Definitely a must try item that I'll be getting repeatedly! My favorite dishes of the night were the spicy rice cakes and half/half fried chicken. The chicken was super crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside. The spicy rice cakes?! These were actually the best I've had, their sauce tastes different than any other Korean spot I've been to. It had such a unique depth of flavor that I absolutely loved!   The private karaoke rooms elevated my experience. They're nice and cozy and I was impressed by the sound system. The music is loud and clear and my friends had a blast! We also had such kind service and were able to get our food nearly right away and delivered directly into the karaoke room! It was awesome! Showed up on a random Wednesday evening around 10PM with my group of friends after dance class. Colorful dim lights with neon signs did remind me of the pocha vibe. I would give the staff a 6/5 stars as they were super nice and courteous with us taking a long time to order. We ordered the budae jigae, fried gyoza, and the half and half fried chicken. Everything was made fresh and I was pleasantly surprised at all the sides that came with the meals. The jigae had all the ingredients you'd expect like spam, hot dog, tofu, rice cake, and green onion. I appreciated how it wasn't too spicy. None of the dishes were. The fried chicken was a light on the batter and was not glistening with grease like some fried chicken. I would recommend the garlic soy next time as the sweet and spicy was a bit bland. Lastly, the gyoza came with a fun spicy apple cabbage slaw. This was something new I'd never had so I was excited to try it! The waiter was so nice and even provided "service" (free item) of their new honey butter fries that she said was her favorite. It tasted exactly like the honey butter chips from the store. Aside from K-Pocha, there is another Korean restaurant, Vietnamese, Thai and a large Korean grocery store. I ordered fried dumplings to start, which were crispy and delicious, but it was the unique mini sides of kimchi, pickled veggies, glazed soy beans and spinach with cheese that took it to the next level (make sure you get the free side). I ordered the bbq chicken with cheese. This ate like a spicy chicken parm only it wasn't fried. I thought it would be, but still good. When I walked in, the lightning was dark with somewhat loud "club" music. Not typically my scene, but it grew on me as the night wore on. K-Pocha reminds me of an attempt to merge a traditional sit down Asain restaurant, with a cluby vibe - a strange but interesting combo. They aired pro golf in combination with Korean pop/rap music videos on another TV. It was different but a fun mix. You will spend roughly 35+per person. We were actually heading to try Viet Pearl at 8:30 on a Sunday evening but turned out it was closed. Saw that K Pocha was next door and had solid reviews. Very unassuming from the outside sitting in a strip mall next to Lotte grocery. Inside has a nice asian pub feel, with k pop playing on the multiple lcd screens. Greeted by friendly staff and was attentive to our needs. We shared 3 dishes: *Brisket w/ green onion "salad." -- my favorite. *Spicy, cheesy seafood tteokbokki. -- liked by all. *Kimchi stew w/ rice cakes. --family favorite Portions are generous and seasoned very well. Prices are reasonable too. Did I mention you can hit this place up until midnight on most nights and 1am Friday and Saturday, Closed Tuesdays Would love to come back and try the various chicken offerings and grab a beer/soju with a bunch of friends/family. Went late night after a concert. This place was opened and we wanted to try something new. We weren't sure what to order but hot damn , we killed that seafood Ddukbokki. The flavor was so good. So after a few minutes of yelping, decided to check out this place in Columbia, MD. This is a quaint little restaurant that serves up good bar food. I was being lazy tonight, so I ordered the boneless soy garlic chicken bites and seafood tteokbokki dish. I really liked the bite sized chicken. Though it was white meat, the dish is still juicy snd very much crunchy and flavorful. Breading was kept at a minimum, therefore every bite was more chicken! On to the tteokbokki dish. As I'm not an expert at what is good or traditional tteokbokki, I can only tell you I really enjoyed this dish! The ingredients consisted of muscles, octopus, and fish cakes. It was like eating the selective sea mixed with chewy rice cakes (love chewy!), stringy melted mozzarella, and a sweet spicy red sauce. It's my trinity of flavor town (savory, sweet, and spicy). This place feels so hip and casual! I love the atmosphere! Came here for a date and there's good music/decent volume that it just gets you in a happy mood. The chicken was really good. We got the half fried chicken, half soy garlic chicken and I appreciated that the soy garlic chicken actually had a lot of marinade on it rather than small dollops here and there. Also who doesn't like fried chicken and beer? Oh, the beer came in a pitcher which was of course just awesome to have that supply of beer right there ready for you. People come here to enjoy the food but also to drink and stay a while. I would say that this hole in the wall is the closest you can get here in MD to resemble a bar in ktown in LA. We got the cheese dduk bbokki (spicy rice cakes), Korean fried chicken (half spicy and half regular), mussel soup, and fried chicken gizzard. It's all perfect food to pair with some Soju and Korean beer and they have Karaoke rooms! We'll definitely be going back when we're craving some Korean soul food. The food was good but I can't say that there were any standout dishes that would make me say "wow, I've got to come back here again." The dish comes out with what looks like a large baking pan on a portable stove. The pot consists of a wide variety of veggies, some clams, mussels, and fish cakes. The broth was red and reminded me of jjamppong. However, there were minimal flavors coming from this dish. From the veggies all the way to the seafood, it was lacking in taste and flavor. It was as if they took the ingredients and boiled it in water and then added the red soup. We were also surprises that this dish did not come with rice. Not a lot of veggie or dough flakes. The waitress said it can feed 3 ppl. Even though the dish seemed big, its really not a lot. my girlfriend and I were still hungry which leads us to talk about the cheese fries. The cheese fries were delicious. It was basically covered in melted cheese and bacon bites. The portion itself was satisfying for an appetizer. This cheese fries were definitely worth reordering because of how tasty it was. The overall experience was really a 3.5/5 but I could only rate a 3 or 4. Ever since my trip to Korea this summer, ive been hunting for a good chicken place. And this place was fairly new (8months), so why not? 4 stars for food 2.5 stars for service = overall 3 stars It's a little common in Korean places to have a different kind of service for some reason, but when we walked in and was shown to our table, the waiter didn't offer us water until we asked after we ordered. However, when we asked if we can have rice cake added to our chicken they said yes, which we were happy about. Food came, onion rings and boneless chicken sweet and spicy sauce with rice cakes. The chicken was great. I liked the taste and sauce was good. The portion is kind of small though compared to other chicken places around here for the price. Onion rings were good also. However, we weren't offered any water again throughout our dining experience even though both of us were out of water. You kind of have to ask for everything, which is how this restaurant runs I guess. So if that's your feel, go ahead. I have to recommend the gizzards if you're drinking beer all night. It's a perfect match! A big thing back in Korea that they also have is the flavored Makgeolli (Korean rice wine). This is one of those late-night-other-than-honey-pig Korean restaurants on Rt. 40 that stays open past midnight. Actually, it's just 1 of 2 (the other being Kogiyaki). Much like the dives you might find in some parts of Seoul, K Pocha (as per the name) buys into the bar and food culture that many people enjoy. Their food is extremely comforting, with spicy fried chicken and other normal bar items like onion rings, fries, and mozarella sticks, as well as a great selection of ethanol things. However, price is where it starts to make everything go downhill. We had the onion rings, which, was a decent price but then moved on to the fried chicken. For $18, you get a small plate with enough (I guess) pieces to feel decently satisfied, but in no way compares to the massive platter served at Kogiyaki. I personally didn't enjoy the flavor as much either. Seating is extremely limited with only several booths but they do have rooms in the back for Karaoke. We didn't try it, but if you are daring you could definitely swing around back after a couple bottles of Chamisul. I wouldn't come here unless I (or the Ms.) wanted a late night bite to eat. For all other purposes, Kogiyaki still reigns supreme. read more

This review is really over due. We came here for dinner in early August. We ordered sweet and spicy boneless chicken bits, kimchi pancakes, and 70's style Benton box. The chicken was marinated well and cooked well. The sauce was sweeter than Bon Chin's but still comparable.
