TerraFirma - Ryan Beckley, Owner and president of TerraFirma Foundation Systems

TerraFirma

***Please note -- I updated my review from 1 to 5 stars. Terra Firma took the initiative to reach…read moreout and assess any next steps needed to correct the problem. Trust is 100% restored knowing that if problems come up they will take any action needed to follow up. I will also say that the work they originally did was actually to code, and we agreed that the moisture problems arose due to the nonstandard setup of my dehumidifier, NOT because of errors in Terra Firma's work. Thank you Terra Firma.*** Unfortunately, I have to drop a negative review in the interest of warning other folks that their work has gone downhill. I previously had an excellent experience with Terra Firma for management of a water problem in my crawlspace. I hired them without question again for my current property for management of moisture issues, and I didn't check their work upon completion as thoroughly as I should have. Unfortunately, about 1 - 2 months after completion of work, I discovered a large mushroom growing out of one of the structural posts in my crawl/basement. On closer inspection, I noticed that the dehumidifier water discharge line they installed was dumping less than a foot away from my foundation, corresponding to the exact spot the mushroom was growing. Moisture was the exact problem they were supposed to fix, but now they have created a severe structural problem secondary to moisture with the dehumidifier line dumping large quantities of water right next to my foundation. In other words, they created the exact issue they were purporting to fix by collecting the moisture and depositing it into my foundation. Once fruiting bodies are growing out of wood, this is an indicator that the wood is severely compromised and the fungus network has grown extensively. I now have a very expensive and serious problem to fix. I called to let them know about the problem, not sure if I will hear back from the coordinator/ the team who did the work. I am not sure if I would trust them to fix the issue after the damage they have caused, but I would accept financial remediation. If they take steps to make things right, I would update my review. I would not hire Terra Firma again for any crawlspace work, be it structural or moisture related because of the big problem they have caused. Again, just would like to warn others.

DISCLAIMER: I did not use their installation or repair services. This review is about their…read moreestimation process and sales tactics. Their tech, Noah, was pushy with his proposals. He wasted time by having me watch a video of their process, and attempted to get me to agree to a proposal the day of - estimates running in the $15k-$50k ranges. Their estimates came in higher than their competitors by about $5k including Groundworks. When I informed him that I would not be using their services, he replied with, "What are your plans for your sagging floors? How do you plan to address this?" I have met with many contractors on this same issue, and no one else aside from Groundworks and TerraFirma has attempted to blow our issues out of proportion. However, Noah did offer to do a side by side comparison of the other offers with his, which I did not take. I ungraciously assumed it wouldn't have been attempt to price match, but to take another opportunity to push me more on his proposals. Don't use them, if you want to avoid fear mongering and overpriced services.

100% satisfaction! I recently needed a new roof and the roofing company sub-contracted with Black…read moreHorse Masonry to do the counter-flashing around the chimney. Because my roof had previously been converted from a flat to a pitched roof, the chimney was no longer sufficiently elevated above the roof so the job turned out to require considerable additional prep work including raising the 70-year old brick chimney above the roof line, building a new crown and installing a rain cap. In ALL of my interactions with the work crew, they were respectful and considerate. They worked steadily, and the foreman, Riley, took the time to keep my informed of their progress, answer all of my questions and explain everything to me in user friendly terms. Not only did they start and finish on time, they noticed and repaired a loose brick in a structure adjacent to the chimney! The finished product looks GREAT. I would absolutely use them again and recommend them to anyone who needs masonry work!

Isaac came out quickly, inspected and diagnosed the issue and provided a solution that solved the issue. Chimney and crown were repaired and a new cap was installed all for a reasonable price. Isaac, Tara, and the entire team that was involved were high quality and professional. I highly recommend the team from Black Horse Masonry. Hire them today!
