(Warning: this is NOT a comedy sketch. This is real and not entertainment. This is what actually…read morehappened.) ------ My massage was purchased on Groupon, good deal for a 60 minute massage and I was looking forward to it. I arrived 5 minutes late and the masseuse was not rushed because she had no other appointments that Saturday. (Clue 1). As I filled out the short form we talked and then headed to the cold chilly massage/office room. (Clue 2) She constantly talked (Clue 3) to relax herself I suppose. I think she was excited to finally meet me because we'd chatted over Facebook a year before about my medical business. I'm an expert at getting a monthly, sometimes bi-monthly massage as I've been getting massages since my 1st car accident at 15. So, as I'm getting undress and she's still talking without giving me privacy, I ask, "Is the table already heated"? She giggled, "No, would you like it heated"? "Yes", I reply. "It's really cold in here". So, she goes over to warm up the blanket and she's still talking about something. (Clue 4) I'm sitting down at the desk in the massage room which is next to a huge window. I notice that you can clearly hear all the cars going by and the shades are still open. I get up and close it. She comes and sits down and asks me, " Would you like aromatherapy"? I say, "sure". "What scent would you like"? NOW, mind you, she does not have the oils listed on a piece of paper, they are not sat out on a shelf. They are hidden away. So, I mention to her what other massage therapist do regarding aromatherapy appointments. I'm not sure if she's understanding but I'm sure she ready to discuss a new product She'd mentioned to me over the phone. I mention different fruit scents and flower scents and she tells me about each one. And she starts talking about a popular brand she just heard about. Mind you, now 15 minutes have passed and I'm still sitting and she's just casual chatting. (Clue 5) I stand up and say, "Do you have any music"? She gets up and goes to the boombox thats sitting next to the door and she turns it on. And she's blabbling about something. She won't shut up and let me relax. (Clue 6).I've got another appt after this. I know I'm gonna be late but I need this massage. She finally gets ready to leave the room, I mention again how chilly it is in the room and say, "Oh, it's gonna be nice to get on the warm table". She remarks, "Oh, I've been talking all this time and forgot to turn it on"! (Clue 7). This is my WTF moment. The clue I should have gotten up and left already and cancelledthe appointment!! She finally turns it on and she steps out the room. I close the door and turn up the music to drown out the sounds of the vehicles passing by. I take off my clothes and get under the chilly covers. She pops back in...no knock..nothing. (Clue 8). This "b" is a pain in my bottom and I'm using profanity in my head calling her all kinds of names. So unprofessional. Im here to get my 1st ever hot stone massage. Guess what? She tells me there is a law in affect where she can't give me the hot stone therapy as pictured on 1000s of pictures. Missouri outlawed that practice. So, she has about 4 stones...and she wished she'd had brought the rest from home. (Clue 9). OMG! I lay there on my stomache and she turns the music down mentioning that the 1st song is really low and the next song isn't similar. She was right the next song was a wakeup song that was loud. So she turned down the music more to a more comfortable sound. I told her I want the music to drown out the hum of the vehicles passing by. In her nervous way she fleeted around the room. She out some oil on a kleenex and sat it down near my nose. WTF kind of practice is that? (Clue 10). Tip: professional massage therapist's rub a little oil in their hands to warm up the oil and release the scents. Then tell you to take 3 deep breaths as they hold their hands near your nose...not to close.. while you're on your stomach, face on massage pillow. I rolled my eyes and turn my head. She asks what areas I want her to focus on. She flipped off the covers on my legs. Mind you its cold in this room. She goes and starts massaging my feet. I love my feet massaged...it helps me to fall asleep. But its cold. I tell her massage therapist generally un cover one leg at a time. Basically, the entire massage she decides to prove herself by mentioning every freaking muscle. *She's not comfortable massaging the entire thigh. *She uses a pillow instead of a bolster to rest the legs on. *She isn't familiar with how to massage elbows nor arms. *She loves to talk and forgets not to talk when asked not to talk. (Every masseuse has different techniques...she says). By mistake, I receive a 90 minute massage. I was running out of there. My masseuse was Vicki C.

I received a massage yesterday from Vicki. I had not been feeling well the previous 2 days…read more(headache, fatigue, etc), and I was hoping to feel better from getting a massage. I was pleasantly relieved when I felt about 75% normal after a 90 minute massage. And then, to feel 100% normal today is also great! She offered me tea upon arrival, and while we sipped on it, she took the time to listen to my current health concerns, and asked some questions about the type of massage I'd like to receive. I was comforted to know I was with someone who genuinely cared about my well being. I also appreciated that she knows an incredible amount about aromatherapy and was able to give me tips on an ongoing wellness plan to help me address my health concerns (without being pushy about it, which was nice.) I would recommend Vicki's services to anyone, especially if they are interested in the benefits of aromatherapy!

In May 2021, I had hours remaining on a program with MassageLuxe when I decided to cancel my…read moremembership. I was informed that the only way I could not lose on the hours was to move to a "HydroLuxe" plan. I was not able to cancel my membership without losing the hours I had already paid for. When moving to this plan, it set up a recurring monthly charge. It was $20/month until early 2025, then went up to $30/month. The problem is, I didn't know I was paying for it. No emails, no calls, no reminders of the benefits at any time, and no communication about an increase in the price. I only learned of these continued payments when my credit card expired, and their system called and texted multiple times because they couldn't collect payment. I called to cancel and request a refund and was told I couldn't cancel until my account was up to date. So pay another $30 for a service I didn't know I had and have never used? Absolutely not. This is a scam business practice and absolutely unethical in multiple ways. If someone pays for a membership that allows them to accrue hours, it should be allowed to be paused at anytime with no further accumulation. Hours shouldn't be lost, or should have a time limit to be used. If there is a membership and the system is able to recognize that it's not getting paid, it should also recognize that it's not getting used. Reminders to come in, details about changes or price increases, etc. The only resolution will be a full refund of the funds I unknowingly paid for the last 5 years.

I have been dying to experience the viral japanese head spa I keep seeing everywhere! I booked a 60…read moreminute headspa which consisted of a scalp massage, shampoo, conditioning mask / steam, facial cleanse, sheet mask, arm massage, and heated eye mask. She rinsed my hair, applied some face lotion, and gave me some time to apply leave-in conditioner & blowdry my own hair before leaving. Was it relaxing? Absolutely. Do I think it was worth the hype? If I'm being honest, no. I definitely don't think it was worth the full retail price of $130 + tip. I was disappointed the scalp massage was so short and that it didn't include a neck massage. She also didn't use any hair tools I've seen in their promo videos and spent a decent amount of time just combing out my knotted hair at the end. I feel your money is better spent on a massage or facial. I also booked a cupping massage to see how it differed from traditional swedish massages I've had. This was a unique experience consisting of warm oil, hot towels, deep breathing, stretching, and (of course) suction cups. I was surprised when the cups were fluidly incorporated into the massage before temporarily being placed in certain areas of tension. My body felt much less tense than when I walked in! However, I'd be remiss to point out it was uncomfortable at times because of heavy force exerted during stretches, pinching from the cups when there wasn't enough oil for glide, and scraping from her longer fingernails. I also unfortunately received a quarter sized bruise on my arm inside a cup mark. I would make sure you don't have plans to show skin for at least a week or two and be sure to drink plenty of water before AND after. The salon itself is clean and smells nice. They have an extensive spa menu with lots of options to treat yourself or someone you love. I saw a menu for wine next to the tea and water (I'm not sure if it's complimentary as I wasn't offered any, but if so, that's a nice perk!) They're located on the one-way stretch of Manchester so just be sure to keep an eye out for their sign so you don't miss them
